Those numbers look low to me across the board.
I agree. Just looked at the site and yeah....it's not THAT great across the board. Downloading the EA access trial to see how it is.

Is it fair to say that console gamers are often easily mislead by hype/marketing more than PC gamers? PC gamers make better decisions with their money and are generally more informed than your average console gamer IMO.
For example, there was a Steam group that started a movement to boycott MW2 on PC due to a lack of features -- if I recall correctly it was mainly due to the absence of dedicated servers. The movement proved to be ineffective, as most of the members of the group bought and played MW2. By most marketing metrics, MW2 on PC was a success.
Early access is being used against PC gamers? Those people know exactly what they're getting themselves into. To complain about early access is a little silly. Those people are fully aware they bought an unfinished product.
Choosing what's games you buy makes you discerning?
Then we all are.
Some of the posts in this thread are down right embarrassing.
This thread Jesus christ.

PC Gamers are da smartest and most knowledgable gamers.
Says the group of people who literally invested $50,000 for a jpeg of a spaceship in a game that may or may never come out.
This thing will never die. The group was open, and the image showed page 1 of 17, so no, it wasn't "most of the members".
Yes that's what I'm saying console players probably would be just as discerning provided they had the same opportunities. The simple fact is. They don't.
And we're done here, this thread is just taking potshots at each others platforms, embarrassing.PC Gamers are da smartest and most knowledgable gamers.

I can't help but wonder what those PC numbers would be like if it was sold on Steam.
They certainly count.EA Access inflation in there too, no?
His exact quote was:
I was just pointing out that is hilariously rich considering a game like Star Citizen 'exists'.
I missed the update, thanks. Do you have a screenshot of page 2/the other pages? Genuinely curious.
I don't think they would be better, simply because- Look at COD!
42,800-ish people are playing BLOPS 3 on Steam right now. I am sure that number is much, much higher on PS4/Xbox One.
Meanwhile, CSGO, right now, has over 666,000 people playing. Are you shittin me? There is some disconnect there. Most def different crowds on PC and Console. Lots of overlap, but the FPS scene is very different.
Over 82,000 are playing TF2 right now. Almost twice as many people are playing a game from 2007 versus the biggest FPS franchise that was just released.
I'm not sure why it is like this. Why is Ark so popular? These FPS games are neither flashy. They are early access, rough as sandpaper and sort of broken and many PC gamers can't get enough of them.
I think many PC gamers (for better or worse) are bored with games like COD/Battlefield/Star Wars. They are attracted to new experiences because they are older and more jaded. Many of them can't shut the fuck up about how the golden days of 1.6 and BF2 are over. A mix of nostalgia and just being older has made them jaded. And if it isn't as insanely beautiful as something crazy like Star Citizen, this is not enough for their sensibilities.
I think many console gamers are less engaged in games, and better at just shrugging it off and having fun. I feel that most people who complain for days over DLC margins, FOV sliders, and the like come from the PC camp.
He made a stupid generalization about console players and you reacted with a stupid generalization about pc gamers. Both remarks are equally stupid IMO.

What!?
Tf2 is still popular Because its free to play and obviously has a great legacy same as cs.
Destiny is a prime example where people are busy playing it for console along with cod
Yes, new experiences, like Counter-Strike.
I am not questioning that TF2 is popular. I am saying, that the game being 8 years old, and still having twice as many players on average as the latest entry of the biggest gaming franchise on the planet is weird.
There are plenty of good free-2-play games with a good legacy, that hasn't had this sort of retention.
We can look to other genres. WoW is another example of a game that still has around 5 millions players paying a subscription. The game is practically ancient.
I don't think we see this retention on consoles, and I am not sure why. (Also, can't comment on Destiny, haven't played it, but is that being played by more people right now than BLOPS3/Battlefront?).
Origins is a much bigger reason why this game doesn't sell well than any nonsense like "PC Gamers are wiser with their money".
If this came out on Steam, we would be seeing numbers closer in line to the Xbox version.
A few people are taking the sales of a particular game a "bit" too personally.
This thread is turning fucking ugly. Yeesh

Yes, new experiences, like Counter-Strike.
I think consoles are marketed to their player base differently as well. The whole, got to get the new box in 5-6 years, and play the new hotness of games.
When the big three finally push forward their ecosystems of service based, ala Steam, and have their libraries from each generation accessible moving forward, that is when I think you will see the shift there as well. It is like that on Mobile too, because the games move in one ecosystem like the PC has.

Right- But then do you think that, if people on Xbox 360 could play Halo 3 / Halo Reach with people on Xbox One, (and future XBoxs) that we would then be able to see a better retention in these console online communities?

I am genuinely puzzled because obviously there are these amazing experiences online on console (despite PSN/XBL trying to fuck it up) like TLOU. But is TLOU online community going to still be a thing when PS5 rolls around? Shouldn't it? It seems the MP is good enough for it!
I would like to see developers moving forward thinking more in terms of a crossplatform future, so the game is not being stranded.
Valve and Blizzard have always been great at having a long support strategy and I think that should be the norm.
I would feel so much better about Call of Duty if I knew the community would not be segregated into next years release. But I have a feeling that many console gamers would look at me funny for having that viewpoint. And I wonder, why? Or what if it worked sort of like with starcraft 2. If no matter if you had BLOPS1, AW, Ghost, BLOPS2 or BLOPS 3, everyone could still sort of play together and lobby together. You might not be able to get the weapons or start a matchmaking for the other games, but you would still be able to play and interacte with the shit within your own game.
That could be a way not to split the community!

No, not really. COD still doesn't sell crazy numbers on PC. The FPS market on PC simply has other cheaper and more deeper options. I don't see how this is so hard to comprehend. You're competing with CSGO which has swallowed most of the FPS audience and the stragglers are spread out across TF2 and a variety of other F2P games. I don't see why this is so hard to comprehend.
Battlefront is a game that reviewed poorly, has shallow gameplay, little content, and $60 season pass. When you're looking at that versus playing CSGO for like 10 bucks or whatever it goes for these days, why spend your time there.
If the game was good enough, people would go through Origin to get to it. Didn't stop people from playing BF3 and BF4. It's not.
I really can't wait for Overwatch to come out and add a little spice to the PC FPS community. I love CS:GO but I'm extremely curious and excited to play a Blizzard designed FPS.No, not really. It think it's rather simple at a high enough level of abstraction:Meanwhile, CSGO, right now, has over 666,000 people playing. Are you shittin me? There is some disconnect there.
Did i miss sales numbers for Any of these games so far? What is this thread right now? I thought it couldn't get any worst than everybody falling for pr and 90% digital than the other side saying it bombed n that halo threadFanboys. When it's announced that a game has sold well for a particular platform, it's time to celebrate unequivocally. When it's announced that a game didn't sell well for a particular platform, or didn't perform well in comparison to another, then it's time to conjure up excuses in an attempt to justify why it's not the fault of said platform.
Completely unrelated to the above, but since I looked at them for this thread, the overall concurrent numbers for SWBF across all platforms are a bit lower than I would have expected. Maybe FO4 just gobbled up too much of the market this month with its ridiculous sales.
