off screen pics Driveclub VR

someone said "good enough, is good enough" speaking on Playstation VR. I'm inclined to agree.

DriVR - missed a trick Sony.

Hard to make much out, but that looks pretty decent to me. I really think VR games have to be tried before much of a judgement can be made on the worth of its visuals.

Surely playing something like that at 30fps is not going to be comfortable for any length of time?

I thought the threshold for motion sickness was meant to be in the region of <75fps?

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Happy to see Sony coming at VR strong. Get those ducks in a row.

Its 60fps, interpolated to 120 with the special magic.

This is a splintered off new version of the game. Environments are sparser and whatnot to account for the VR demand.

This will be mine someday. Wheel and everything. I literally cannot wait, I am considering freezing myself to hasten the passage of time.

I do wonder how close vanilla DC runs to 60 the majority of the time if it was unlocked.

IIRC it never drops a frame below 30 even under stressful conditions

Should be really interesting to see if VR can really become a thing next year. What they showed during their press conference didn't convince me at all and i really believe only a few genres lend themselves to this.

Just a reminder, the image on the screen is taken from ONE eye [half the screen] and transformed from fisheye form back into 2D mode.

So its half of 1080p, that was warped for PSVR, and then de-warped back in a breakout box so it can be viewed on normal HDTV. Don't analyse it too much for image quality. :D
Well we have people who have played it and said the graphics aren't that far off from the DriveClub we play now.

I've been very lucky to try Driveclub VR and it's the best gaming experience I've ever had in over 20 years simply amazing #PlayStationVR

Q- what exactly does it do?
A- makes you smile ;) VR feels like your in the car it's Insane.

Q- How did you get to try it? How severe were visual cut backs?
A- it still looked amazing not as clear as a tv but the feeling was amazing no motion sickness just a big smile #Driveclub

We got impressions yet on how it looks/feels in a VR environment?

Eurogamer was very happy with it.

Does anyone know if this is 60 fps reprojected to 120?
Yes it is. In this prototype demo, DC is running at 60fps in 3D [anti-fisheye SBS] mode. This is then upscaled to 120fps [with appropriate frame warping] so that responsiveness of the head movement gets better.

The downgrade must be massive i guess.. i wonder what's left of the game's graphics, light etc.. But still i'm interested

Ah ok, haven't read anything about the new version of the game up to this point. Should be decent. This is the kinda game that VR is perfect for. To gain real immersion and sense of speed.

Yeah, good point -- I remember reading that Uncharted 4 demo was running at an average of something closer to 37fps, but naturally it's locked at 30 for consistency.

Im surprised Uncharted runs that low on average. Usually the minimum framerate is more than 7 below the average. Impressive if it's that consistent

I imagine Driveclub probably runs as high as 45-50 under clear weather and single car on some environments
