Assassin's Creed: Syndicate leaks early, PS4 impressions not... great.

I've heard more positive impressions than negative ones from the people who are playing the game, so I think I'll wait for some actual reviews.

-The game's frame rate is atrocious. Not as bad as Unity's, at least not so far, but it doesn't make it any better.

some of these impressions sound borderline hyperbolic. when he had posted that he had not installed any of the day 1 patches.

i'll wait for gaffer impressions and legit reviews as other people who have review copies have stated that performance is stable.

It's great, too. Definitely the best Assassin's Creed game since the first, which was the best of the whole series before. Highly recommend it. Loved it. A+ game.

Very excited for Syndicate based on how great Unity was.

Yep. I bought Unity on day 1 and never had any major issues with it. I thought it was the best since AC2. Seemed to me most of the hullaballoo was based on reports of glitches in pre-day 1 non-patched version of the game. Just like what's happening to Syndicate right now in this thread. Everyone's going to get it into their heads that Syndicate is a buggy broken piece of shit, whether it turns out to be true after the day 1 patches or not.

We'll see after the patches hit. If it's mostly just graphics, then that's not so bad. Reading stuff like the grappling hook being inconsistent and not being able to long-jump (???) sounds bad though. Overall, this report doesn't touch on enough things in enough clear detail to give too solid of an impression.

The downgrade from Unity was apparent the game was revealed, the crowds weren't nearly as dense. It makes sense to me though on some level. They didn't want the same performance issues Unity had.

If all this is true, then I see Watch Dogs 2 next year and then maybe the "return" of Assassin's Creed the year after that, because another Unity-like entry is going to kill the annualization of the franchise.

Bullshit
I'm not an Ac fan, the only two I liked was Ac2 and Black Flag. i think the real issue of Unity is the boooooooring gameplay and not the technical problems.

I think Syndacate, after just a couple of hours, is one of the best game in the franchise.

Can someone sum the initial impressions up for me in one sentence? I haven't been following Syndicate as I despised Unity, but I have a gap in my calender later this month before Fallout & Battlefront.

i think the real issue of Unity is the boooooooring gameplay and not the technical problems.

Worst thing about the Unity debacle was that no one ever talked about how fucking boring the actual game was. At 4K and 120 FPS that game would still be smelly nappy.

I imagine that some of the stuff about bugs should be fixed with a day 1 patch, but the stuff about both characters being carbon copies of one another won't change. When Ubi first said that they'd have both a male lead and a female lead I knew deep down in my heart that they'd half-ass it and just make a female skin for a male lead. Super disappointing to see my cynicism rewarded.

Not touching this game with a 10 foot pole. Crossing Eden is rolling in his Gaf Grave not being able to respond to this.

Yeah, but isn't he playing this without an (I would assume) Day 1 patch? If it's still broken after a Day 1 patch (like Unity), that might actually kill the franchise.

eh, i wouldn't put much stock in this guy's opinion considering the praise he's giving unity. "painting in motion" lol *pukes*

I kept hoping to see a skinless face and was sorely disappointed. I had no issues either and enjoyed my time. Hoping this one is the same, and I've got no real concerns it'll be a mess.

Then we have other impressions right here on GAF:

just some very quick bulletpoints because I am really pissed by all the seemingly unwarranted hate the game is getting:eek:n reddit and on gaf these days (and it's not even out yet)

- finished the full game last weekend (PS4)
- day one patch (1.11) is ~250mb (some people don't appear to have it installed)
- does not look as good as Unity but it's still pretty (it's by no means "ugly" as everyone on the internet currently makes it out to be)
- framerate appeared to be smooth with the occasional dips here and there, noticed no terrible slowdowns
- no major glitches for me during my initial playthrough (carriages physics are admittedly wonky, yes)
- parkour is smoother, still clunky, but way better than Unity
- I personally like the setting, Jacob is an idiot, Evie is just lovely, together they make a good team

any questions? just shoot

proof of you playing it... where?

So yet another sub 30 fps game ?!
I thought things would be different on ''next gen' ._. Back on last gen AC and Far Cry games were horrible due to bad framerate. With PS4 launch came Black Flag, Watchdogs and Farc Cry 4 and they were finally at solid 30fps. I thougt great Ubisoft changed and framerate takes priority. But then came Unity and now this...

Fuck those clowns at Ubisoft.

I am most shocked that somebody paid a premium to play AC a few days earlier. I don't want to play this series even if somebody paid me...

This franchise really needs a break...until about 2020...

For you.
They desperately need to STOP annualizing this franchise. They're producing these massively on a conveyor belt. The attention to quality and passion just isn't there. Compare that to the 5 year in the making non annualized open world MGSV and it's not even a competition.
At least AC ships with all the chapters in and not missing a third of the ganr ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Each AC also has 2/3 years of development só im not sure the time is the culprit.

Apparently there will be two patches on the day it's released. Pretty ridiculous, but at least they're working on it.

He was banned? :/

Yea I have been meaning to ask somebody what happened. I actually thought that lately he had calmed down and stopped being massively dismissive and condescending.

Biggest disappointment is Jake and Evie playing exactly the same.

The technical stuff is no surprise and will be addressed with patches. Visual downgrade doesn't really bother me, the game's still in "good enough" territory from what I've seen.

That's nice to hear.

Honestly though, the impressions for this will only affect whether or not I get it way down the line when it's cheep cheep cheep. Got 4 games on my mind this holiday season, and AC Syndicate aint one.

Wow. I have to disagree with you hardly regarding the first AC. Of course, it's just my opinion but I firmly believe AC2 is the best one by far.

If this is all accurate, I feel terrible for those that have pre-ordered this game. That being sad, hopefully this will spur Ubisoft to just put a bullet into this IP's head, it "jumped the shark" a long time ago anyway.

Who in their right mind would actually pre-order this after last year's disaster that was Unity.

You basically deserve it by that point to get shat on by Ubi.

I liked the first AC's vision and story it was telling. While I liked AC2 a lot, it felt like the focus testing homogenization of the gameplay mechanics drove me away from what I felt was so compelling about the first. No big deal though, opinions always vary especially with the first AC.

Man he's right this game looks like it came before AC:unity, Christ that game is really one of the most beautiful game I have ever seen.
