These balloon levels are completely killing my momentum to get through this game. It hurts. Everything else about it is okay, nothing sticks out to me as bad besides the vehicle portions. Just miss old Chibi Robo style gameplay.

Newly updated list of costume codes:
World 1:
1-1: 90841
1-2: 31389
1-3: 08201
1-4: 28382
1-6: 22801

World 2:
2-1: 87164
2-2: 73396
2-4: 65465
2-5: 62985
2-6: 53612

World 3:
3-1: 46177
3-3: 11156
3-4: 86229
3-5: 53540
3-6: 45379

World 4:

4-2: 49787
4-3: 57749
4-5: 15626
4-6: 17885

World 5:
5-1: 78313

This seems like a good place to ask. What's generally considered the GOAT 2D platformer on 3DS? I'm not really into the NSMB series so that's out. Triple Deluxe? Boxboy?

Just got to world 2 and the level design seems to be improved. Just about to drop in all the outfit codes posted in this thread. Honestly just another perplexing and unnecessary design decision.

There's not a whole lot of 2D platformers that come to mind for some reason but Kirby Triple Deluxe definitely is up there, it's like the best entry in the series.

Box Boy is not a platformer. It's a puzzle game.

Shovel Knight is probably what you want.

I'm gonna be super pedantic and say Triple Deluxe is barely a platformer but you should totally play it because it's one of the best games on the system. Definitely grab Box Boy, since it's a great puzzle platfomer as well.

If NSMB2 (which isn't a GOAT but still a little underrated IMO) is out, I'm having trouble thinking of any other good/great platformers that are exclusive. Everything else I can think of is either a port or multiplat from the start.

It's not GOAT or anything, but Jump Trials Supreme on the eShop is a pretty good twitch-action platformer where every level lasts 10 seconds.

Costumes again. I need to finish this game already since I could easily decipher 6-5, but I'm at 5-4 right now. Also jeez at the bonus levels hidden behind the amiibo. That might piss someone off. I guess the reviews would of been even lower if they knew about it?

Edit: 6-5 added.

I'm almost tempted to make a joke thread titled "Chibi-Robo: Zip Lash locks 1/7th of its content behind amiibo paywall" just to see how many people will leap in to complain about something they'll never play.

And yeah, this just further proves that none of the reviewers actually finished the game. Stuff like Mario 3D Land/World and Kid Icarus Uprising had their post-game content always talked about in reviews, whereas I didn't even hear a peep about these bonus levels beyond what was stated on the box.

Edit: Also, 6-5 is 19303.

I would think it would get even more hate than Splatoon since they're original levels unlike Splatoon which were the same levels, but remixed. I'll find out for myself eventually, but I hope it has an extra boss as well.

Also I don't think anyone cares about this, but I think it's really weird that the whole plot of this game is that the aliens are stealing the planet's resources. All you're doing in levels is picking up trash, blowing up UFOs, and picking up candy. I don't really feel like Chibi Robo is helping much at all in the grand scheme of things.

I also might be insane but World 6's music so far sounds a lot like Megurine Luka's "Glasses." It's throwing me off hard.

I'm surprised I haven't run into framerate issues either. I am on a new 3DS though, so that might be the reason.

You know after the low scores I had doubts of getting this... but holy shit. I'm loving it. Love zipping around and it feels fresh. The wheel at the end is odd, but so easy to buy what you want to ensure you go where you want to.

Weird, I was thinking that this one riff in World 6's music sounded really similar to a song from Major Minor's Majestic March...

And yes, the plot is very flimsy. if it weren't for the aliens constantly in the background I'd have totally forgotten they existed.

Finished the game. A solid 7 for me. It was solid, but nothing particularly wowed me that much. Enjoyed the last 3 bosses and unlocked the extra bonus levels in 2 minutes due to being lucky I guess. Super close to level 5 with the amiibo, but it's going to be kind of annoying to grind up for level 6. I'll just do it when costume hunting I guess.

Just beat 1-2. When do I get to start using amiibo?

Whenever you want? Scan him at the end of the levels to add score or save time and talk to Telly at Chibi House. He'll ask for the amiibo menu and you can update your amiibos score there. I'm lead to believe he holds up to 200k points only, so you'll have to scan every few levels.

You can also select the amiibo button at the bottom of the screen in the chibi house and put on some amiibos for coins or chibi for the capsule machine.

Can also select the amiibo button during a level to scan chibi to activate Super Chibi Robo.

A tip to anyone with the amiibo: using Super Chibi Robo is absolutely worth it for the submarine levels. Makes you move so much faster, they become far more enjoyable. Should've been the default speed to begin with!

Just beat the game, really enjoyed it! The word 'fresh' that I see mentioned is a great way to describe it honestly. I would play a full fledged Wii U release that played like that. Level design was quite smart to boot. I was impressed considering the reviews, but as mentioned, sounds like some critics did not give it the time it deserved.

Quick question though:
As far as we know, is World 7 the only bonus world?

This'll probably rub some people the wrong way but I think it makes perfect sense how they're using the Splatoon and Chibi Robo amiibo to unlock content. Both are amiibo made specifically for that one game whereas all the others were made first and foremost for Smash and have their main usage in that game. The Inklings and CR are not supported in Smash and thus need some stronger justification for their existence and so they get a bigger unlock on their own game. It should also be noted that Chibi Robo is a budget release at $30/€30 and the amiibo puts it just a fiver over the regular price of a 3DS game.

This is totally fine.

Personally I like when amiibos unlock something actually worthwhile, but I can understand the frustration of people who chose to buy it digitally/standalone and then discovered that they missed out on an entire 7th world, especially since (in the US at least) the amiibo is only available in a bundle.

Thanks so much! The sound design in the Chibi Robo games is excellent, I've been curious about this one due to the change in pace.

Was this game co-co-developed by Vanpool? Kiyoshi Kazemoto on sound makes it seem like they had a hand in this (they also co-developed Paper Mario: Sticker Star which surprised me). Also, Castlevania fans have been wondering what had happened to Soshiro Hokkai after Harmony of Dissonance, so it seems like he's either joined Skip or Vanpool. Cool.

Been really enjoying the game so far outside of some minor complaints: 1. Not really digging the spinning wheel after each level 2. The over use of explainer scenes, but this is Nintendo games mo so yeah.

There were hints a few days ago that this'll change in the coming weeks.

Now done with the
bonus world
, but does anyone know if
there is a boss stage for World 7? I'd imagine that answer is no.

EDIT: Pretty confident that
there are only 6.

Getting a tad butthurt and super petty at seeing people repost some of my miiverse code collecting almost word for word when I'm just updating it in two separate miiverse posts they could easily find through the popular posts tab. I super need those yeah's for no reason too.

Kotaku also posted an article about the costume codes. They made it sound as if a lot of people are scrounging codes, but it's probably only 3-5 people in reality I'd assume.

Anyone know where to get the Link costume? I'd appreciate it

Should be 3-5 going off Camjo's post from a few days ago.

It's not 1-6 or 2-6, I know that, but it seems the final stage in each world has a Nintendo-themed costume, so hopefully that should narrow things down.

The exception is 3-5. 5 or 6 tends to be pretty good to check out.

So far it is 1-6: Mario, 2-6: Dillon, 3-5: Link. Not far enough to say 4-6.

Zonic

Gives all the fucks
I know it probably won't be in, but now I want a R.O.B costume, so the robot can dress up as a robot.

4-6 is
KOOLOO LIM-PAH!

EDIT: Hm, World 5 really throws things off and puts the
Luigi
costume on 5-2.

So,
the final boss is behind a in-game currency paywall? Who thought that was a good idea?! The game is already padded enough as is (no thanks to the Destination Wheel and the recycled challenge segments), why did they do this?

Probably to make money have a use.

I had 25k at that point, so it turned out fine. I'd be a little surprised if people were that below the requirement of 20k or so. I don't think it's a particularly good design choice, but I would think it would be hard not to be close to the requirement at that point in the game.

This is a minor thing but I wonder what rarity the Falco pose has... he's the last amiibo with a figure that I have yet to scan in, but he doesn't come out til next month.

Guess I'll find out if I reach 199/200 figures before he's out. :p

I like the game pretty well, but you know what I hate? The fact that when you're hovering with Chibi's cord and you let go of the button, all forward momentum ceases for you to launch it. It just makes movement feel less fun.

Got the Link costume. It's great.
The game itself is pretty fun. I'd probably remove the dial thing from the level select and a few adjustments to the controls.
Hold L to aim diagonally. Like in Metroid fusion. A bit odd with the circle pad and the L isn't used for anything.
I'd make adjustments to the speed as well. If the roll didn't slow down near the end it would be fantastic. Feels great when going down a step (would be cool if you can press it multiple times to go fast)
The jump assist swing could be faster too, but I imagine that's for aiming properly
Try pressing L while hovering instead.
Hey, that works. Thanks

I just finished World 4, and have yet to miss the destination wheel at all, and I've never had to buy more than one piece to "complete" a gap between two 1s and make the whole thing trivial.

Which begs the question on why it exists in the first place, of course. So glad it disappears once a world is finished.

Yeah, reviews really blew it out of proportion, it's been a total nonissue for me. It shouldn't have been included but it's completely trivial to ignore it.
