iOS Gaming September 2015 | GOing back to school with a backlog

Am I the only one here that is experiencing severe Gamecenter problems (or no GC at all) since iOS 9?
I know the problem is widespread (Apple forums are on fire)....it's really annoying.

For me it just takes a looonnnnggg time before it logs in (compared to before). And while the gamecenter banner is visible, the game freezes for 5 seconds or so until it finishes loading.

iOS 9.0 on a 18 month old 5s and have had zero problems, ever, with Game Center. Loads instantly in all my games and tracks all my achievements.

Weird.

SirVival is cute as fudge.

Always seem to die on level 3 in Land Sliders. Don't know what's wrong with me.

I found a workaround for this: hold both the lock and the home button at the same time until your devise restarts, then GameCenter will load. Apple is working on it as hard as they can to fix it.

Yeah but having to do this almost every time is really annoying, especially for games that rely on GC to load the save. :(

Maybe it's just me but there seems to be a fps difference on some games like star wars uprising on my 6 plus compared to my girlfriend's normal 6. Is it normal that on the plus it feels choppy at times?

Tried resetting your network settings?

Have had 0 GC issues across all my devices on iOS 9 betas > release thus far.

Thanks, but did that too and nothing changed.
So far only resetting the device works for a bit (and it's very slow).
It can work fine for a day, then it's stuck.
Apparently a ton of people have the same problem according to Apple forums, and Apple should fix it in next update.
It's really annoying.

Sproggiwood is on sale for $4.99 (from $9.99). Been on the fence on it forever. Oh, what the hell, my spending streak this week continues...

I actually had my device crash to a black screen at one point. I could hear the phone chime from texts and phone calls but the screen was black. I finally managed to restart the device and haven't had a problem since. I was really unhappy about that though, I thought the screen was dead. It happened right after I opened a game right as the GC banner came up, So i'm assuming game center.

Sproggiwood is really great. One of the reasons I held off was that I had been playing Crowntakers and they both kind of looked like slightly more casual roguelikes.

But I'm finding Sproggiwood to be a lot more enjoyable. Charming, accessible and fun while still retaining that roguelike difficulty.

Highly recommended, especially for anyone who feels intimidated by the more traditional roguelike games.

Anything like the PlayStation/PSP game "Lumines" around? Or Any Rez clones? I like rhythm puzzle games with EDM music. I tried that Groove Coaster one already.

There used to be a Lumines game on iOS but it got delisted a few years ago. There's a new one coming though in the near future. Was announced in January.

I wasn't aware of this. Awesome!

I would klll to have Rez on iOS. We need to start a campaign to make that happen. Controls aren't too complicated. I think it could work.

Am I supposed to get a notification SOUND when I actually get a notification from Lifeline?
Because I'm not getting any.

For anyone who likes Pokemon, EvoCreo is a very good clone. It got good reviews and even though it doesn't looks as good as Micromon (though some people might appreciate the retro approach), it's a much larger and robust game. According to reviews anyway, I haven't played enough yet to know. I'm having fun so far, and for $1 you can't go wrong. The game was a Kickstarter project back in 2012, IIRC.

Here's a video review (android version):

Par for the course I'm afraid since the Plus drives more pixels

Picked up the Sequence and it's as good as others have posted. It really is a unique animal compared to Space Chem or Perfect Paths. The mechanics of the "tools" gives it a totally different feel IMO.

But I'm currently addicted to HoPiKo (damn can it be a bitch, but it's insanely fun), Forgotten Ball and Sproggiwood.

I also picked up The Magic Flute and it is good but was hoping it had more to it than tile sliding (even if there is a twist with the different elevations).

Kind of hope it's a slow week this week so I can play the ton of games I got last week and my backlog.

Any title suggestions for the October thread?

A few things I'm looking forward to this week, but they're all relatively small indie stuff.

Oh, didn't know this was coming! I liked "This is Not a Test" quite a lot so this should be good.
That plus the 80 days update will make for a great CYOA week :D
Did a short piece on it for PG yesterday. The devs expanded on the TINAT format with more RPG elements. Skills, items and weapons, turn-based combat, etc.

Hmmmmm, I need to check this one out....never heard of it before.

Thought it was odd that we were just talking about Shovel Knight and there's an article on PG about how it sold better on 3DS than Steam.

What I didn't understand was why the article appears on the iOS and Android pages. Nothing on the article pertains to either system... Unless it's a hint that they may be bringing it to mobile after all

Loved Kero Blaster a lot. And the prequel. I say keep em coming :D

Also, Mos Speedrun 2 looks great and I have some fond memories from the first one. Picking it up tomorrow...

Also, HoPiKo devs talks about being the US Editors Choice, future updates on their website:

We're already planning a cool update with a new hardcore mode (more details soon!), debating the prospect of an in-app level creator (although this will take us a few months!) and working on a few fixes and bugs. We'll keep you posted, new version on the way!
