The little details do feel a little lacking.

It's weird because on the one hand, hurray 343 have brought back the chatter. On the other hand they've slapped it on everything. Jackals never really talked they just made these interestingly alien sounds while the rest of the covenant would actually talk. Which was an interesting part of their character I think. Also, why do the Hunters sound like bears?

Hopefully I don't sound like I'm just giving the game shit. It just feels a bit off.

If we're being nitpicky about little details, how about the fact that 343i loves to give blue/minor Elites swords? Annoys me to no end. I don't care about any fan theory, because from a purely game design and visual identity perspective it's broken. Some of the most intense moments in Halo are when you spot a high ranking Elite that begins charging at you with a sword. A lot of that forward thinking and prioritization of targets elements seem gone purely for the sake of change.

In solo mode, Halo 5 is beautiful. Running at 60 fps, even in my dreams I did not think it would look that good. It's a really good news to me.

In multiplayer, especially in Warzone (big maps, 24 players, 20 to 40 AI, 60 fps) I'm not expecting it to be beautiful. Be realistic and you'll stop being disappointed. This is my creed.

Anyone see Kinda Funny's footage of the Hunter batting grenades away? Love that new ability. Although I guess enemies will need some new tricks up their sleaves to take on 4 Spartants.

https://youtu.be/m8qVBzVJ_tU?t=308

That was the biggest thing I took from the new enemy encounters. Hunters have been long overdue for new fighting mechanics against players. They haven't been all that fun to fight since Combat evolved imo. I can only imagine some of those P- grenades coming back at you , and sticking to you lol. Gotta love Halos sandbox randomness

Didn't the non golden/high ranking elites in the first arbiter mission and or other missions in Halo 2 have energy swords?

Are you referring to Half-Jaw's squad (side you're on) or the Heretics? Because if I'm not mistaken even the Heretic leaders were gold.

I've seen the vids many times now. Like I mentioned, Great design. But it feels empty enemiy wise. And waaay to easy.

You gotta consider that this games always plays with 4 players. So the amount of enemies feels just to little in those big maps and way too easy vs 4 spartan. Again, since this is always 4 players coap the level of diffculty should be more harder than previous games.

More players should have a lot More enemies to fight and way way harder.

I didn't have problem finishing all previews games Solo legendary. Now, with AI helping you All the time it should at least be 2x harder.

That's my take on what I saw.

We don't want Spartan Ops enemies, that was a lesson in not how to scale enemies against more players or bullet sponge Prometheans.

Tougher enemy skill set, varied AI routines to make it a challenge.

In that intro they show the chief shaking multiple times and the other Spartans show concern about you much work he is doing.

Somethings up with the chief and it's making me teary eyed.

Didn't they say a while back that the game gets harder the more people you have.

Just watched the Blue Team cutscene and I immediately noticed and was annoyed by the fact Fred didn't call Chief by his name.

C'mon man, these guys grew up together. They're the only family they've got. 343i are even hamming that up in their vidocs about how this is how about two families at its core.

You'd think Chief's closests friends would refer to him by his real name.

OK my hype levels for campaign are pretty much through the roof now. Need to go on blackout but I know I won't be disciplined enough for that...

Fallen Xbot (cannot continue gaining levels in this class)
Good points. I should've said that I'm not concerned about the length of the game, just interested in piecing together the timeline. From what I can tell:

Halo 5 Intro
Mission 1 - Kamchatta(sp?) - snowy level
Mission 2 - Blue Team - Argent Truth space ship level
???
Mission ? - Swords of Sanghelios
Mission 10 - Enemy Lines

Seems like SoS and EL take place in Sanghelios. The question is, when does the Battle of Tsunaion from E3 take place?

Possibly late on this, but greenskull, of ready up live, mentioned that he believes swords of sanghelios IS enemy lines, just renamed. Visually, it sure looks like it, but I'm not sure if he has any other reason to believe this.

Is it weird that before today I was mildly interested in an xbox one but now I have a painful urge to get one simply because they finally brought the main Halo theme back after 7 years?

Could just be in a similar environment. They showed off Swords just last week. Why a name change this quickly?

Yeah, Enemy Lines and Swords of Sanghelios have to be different levels from just rewatching the gameplay of it.

Good to know the Blind Skull is still in the game. It's far from ideal (definitely not a good substitute for a classic zoom option) but at least there will be a way to avoid that awful cosmetic ADS filth (in the campaign at least)

The game looks OK I guess, but it's hard to form an opinion considering how bad the press is at playing Halo (as usual) Until I see a good player playing on Heroic or Legendary I can only speak about how nice and smooth it looks. Great to see a (new) Halo game running at 60fps (this would have never happened with Bungie)

The guy from polygon says he played on heroic and he looked fairly skillful. Check out their footage.

They each have a pelican intro, but they're completely different from where you start and the animation exiting.

I watched the first video and I saw him using auto weapons way too much. LOL. The second video is better though.

I know he mentions it in the preview, but I really hope that's not Heroic. Looks way too easy. The elites, for example, look nowhere near as agressive as they should be, and the enemies in general also look like they ignore the player a lot of the time.

Huh? You do understand that his isn't The Coventant, with the Prophets structural hierarchy... It's a bunch of human hating elites, who are using armor and weapons scavenged after the war... They are gonna throw swords to any able body.

You have no clue what your talking about. I honestly believe you don't know the ranks of elites and what all they can use.

It's bad and lazy game design. If you're just looking at it from a lore perspective you're doing it wrong.

Halo Wiki said:
Raised from childhood to be warriors, other societal roles are treated as secondary endeavors or even hobbies, and are not honored at all. Sangheili are skilled in the usage of most Covenant weapons. One interesting example of this martial focus is that only aristocrats are allowed to wield swords and that sword-wielders are then no longer eligible for marriage; however, they may breed with any female they choose, married or otherwise, to ensure successful transmission of "swordsman" genes.

Oh, please enlighten me then. Because last time I checked only the higher ranking Elites were allowed to use them. They bred specifically for it even, but yeah sure I must not know what I'm talking about.

I agree. Looked too easy for heroic, as he charged in pretty wrecklessly and came out unscathed.

Not to mention this is apparently 1/2 to 2/3s of the way through the game. I'd expect the difficulty of engagements to reflect that.

I've always found Heroic to be easy, there's quite the difficulty gap between heroic and legendary, if you employ the noob combo on heroic it's a complete walk in the park.

In previous Halo games I found Heroic to be the perfect difficulty for me. Plenty of deaths, but when you finally break through it feels great. Legendary for me is near impossible and not fun. Heroic is where it is for me, I just hope that Heroic in Halo 5 is challenging, but rewarding at the same time.

What group of these elites apart of in halo 5? what group were they apart of in Halo 1, 2,3 and reach? what are the rankings? when can you start using a sword?
How many kills do you need to get into this category?

Do you know any of these things? They'd really help with your confusion ( and i only mean the first 2 questions)
Plus they all train to use swords.

I'm too old and no patience for legendary anymore. I think heroic is the way to go for me. It's what I did for Reach even. Legendary feels more cheap than fun to me. Nerf the player and buff the enemies just doesn't appeal to me as much anymore. But if the campaign is indeed fun, who knows, I might do legendary. I love the fact they said they have lots of Easter eggs and secrets hidden.

I posted a single source that answered all of your questions, and since you seem unable to read I will post this again.

I'm not giving you fan theory i'm telling you facts. These elites are not in the same group as the ones from halo reach onward. If you would understand that maybe some of your confusion could be alleviated.

I asked you questions that i clearly know the answer too just to see what type of understanding you have on the subject but you ignored them.

Go ahead and keep on ignoring that source I posted. Attempting to be condescending isn't really aiding your point, either. Saying you know something and actually knowing it are two entirely different things.

I'm with you there, previous legendary games have felt cheap and I too don't really like the grind type gameplay. Hopefully the bullet sponges are gone and it's increased enemy numbers over lack of ammo or imbalanced damage stats etc.

Coop has always forced regular teams to play legendary, it's too easy on anything less with 4 players. I just never wanted to play coop due the latency, again I hope that is seriously kick arse in H5 dedis.

I get it but is it that big a deal? Cortana calls him Chief and John interchangeably.

Cortana, sure, but she met John when he was what, 41 years old?

Kelly, Fred, Linda and John have known each other since they were 6, i.e. for about 40 years.

It's not a big deal that in the first cut scene they don't call him by his name, but they're family. A very, very unconventional family, but a family nonetheless, and it'd be nice if they at least called him by his real name in private or interchangeably.

The civil war on Sanghelios means everything we have known about the structure of of Elites really doesn't apply at the moment.

I wanted to explain the difference between the Fleet of particular justice and Jul'Mdama's group, and the fact that a Major-domo can wield a sword. Hell Usze, and N'tho(a Minor) can wield swords.

guess i got trolled
