I'll do the perspective of the Pirates or Cubs to beat the Cardinals:

-Just pitch to them. They won't score anyway.

Our offense is so, so, so terrible limping into the playoffs.

I dunno, half the guys who played in the three games against the Braves won't even be on the playoff roster. The other half probably won't start. Cards put up 11 the game before.

Cards have a pretty average offense.

It's finally nice to be in one of these threads with an actual team involved.

It sucks that I'm not going to be able to actually watch the start of these games since they are on early.

I wish the first two Jays games were night games, but I'm just happy to have postseason baseball in Toronto.

I'm lucky in that the start times don't affect my schedule or lack thereof, though, and feel bad for those who are affected.

Every Blue Jay game in 4k next year? Cool! Hope a clip gets circulated or put on demo at Best Buy so people can see real content in UHD.

I am excite about the postseason.. It is pretty nice when you don't have a team in it.

As long as Satan and the Mets don't win I will be a very happy man

Hey guys remember when I said the Dodgers were stupid to trade Dee Gordon, let alone for Howie Kendrick and you guys said I was crazy?

well they also got kike hernandez in that trade

and austin barnes and chris hatcher (for better or worse)

i also think howie will take good at bats in the playoffs

What a terrible trade. I don't know why they traded Dee. He was cheap and he was productive.

They were paying him just over $500,000 last year, lol.

Kike has been a bright spot, and Barnes is okay, but goddamn that was a downgrade at that position.

what? what happened?

He made an argument that the premise of a thread about Texas obscuring the institution of slavery in textbooks was dubious. He backed it up with facts, and remained respectful in the face of dismissive mockery. Yet, even though the only person in that exchange interested in a good-faith discussion was Enron, he got banned forever. If you've ever wondered why the level of 'discourse' on GAF is what it has, look no further. Silencing mild disagreement over and over again is not good for an 'intellectual community.' As long as somebody is saying an opinion in a non-hateful way, than if a mod feels challenged by the issue, they should use their words to discuss it like anybody else, rather than just banning someone who makes you feel threatened. But, what can you do?

Look, I've been on this forum for 10 years. I've been warned next time I slip up, I'm perm'd so I know I'm not long for this forum anyway. RIP Enron. RIP Frankman. RIP Pollo. Team Mustard + NL DH 4 life.

Capuano and Shreve not on the roster.

wooo!

This is what he posted in the gaf fantasy baseball league:

Perm'd for pointing out that slaves and workers in the same sentence pretty much still means "slaves" and people are willing to be upset about anything these days - man, if i knew that was perm-worthy I would have asked for a do-over!

that is a damn shame. Enron was a fine poster and a good guy.never insulted anyone,I guess the "leadership" would rather allow 1,000 more obnoxious teenaged posters than one solid citizen.

Alright, I wanna clear up a couple things.

A) Not lazy, plugging at the OP I just don't want it to be a listing of game times and a bracket, I wanted to do something unique with it. I had one that was just times and some bracketing but that's not as fun.

B) I'm sick as shit and it's taking me a bit but I'll get it done.

C) And this is the important bit, I need EVERY Yankee and Astros fan, and EVERY Pirates and Cubs fan, to post their thoughts on how the game will play out, not just a score projection, but give me reasoning behind how players could be impactful, who could contribute, who's the darkhorse to make a play. This can be just for your team, or it could cover both, ultimately it doesn't matter.

But please, type those up and I'll add them to the OP under your game/series.

I wanna make this comprehensive and all-inclusive. I'm working on the second WC game now but I posted a quick update to the OP but I'll have it done and super pretty within an hour or two.

Yankees need to do this in order to win

1. create scoring opportunities with Ellsbury and Gardner.
2. work the count on Kuechel. you have to play small ball with him.
3. short hook on Tanaka. no excuses. everyone is available.
4. A-Rod has to hit.

it will still be a low scoring affair but they can't allow Altuve or Correia to beat them.

Link got done, too...... for doing a "papelbon" on NYCmetsfan in the Jeb Bush thread.

really? Jesus why do our best get picked off like this?

It's funny, I can't remember a time when the Yankees were a heavy underdog going into the playoffs. Maybe the 80s?

they didn't make the playoffs during the 80s (except 81) so I'd say 96.

If the Dodgers, Cards, or Yankees win we should just cancel baseball forever.

delicious tears.

this place needs more dissenting voices. I guess you could I am sort of of liberal but not fully. I am willing to hear an argument out as long as the person brings facts and respect to the argument. mods don't want to believe it but there is definitely a ganging-up on mentality in this forum when it comes to dissenting opinion.

on to Baseball, Yankees win 4-3 with Tanaka going 7.

The Oakland Athletics wanted to make sure they could keep David Forst in the front office after other clubs sought to hire him, so they promoted him to general manager Monday and elevated Billy Beane to executive vice president of baseball operations.

"Long overdue," Beane said of Forst's promotion.

Forst just completed his 16th years with the low-budget franchise and 12th as assistant GM, though Beane insists his right-hand man has been assuming general manager duties behind the scenes for some time. Forst has been committed to keeping his young family in the Bay Area and staying with an organization he loves despite the daunting challenges.

Beane, who had been GM since late 1997, said Forst has had multiple opportunities to interview elsewhere each year -- "We stopped counting," Beane quipped.

"It's a well-deserved recognition and promotion from David's end," Beane said a day after Oakland finished an AL-worst 68-94 after three straight years in the playoffs. "This makes public how we were operating."

Beane and Forst have regularly split up their duties in such a way that Forst has better relationships with some agents and opposing GMs and Beane with others. Last offseason, the A's lost assistant GM Farhan Zaidi to the GM job with the Los Angeles Dodgers -- and they didn't dare let Forst get away.

"I've always wanted to stay here. Billy brought me in and from Day 1 included me in everything, and every opportunity that has come up it always came back to the fact that I wanted to be here," Forst said. "I'm thrilled to have this happen, to know that I'm going to be here for a while and really to continue our relationship which is the most important to me."

Ticket prices for Jays games are dropping.

Still fuck expensive but cheaper than they were a week ago. A 500 level ticket is around $135 USD now. It was $180 a few days ago.
