Yep, Sirvaival is really really good.
Not sure about the freemium aspect, but really good.

BTW....I kept playing all the morning Land Sliders...super cool and super addicting.

Playing both as well, SirVival has an energy system that can be removed for 1.99... it seems, going to try that out soon. And LandSliders has an addicting side to collecting all the things on the map, and that is fresh gameplay. The free games this week are great.

Now to play Magic Flute...

Land Sliders is indeed awesome! Thanks for pushing it Pitta. Might have overlooked that one.

SirVival is also really good.

Also wanted to mention that I finally figure out my own stupidity in why I wasn't getting past that first turret level in Tile Riders. The gun does "overheat" but there's something obvious I wasn't doing that was leading to my doom. I'll let ya'll figure that out on your own if you play it.

Tile Riders is really excellent overall. The range of objectives and ever changing gameplay is fantastic and there isn't anything quite like it.

So I post and the thread suddenly dies.

Saw that the Bioshock flap was corrected by 2K and the game will be back after it is updated to support iOS 9. But it is sad that Capcom is explicitly stating it will not update MHFU. I don't have the iOS version but know many have went as far as calling it the best version and it has a big following.

To any devs reading this, does Apple give any guidance or technical help in updating apps with each new update? If not, that seems like a huge gap that Apple really needs to fill. Doesn't get a big company like Capcom off the hook since they should have a large enough staff to dedicate to fixes.

----

Am torn between Astra and HoPiKo. But am leaning heavily towards HoPiKo. I don't know. So many circular platformers grow stale on me after a while, but HoPiKo looks much more unique and more exciting.

Anyone care to try to sway me to Astra, or should I stick with my instinct on HoPiKo?

Hopiko

The game just throws new mechanics at you. It's like Badland in that way. Simple controls, but a ton of mechanics. Plus am awesome soundtrack

Played some Magic Flute and without realizing I completed half of the game. Its like the puzzling from Blockwick with an isometric view and on top of that they add a bunch of mechanics. Slide the blocks on the floor to move them and tap anywhere on the block to move the character there. You have to guide your character from A to B, rearranging tiles to form a path. Levels dont usually take more than a minute to complete, the game seems short but the flow of the mechanics keeps it fresh and engaging. There is also a giant snake that introduces timed sections where you have to make a path quickly, adding some challenging in between to make it interesting. And on top of that they added a little bit of Monument Valley and some nicely done art direction. The level select is amazing, with the protagonist playing the most famous Mozart song. I am enjoying this one, a lot. Right now is 2$ soon to be 4$...

I'm looking for a good multiplayer puzzle game I can play with my non-gamer wife. We've played and enjoyed a word game or two, though I forget their names. Any recent games come to mind as worth trying out?

Letterpress is a great competite multiplayer word game, though I'm sure you've probably already played it

I recommend Kindo, it's a really good competitive puzzle game. Seems up your alley

Hey all, I wonder if this is an ok place to ask, but I recently got an 8bitdo nes30 controller and I'm wondering if there are any good iOS games that support it? I've tried searching for lists of games that support it, but they are so old that they list "new" games like Forget-Me-Not and not much newer. Best list I found was about 18 months old.

So, 2K says they are fixing Bioshock
http://toucharcade.com/2015/09/24/2k-says-bioshock-will-be-fixed-for-ios-9/

But...

I'm pretty sure if you remove a delete a game which they appear to have done rather than remove a game from sale, then there is no way back from that and they'll have to upload a new version of the app.

Which means nobody with the existing version will get the fixed update and they'll have to buy it again..

I might be wrong on that, but that's my understanding.

I'm not sure which one is more addicting, Land Sliders or Sivival (which I hoped it was premium or without the shop tough...levels and gameplay are fantastic tough).

Letterpress and Capital are the two games that we've played, and Letterpress is indeed awesome. Kindo looks like a ton of fun, I'll rope her into playing it tonight! Thanks!

By the way, anyone know why you can't get SpaceChem on iOS anymore?

Ah god damn. It's not on the Appstore and it's gone from my purchased list... I have to save my .ipa..

Another one? Yikes.

Hmmm starting to wonder whether this is a bug in OS9 rather than just inexperience in devs pulling down games temporarily and accidentally deleting them.

The iTunes Connect dashboard interface has changed recently too, so that might be bugged and doing the wrong action.

I've asked the dev, hopefully we'll get an answer on this.

Edit: Apparently it was broken on iOS9 and Zach knows about it:

This would not be good for both consumers and devs if buyers don't have access to the new versions, especially when we are talking about a pricier game like Bioshock. Hope Apple straightens this mess out if this is the case.

Land Sliders is really, really fun. The sliding mechanic is such a fun little twist. Feels so good just flinging the world around.

Poll: which control scheme is everyone using? I'm using the default. Just makes sense to me.

Also downloaded Lunar Flowers. Excited to try it!

I probably didn't try it long enough, but after 20 minutes I changed to the alternate controls and never looked back.Since then I fully 'starred' 4 characters and unlocked almost everyone I think.

One big incentive to play for me are those little puzzle that sometimes are in the levels.
So far I 'solved' just the one where you have 3 monster die in the middle.

Got a bunch of games this week: Tile Rider, HoPiKo, Magic Flute, Land Sliders, Lunar Flowers, SirVival and Forgotten Ball.

Don't know the last time I got that many things in one week. Of course, a few are F2P.

But I haven't had time to play any of them (except Tile Rider but that came early in the week).

I need a mental decompression day and just play games. Work and life as an adult sucks.

The Sequence is out now. $0.99, no IAP
https://appsto.re/us/WUcT9.i

The sequence is insanely good.

I feel my brain will melt before tomorrow morning.

I'll pick this up someday, but as a computer programmer having a rough day at work, I don't think I can handle it right now.

Skeletomb is out : https://t.co/f1sd1buD2Q

I took a little break for a few minutes and have to say it seems really good. It may have that Crossy Road look, but it's much more free roaming and has perspective changes and a Zelda feel to it.

Although there are supposed to be ads, I have yet to see one. And apparently you unlock a character with each video you watch. Once you unlock all characters, all ads go away.

This is interesting because Crescent Moon launched this crazy joke app on Android in which there is a giant cube. And to get rid of each square in the cube, you watch an ad. And once you get rid of all the squares -- and there are a LOT of them -- supposedly you get a free premium app. Little experiment Josh came up with. I have not gotten to "the end" and have most CM games but may do it just out of curiousity.

While AAA ports from big companies can't stay updated, on the flip side, we have indie dungeon crawler Cavern, which 1) was released in 2009 and 2) just got a big 2.5 update this week

Currently on sale for $1.99
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cavern/id346653564

So Molyneux's Curiosity but with an actual reward?

Apparently.

Finished it while watching TV. Really only takes about 15 minutes total. And the reward is The Deer God. Not a bad payout (already own it on two platforms, but just did it for the hell of it). Wonder if it generates enough revenue to be close to the $4.99 price of TDG?

Picked up HoPiKo to break in my new 6S, and wow - this game is a TON of fun. Love the gameplay, love the music. Is Alone as good? Never got around to it.

I have it. You have to climb a huge (see M_B image a few posts up) tower full of platforms and traps and reach the top. There are skins hidden throughout the level. Controls are working good right (a little bit float-y but responsive) now but I am only at the beginning dont know how tricky it will get. So far I would say its perfect they way it is. Loving it. Really like it. The way its all interconnected is very unique.

With all the other releases this week, wanted to also recommend this one, Forgotten Ball. It really is an amazingly put together game with how intricate everything fits together and having to use trial and error just to even understand what that switch you just touched even did.

Also liked how the game has a little pregame setup before it really kicks in.

Very nice minimalist but devious platformer / puzzler. And despite how things in the game layer upon one another, I'm curious if there is more than one path to the top.

Is it much of a actual puzzle-platformer? Or just "reach this switch to continue" puzzles?

I'm not real far but as I kind of alluded to, sometimes it may take you a few minutes to even figure out what a switch did. Did it remove an obstacle, cause a cube to become an elevator? You still have to continue upwards to see. The orange blocks appear to be the ones affected by the switches.

I've found times where I've gone the wrong direction and had to backtrack to figure out the right way. And with physics involved, you still have the platforming aspect too in which you may miss a jump and have to start again from a checkpoint.

There's then red blocks which will kill you and you often have to time your jumps based on the movement of one or more red blocks.

I guess the best way to describe it is a vertical 3D maze with platforming elements and some puzzles. Technically you are right in that the switches do allow you to continue. I don't know if that will always be the case later in the game or if more elements are introduced.

I'm enjoying it. But I also like ball rollers and platformers and am not always wanting something that's incredibly difficult but still takes some thinking.

Edit: Well, now I'm 99% sure that there is more than one way to reach the top. A new anti-gravity twist is making it a lot more interesting to try to figure out how to keep going and taking me on different paths.

Can't really recommend Tile Tales for the price unless they're planning on adding more levels. Took me an hour at the most to 3 star everything and only a handful of them were of any real challenge. Looks really nice at least.

Am I the only one here that is experiencing severe Gamecenter problems (or no GC at all) since iOS 9?
I know the problem is widespread (Apple forums are on fire)....it's really annoying.

I found a workaround for this: hold both the lock and the home button at the same time until your devise restarts, then GameCenter will load. Apple is working on it as hard as they can to fix it.

Well Gamecenter has always been wonky and a bug fest so that's not all that surprising.
On iOS8 I had to log in every two days. And I wasn't alone.
