Oh wow I remember that mom hating the episode haha. this is a fantastic interview. Definitely the most that Nathan himself has gone into his thinking behind the show and his "real life" self. didn't know Nathan had gotten divorced sometime in the last year, that's a bummer. And the talk about the recession and the idea of avoiding discomfort is articulated well.

Those two and Broad City are the trifecta of perfect forward-thinking current comedies. Review and Nathan for You pushing formal boundaries while Broad City plays social mores. plus they had Key and Peele asthe sketch component. (I'll even go to bat for Meltdown, which I think is a super valuable and charming standup showcase)
