Well to be fair, they were quite transparent about how some games and apps wouldn't work, and even went as far as to list a few of the offenders. It was a risk. That's why I personally chose not to opt in.

There's a difference between OS and UI. Everything previous has only ever been UI changes; everything on the 360 and everything previous to this on Xbox One was only UI. This is completely changing the OS from the Windows 8 kernel to the Windows 10 kernel. It's a massive change that's expected to have these issues.

In hindsight I should have opted out. I just never thought it'd be this bad. My Xbox just turns off on its own all the time now.

So now that I opted out, how do I get the old dashboard back?

You opted out of new dashboard?
You know that your console will be factory reset and the internal HD will be formatted?
Just make sure you have backed everything up to external HD if possible or your gonna have to re-download everything.

Hold the power button down and wait 15 seconds before turning on again, should prompt you right away once it starts again.

You're kidding me. I just spent 2 hours downloading Rock Band songs, I changed enrollment to opt back out, and now I don't have the option to go back and opt back in.

This whole preview has been a pain in the ass. I never should have opted in. In the 5+ years I've spent as a preview member I've never had a program that ruined my day-to-day console use like this one. It's a mess.

They did go over all of that during the initial opt-in offering. They specifically said some games and other apps will not work during the testing phase.

You should have taken their advice to heart.

I haven't had any issues yet. Everything is fast and snappy. I do with they had a better solution for the bringing up the mini dash then the double click.

I just got one for my birthday and as nice as it is to control my entertainment system through my XB1 now, it seems like it has some rough edges that could really be improved on compared to other voice stuff like OK, Google.

"Xbox volume up/ down" works instant now. Before it had a delay. Thats all I really ever use my kinect for is that command.

It wasn't doing that before the update.

People with the NXOE have reported preloaded content sits in the queue, so it's not just you. Not sure if it's an intentional change or a bug though.

Ya there's a lot of features and stuff that isn't turned on properly yet. Just a heads up for newcomers that they update every couple days and change stuff around a lot based on feedback. So submit feedback whenever you can for crashes, issues, or just general feedback.

And oh ya, if you run into an issue, before even posting here, try unplugging your external drive and hard resetting to save yourself time and effort

2) games and apps are at the bottom at the home menu.

I hope MS fixes these things, it's pretty annoying having to scroll all the way down just to select a game/app it should have it's own page next to Home

Non Beta dash, but question about game patches.

A lot of my game patches get stuck at 99%.
I have to restart or manage or find tricky ways to "reboot" the game.

Everyone has different expectations of what fast and fluid is. Naturally it'll be faster in some areas and less so in many others, and people will have a difference in UX, by it being a beta.

No need to get all defensive and falling back to "You don't know me!" when the contents of your post give no other hints.
