How did you come to that conclusion if they had a shortage of gift cards?
There was stink before when they stopped honouring gift cards. Could be that they're in a similar situation again and want to avoid the negativity, could be a problem with a supplier.Companies stop selling gift cards when they are going out of business, because then the gift card is useless.
I don't know if that's what he's getting at, though.
After initially going all digital this gen, I've switched back to physical retail recently. I've also just received an email from GAME regarding their "sale".
Both experiences which have lead to me to believe absolutely FUCK ALL has changed about GAME or their business model since last time. Their approach to sales, prices on new stock and trade in values are routinely the worst on the high street.
Surprised they lasted this long. I guess the amount of shops they had then canned, the lack of highstreet competition after Zavvi gave up helped them limp on. Do HMV still exist ?
Won't miss them.
Couldn't this suggest the opposite? Perhaps there's lots of people buying them? Bit premature OPWent to two shops trying to buy a gift card and was told there's a "nationwide shortage".
Examples? 10% off after putting 10 quid on the "retail" price? In typical Game fashion.
I've paid £120 for my uncharted 4 special edition, so it better fucking not be.
Games in the "sale" that are 20% more expensive than I paid a year ago. Enjoy those £44.99 copies of GTA V
This isn't America, you shouldn't be paying for pre orders.
I'm not missing out on that statue.
Every store they have is profitable now. Every single one. I believe they're better than Amazon at selling DVDs and Blu-rays in the UK now and their prices are frequently equal or better.Yeah but they closed down a load of stores a couple of years ago.
I don't believe they are in any major trouble at the moment though.
why do you pay for preorders though? i have 3 preorders with game and haven't spent a penny.
Gary Oldman is a GAME manager now?and was told that a manager somewhere had accidentally ordered ALL THE GIFT CARDS
Let it burn I say, they have been ripping us off setting rediculasly high price points on retail exclusives like the H:5 ultra 300£ edition for years, good riddance
You must be mixing GAME up with Cex.They should just be able to print out a receipt with the code on for store credit, so if they didn't offer that alternative it does seem like something is up. Dunno what though.
