The New Xbox One Experience Beta |OT| Beta tested in the future

Yes finally I'm in everything looks and feels great and fast but yeah you can tell it's a beta, no problem at all I will make sure to report every bug I encounter btw I'm from Mexico any other Gaffer with the update outside the states?

I was appearing offline for so long that I cannot appear online now. A friend of mine is also having the same issue.

I know it is a beta but I would have expected things like Closed Captioning and Online Status to be functional from the jump.

Bugs: Consistent drops from party chat(At least 15 in a 1.5 hour period) Also can't set achievement art as background and the battery meter is completely broken. Gane DVR refuses to play one clip I recorded tonight pass the 5 second mark and the other 2 give me a green screen with audio. And before anyone asks, yes, I have reported these issues, when my console doesn't lock up.

You're the type that would walk into a room with a sign on a door saying that there is no light inside, then complain that it's dark, aren't you?

I've been in every 360/Xbox One beta since they started doing updates and this is the worst initial update I've used. Don't get how they'd go from slow to navigate to slower in an attempt to make a smoother Dashboard.

I can't even appear offline. It switches back to online every time I leave the profile page

Same issue here, but it keeps switching to offline. Even if I leace the profile app open after switching to online. And Ive checked to make sure some weird new setting wasn't accidentally checked. It's getting to be pretty annoying.

I have been touched by Microsoft. This is what I get for watching the Hardware event.

I must go now, NXOE awaits me.

So problems Ive noticed are I cannot see all games from the new games list in the store, it just boots me back to the dash.

Also we still have the unnecessary and painfully dumb multiple tiles for the same damn game. Ac syndicate does not need a main one, a preorder one and a gold edition tile. It just needs one tile called AC Syndicate.

Perhaps you should do a hard reset, because it's not remotely slower for most of the people here. There is some jankiness, but you saying that they suck at software, while using unfinished testing software is disingenuous.

Because it's a brand new operating system. It's not just a simple update.

My current feedback on the NXOE, that I've already posted in the preview forums:
◾The new Xbox Guide is a lot faster, which makes inviting someone to a party less a hassle
◾The party invite-process could be sped up by: When bringing up the guide and moving to friends, the first selection should be the first friend who's online and not "find someone". Landing on "find someone" first costs two presses of the down button to get to the first friend.
◾Snapping apps on the left/right side of the screen should be optional
◾The background image is currently not displayed fully. When moving down on "Home" or right to the "One Guide" tab, the background image 'moves' along. This is cool for panorama pictures, but for a 1920*1080 image I'd like to have it static and fully displayed at any moment in the background.
◾The settings tab in the Xbox Guide could use some additional quick-settings like changing the power mode, similar to the Kinect mic toggle that is already there.
◾I'm pretty sure that "My games &apps" will get an overhaul next and I hope that it will get a verticality treatment , too.

◾When viewing messages, 1/4 of the box, where messages are displayed, is filled with "delete message" and "report message". As it currently is, I can only see 1 long message and 1 short message in that box. I'd like to have a better overview here + seeing at which time a message was sent.
◾"Reply" and "More" could be moved a little bit more down on the screen.
◾"Delete message" and "report message" could be made smaller or disabling "report message" entirely for chatting with a friend.(Highly unlikely to report a message of someone who's on my friend list)
◾The free space between messages is wasted space, bring messages closer together
◾As I said: 1/4 of the message box is "delete message"/"report message", ~1/4 is filled with nothing, the remaining 2/4 are messages

If your dash feels slow after the update, do a hard reset.

It cleans up things and you'll see how fast it is.

It's still a bit stuttery after a hard reset, but it's much better than right after install.

And they'll fix all that before release.

With the latest update I'm seeing several of the bugs I noticed fixed. Still far from perfect, but slowly getting better.

Nevermind....

Guess I'm finally in?

Download size is 1026mb

Says if I don't download I can't go online.

Is this it or just some other update?

I really is. And with still more than a month to go. The progress they made this week alone was very impressive.

This thing will be great once released.

Well crap, Plex is broken. Thankfully I have other devices I can use it on for the time being. Reported it, and it looks like others are having the same issue.

Overall liking the update so far, makes it way easier getting to friend's list and inviting people which is the biggest thing I hated about the last dashboard.

The USB hard drive issue is fully fixed, by the way. This will lead to a much better experience for new upgrades.

For everyone havng issues and you're just getting in, last week this was much more volatile. They are rapidly iterating and fixes and improvements are coming all the time. I would put this closer to the Windows 10 Consumer Preview earlier this year with tons of bugs up front but with updates always coming, it's always getting better.

Just make sure to always be reporting and detailing any issues so they can get them added to the bug list!

so far I only have 2 things I don't like

1) voice feedback for party chat is missing (the green circle that lit up every time someone spoke)

2) games and apps are at the bottom at the home menu.

I hope MS fixes these things, it's pretty annoying having to scroll all the way down just to select a game/app it should have it's own page next to Home

Voice feedback is still there. It's just not a green circle anymore, it's a circle that surrounds the persons gamerpic.

Got in this morning. Turned it on had prompt to update was over 1 gig. It restarted twice during applying the update losing some progress the first time so I unplugged my external the second time. But other than that was ok

I am wondering. What happens if I get the NXOE, then get the halo 5 xbox one later this month? Will it download to the new console as well? or is it just going to be left on the other one i was on?

You register a console for the update. The new console will stay off unless you choose to register it as well.

Thanks for the fast reply. I dont know why I didnt piece it together since the registration is console side >.>

Exactly the same problem here. My status was set to offline before I got the update. Maybe thats why it got stuck on that.

It'll never happen, but I would love the ability to hide the entire OneGuide fab - or at least have it so users who do not care for the capabilities in the slightest can swap position with the Games tab - the (supposed) primary purpose of a console.

Have to say, I'm not at all impressed with the new layout - the Games Library tab should be more immediate

Agreed. I would much rather have my Pins as one of the first things you see. If I want to fill it with media apps etc, I can do hat but if I want to play games, then show me my games first!

I actually like the idea of it being where it is. But if I can't customize it to only show services I actually use, it's useless to me.

Shot in the dark, but once I've opted out is there any way to cancel that/opt back in so my console doesn't get factory reset?

Even then, when does the reset happen? What do I do next?

Ah ok, thanks for the clarification, this would be a reason for me to opt out ;) I can live with a little jank though for 1-2 months

I wouldn't say it's a little jank - it's improving, but I've had several system crashes this week and a non-bootable Xbox once, for example. Your experience may vary. I wouldn't enrol if you just want a fancy dashboard, it isn't quite there yet.

please, please provide feedback to the Microsoft team.

1.Use the Xbox Preview Dashboard app. Every time there's an update, make sure you're taking all of the new polls, surveys, and quests Microsoft are pushing out to us. Also use it to report any problems you encounter. If you find anything out of the ordinary, report it.

2.If you haven't done so yet, make sure you can access the Xbox One support forums and become an active member of the community:

http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_early_access/update_preview/update_preview_forums/nxoe_1509/default.aspx
http://forums.xbox.com/msgs/default.aspx?MessageID=33

Use it just like you would the Preview Dashboard app. Anything seems out of the ordinary? Search to see if someone else has encountered that issue. If they have, join the discussion. If they haven't, begin posting.

3. If something is broken. Submit that feedback

The NXOE has its fair share of problems and I'm sure the Xbox team is hard at work, all hours of the day, ensuring its launch next month goes as smoothly as possible. Its up to the community enrolled in this preview program to make sure we're providing as much detailed information to Microsoft so they can make the NXOE the best that it can be

4: if you want to see changes then post it in the correct forum. they are not going to be looking here for that information

I have asked for changes for the achievement app etc, its a work in progress and they will go by your input

I noticed the lack of ability to hide uninstalled items in the games app. Is this a bug, or are they planning on overhauling the app and just didn't carry that feature over for the time being?

I would guess this is a feature they have just not implemented yet.

It´s now also a known bug in the preview dashboard app. Make sure to hit "+1 I am also having this problem"

You can disable Direct Play in the app settings for the moment, then everything works fine.

So I think my Xbox just committed suicide. Was playing some Destiny before bed and all of a sudden the screen faded black and the system just shut itself off, completely. And now it won't successfully boot up. Either restarts, cuts to black, or gets an error message. Before that I couldn't access the guide or dashboard while in-game, but I said fuck it and kept playing.

Edit: After trying everything pulling the power cord while the console was stuck on a black screen fixed it. Sort of.
