Holy shit, the wedding is absolutely amazing. Genuinely hilarious, witty, and touching, and definitely one of my favourite quests in the game now. And that
Shani romance
straight after, wow.

Got the first boss in two tries, but yeah, they really throw you off by saying it doesn't care about fire and then it's actually EXTREMELY weak to fire. Reminded me of a Dark Souls boss in that I kind of had to hack at it slowly.

That aside, the writing has been stellar. Once you get to the first boss and beyond, everything is massively interesting.

Wow, just got hit up in Oxenfurt for
taxes
. I did the pearls glitch, myself. Didn't even know about the cowhide one, so I'm innocent.

How much money are they gonna take?

The wedding has completely changed my opinion of this dlc. I thought it was fine before, but now it's great and easily stands up against the main game content.

downloading :D

complete coincidence because i didn't even realize how close the dlc was, but i just beat the main story last night lol

looking forward to this because, as odd as it is, i actually never really liked the main witcher 3 story and thought the best part of the game were the side quests or just exploring caves and sewers ;p

You're in luck, because you definitely go back to the sewers here.

Ohhh is that what that was? Hahaha that's amazing, it seemed so random I thought it was a play on RPG tropes especially with the last question. Did they actually have a way to track how much money you made through exploits? Cause that would be pretty great.

I got a diploma for being a good person lol

So I know people said before it won't, but I -really- don't wanna mess up this playthrough: Can anyone confirm romancing Shani absolutely doesn't mess up things with Yennefer? I'm doing the expansion in my NG+ run before Geralt and Yennefer reconcile, so like his rut with Keira, I'm enjoying the idea of him kind of venting his annoyance at her about Yennefer not caring he had amnesia with Shani as well.

OK, I haven't played Witcher 3 since I finished up the main quest back in early July on version 1.06. Is anyone aware of any issues with Xinput and this game? I didn't have any issues back then, and I was on Insider Preview at the time, so I don't know if the change to Windows 10 can account for it. But I tried both a 360 controller and a PS4 controller using InputMapper for Xinput emulation, and both gave me weird issues with the game constantly switching to keyboard prompts/showing the mouse cursor, and issues with the d-pad not working well at all in menus.

What was so weird though was that I learned shortly after this that the game at some point added native support for the DS4 so I tried that (i.e. I turned off InputMapper) and suddenly everything worked great.

POST DLC QUESTION REGARDING SHANI

Can u see here again after she helps u into the University? I know she said she was leaving for Kaedwen but before she took off she told Geralt to meet up with her again before she left. I've beaten the dlc story and have spent 10 min running around Oxenfurt looking for her building but i cant seem to find it.

No, it doesn't affect the base romances at all.

Finished the expansion awhile ago. Kudos to CDPR's writers for the story; it was certainly dramatic and thought provoking. I consider it more interesting than the
Bloody Baron
questline.

The first boss was ridiculous, fortunately I didn't have as much trouble with the last.

I'm pleased that I haven't lost my touch with Gwent despite having not played it for several months. I'm really looking forward to Blood and Wine next year.

POST DLC QUESTION REGARDING SHANI

I tried to find her house too, but it seems to have disappeared. I don't think you'd be able to talk to her if you finish the expansion's story.

Second boss fight spoilers:

suck it wizard man

You playing on DM? If so, what level?
Unless I had him frozen with NW I could not get in close enough without him jumping on me or jumping away. Even then my lvl 33 melee attacks werent doing much to him. Ended up just plinking away at it with igni/bombs for 10minutes

Pfft... Whirl is more fun than effective. Those Sign users are the ones that need to be humbled.

I was lvl 58 on DM. When you get in close you must get your one or two hits right away at his sides because he will jump immediately. Each time close the distance avoiding all his attacks and repeat. Fight took a while but the mechanics felt really solid.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
I'm finding some of the encounters in this to be frustratingly difficult despite my high level and otherwise comfortable sailing through most of Blood and Broken Bones. Arena fights which begin with you literally surrounded in a small area after a monologue make for shitty fights with a dumb setup. Halberds with hitboxes that seem ahead of the animation one hit killing me do not help matters. Again I feel the only way to win is to cheese the game rather than enjoy the fight. Boo.

They kinda upped the character count in fights. I don't feel like I ever fought this many people in groups before.

Can anyone help me with where
Shani's location is in Oxenfurt? She said I could come by and visit her but I forgot where she was
.

Mild spoiler asking about where a known character's location is.

The supposed "10 hours of content" seems to be a bit on the lower side. At the rate I'm going I'm gonna guess this will take me at least 15+ hours to beat the main missions, side quests and POI's on the map.

Well, that's enough for today. Still amazing to see that it's quality as ever, even in the new-ish locations. Finally got a handle on the encounters! The Order of the Flaming Rose doesn't stand a chance.

This is really aggravating. My DLC code isn't working!! Keep getting PSN error E-82000168!!!

I got the retail version with the DLC code (such a fucking nice retail package with the Gwent cards; REALLY hope they do this with the next expansion and include the other two decks). Bought both the base game and this here in Taiwan and I did try using my secondary Taiwan PSN account to redeem.

WHAT THE FUCK?!

Maybe relax, the world isn't over. Google says PSN / store maintenence likely.

DAMNIT I WANT TO PLAY wtf PSN

Just beat the main story. I thought this was outstanding and that's before I even touched much of the side content at all. I would have felt it worth the price for that alone compared to some other DLCs that have come out this year (*cough* DA:I and Arkham City).

Love how the end concluded. Very
Hobbit-esque
. I assume you can complete it
in some type of combat if you lose? What happens if you don't help Olgierd?

Yeah I can't help but feel that CDPR has pushed their own fighting engine beyond its own limits with some of the fights. It's just not well designed or versatile enough, and it just increases the frustration as opposed to the challenge. Seems almost like they didn't have the same person designing the scenarios in this.

OKAY. CDProjekt Red, you guys are pretty good. The guy who stops you in Oxenfurt
who is basically a tax collected asking if you had partook in any of the early easy cash exploits like selling cow hides or pearls.
was pretty fucking funny.

At first I was just sitting here like "Who is this? Fuck off." Then I really started paying attention and that turned to "oh... OOOH"

Yea that tripped me out

Is there a list of all the new gwent cards yet? Haven't found anyone new to play and only one merchant had so new ones. Found a
cow
card at the wedding lol

Okay it worked. Woo!

Any reason to think they'll have a retail version of the next expansion with the other two Gwent decks packed in?

Cause this retail version is GORGEOUS! Makes me regret printing my own set of Gwent. Even comes in a beautiful box to house the decks in.

Very funny, CDPR. Geralt has his priorities!

I thought it was amusing that the Elf Merchant immediately asks about
Gwent and doesn't have much interest in actually selling stuff. That's how I treated pretty much every merchant on my playthrough of the game.

My goodness. These Runecrafting costs are insane! I thought I was doing well- startup, jade, tools, master tools- eeeeesh, we're looking at all my lifesavings here, let alone how much it costs to enchant!

Gah~! I think this kind scholar will have to wait. Forever.

I chucked with the trader in the circus that is obsessed with Gwent, and he is disappointed when you ask him for his goods, instead of playing.
And then, the only thing he actually sells, are two Gwent cards, lol.

edit: Dammit, Yeef already referenced him

Wait... If I did the pearl exploit they are going to take away most of the money? Thats... absurd. I'm fucked lol

I think I know the place you are talking about, and I didn't have a problem with that fight
(the underground knights of Flaming Rose doing fisstech?).
You see it coming, and have enough space to retreat and cull them as they approach in a tight group because there is less space, then you can come back to the arena and fight the rest.

For me, the second and third boss were the worst. The second because
the mage attacks so often you don't have time to do anything, every time I was going to attack, nope, avoid again, avoid again, quen shield down again, his attack interrupts you, etc. Not a fun fight.
The third one because
he is basically immune to normal attacks, normal signs, normal bombs, you basically don't have the opportunity of fighting him as you want, and instead have to fight him as the designer wanted: parry, parry, counter parry
.

For now, I found:

The
cow
card at the wedding.
Another card at the
auction
, you can win by playing one game.
Another card can be won playing Oldgier in Oxenfurt.
Same with Shani.
You can buy a few cards at the Ofier explorer.
And two more to buy at the elven trader in the
circus
.

The amount of content for a $8.50 DLC is insane. Really puts most other modern DLC pricing models to shame.

Yep, CDRProject is definitely the model to follow for all other Devs. I am extremely pleased with CDRproject and the way they do things. Definitely my studio of the year by a long shot, and from now till the end of the year, I don't see any games beating it for my GOTY.

Not only is the wedding fantastic, but the swag you get to wear through it is actually decent enough that you could use it in minor fights without too big of a handicap. Fashion lives.
