Old Logitech wheels [with FFB] are now playable on PS4 via homebrew PC app

Can I use the Arduino Leonardo instead of the Teensy 2.0 to build the DIY adapter to connect the G25 to the PS4?

Teensy is very difficult to find in my country :/

Is it difficult to make (both hardware and software sides, with Win10)?

Yes, the Arduino Leonardo is listed here as supported: http://gimx.fr/wiki/index.php?title=DIY_USB_adapter#AVR_USB_development_board

Beginner's guide to assembling and connecting the adapter: http://gimx.fr/wiki/index.php?title=DIY_USB_adapter_for_dummies

The guide is using the Teensy 2.0, so I don't know how much different the connections are if you're using a different board.

Also there is another video with Driveclub and the Driving Force GT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzwcNtaNnjo

The waiting for my parts to arrive is very tough...

It's possible to use one according to the wiki. However, I think you will need to use an ISP to upload the new firmware on it (can't confirm yet though). It's possible to use another arduino as an ISP though, there are guides online for that.

Can't wait for the tutorial on how to setup a Pi to do this, the teensy and arduino seem a little tough to do.

Unless someone changes the code you'll still need the adapter even with the Pi :/

Man the DFGT is so much noisier than the G27

The teensy board I ordered on Friday is already at my local post office. The usb connector thing arrived today. My usb cables should arrive tommorrow as well.

Feel bad for the people that ordered from china
I ordered my serial cable from another state and it's still not here yet. Stupid Australia Post :/

Edit: In that G27 video for DC, the overlayed video is out of sync with the game, but in sync with the wheel.

Oh, the step by step usb adapter for dummies is excellent. I can do that too, as a dummy in electronics. Guys, let us know of your experience, and I shall order parts too. (I'm not adventurous)

This is all very exciting - I'm chuffed to bits for you chaps. Hope everything works as intended and some nasty fucker in a suit doesn't find a way to nerf them.

Finding the info to make this a bit confusing! Like to have it connected by USB and using RPi rather than a PC so hopefully others are interested in the same setup and make an idiots guide for me :p

Had a quick look for the pinned Teensy 2.0 in the UK but not had much luck, something Ill properly look at in a couple of weeks

So, using the Arduino Leonardo is somehow difficult for one with no specifics skills.

I can just wait for better times :(

I tried it earlier with a Arduino Pro Micro and you need to short GND to RST shortly after you connect it to USB. I shorted it a few times and then I could flash.

Haven't continued past that yet.

I've heard about something called the M4 Adapter, that does the same thing, and its about 100$. It looks much simpler than whats being used in this thread..

http://www.match4newconsole.com/product/m4-converter-official-edition/

「M4」Converter allow you to use all previous generations game controller on your PS4 & XboxOne, they included, Logitech G27, Quanba Arcade Joystick, G-Mate Mag Gun etc.

「M4」perfectly support the convertion of all PS4, PS3, XboxOne, Xbox360 controller. You may now use any of your controller, across these platform.

Installation are very easy. Please refer to your video tutorial.

For more information, please refer to all the order articles on this website.

or M4 Official Facebook fanspage

Any info on this? I can't find much online.. I'm not sure if legit

That doesn't have force feedback support. This does.

The M4 also has some crazy lag compared to this GIMX solution, going by their "promotion" video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zHex46wG_U

I should have all my parts put together within the next few hiurs
Damn, I'm beaten!

If you haven't read the latest updates, the latest GIMX won't work with the G27 on the Pi. I'll be using it on a Win10 tablet so that's no issue, just giving you a heads-up :)

I've got everything pretty much setup but I can't get the G27 wheel to respond in Driveclub. I'm not sure at what point, if any, I need to actually connect the wheel to the ps4 (as opposed to leaving connected to the computer)

Yeah, you never connect the wheel to the PS4. This is how it works, from what I can tell:

Wheel is connected to PC. PC is connected to serial converter. Serial converter is connected to USB (Teensy or whatever the programmable Atmel device is), which converts the serial signals of the G27 to something the PS4 will interpret as a connected G29.

I don't know where having a PS4 controller comes into it, if it has to be plugged into the Windows box or the PS4 or even at all (might just be for bluetooth, and not direct USB connection).

I didn't really bother reading any tutorials yet, but you would never connect it to the PS4 as far as I am aware, its only connected to the PC.

You also authenticated the whole thing with the PS4 controller? http://gimx.fr/wiki/index.php?title=Quick_Start
Yeah, I think so.

Edit: I know it says this:
PS4: it is required to have a genuine DS4 wired to the PC all the time. Once GIMX is started, press the key that is mapped to PS to activate the controller.
But given the G27 and G29 don't get "authenticated" (I mean, you can still use non-approved controllers for PS4, so long as it has a driver) maybe it's not necessary? Will have to see how it works first-hand.

The G29 has a security chip, but your G27 doesn't.
It makes sense (to me, at least) that you need one -from the controller- to masquerade your G27 as a G29. Because that's how this software works: fooling the console into thinking there's a genuine G29 wheel connected.

But how do you explain games like Skullgirls working with a custom driver?

As I understand it, then the chip authentication is for system level support, but individual games can support any controller if the game provides a driver for it.

That's why a game like War Thunder strangely enough can be controlled with old Logitech wheels.

Seeing the amount of software you have to use, are we sure this is safe? I am gonna run it on my notebook, so I don't care so much, but still...

So had anyone got this to work yet? Want to try it but not skilled enough that if it doesn't work what might have gone wrong. Also while Ive got a MBP Id rather I could get this all to work without issue using a RPi which doesn't sound like a priority for the dev right now (still unsure if 5.2 supports it)

More interested in this than PGW this week!

Received my Teensy today, will get the usb converter tomorrow. Not sure that'll have enough time tomorrow but I am pretty excited (also new Driveclub content!).

Same here. Installation went well and I can use the wheel and the controller in the Gimx config, but not in the PS4.

The last few steps in the tutorial are also explained poorly and I am not sure if I need to do something with libusbK or not.

PC set as combined axis or something?
PS4 throttle set to triggers/button?

Feedback working?
That's the thing, I know how convoluted the Logitech software is and it's endless options, I'm not sure how any of them interact with GIMX (if at all).

For those trying this, is it safe to say this wouldn't be too taxing of a thing to run? I'm tempted to just use my MSI Windpad tablet (has an AMD Brazos Z01, running @ 1GHz dual-core) with Windows 10.

Oh, and would a USB 1.1 hub be sufficient? Said tablet has only one port and the only hub I have kicking around at home is a shitty 1.1.

I was rather hoping to see lots of reports of it all working seamlessly by now, with full FFB support and all the bells and whistles. Is it all still a bit hit and miss?

Well it requires some work, its no 15 minute out of the box solution but rather requires quite some exact reading and looking around in the forums. It's also just been released so there might be improvements in the future.

Let's hope this somehow encourages Logitech and Sony in releasing official drivers for legacy wheels.

They could even release a paid app through the PS store, if they want. Free money.
