Aaaaand of course Sony would block this.

smh what a dumb decision.

It's bad business to block something that will generate more software sale but they have a legal obligation to do so plus this is obviously an exploit that could lead to potential piracy

I think the fact that there was also a trophy hack on the same day as this one was all it needed to be doomed. I kind of wish they didn't bother with releasing that trophy hack, but don't know if that would have made the whitelist hack safe either way.

What was the trophy hack? Missed that development entirely.

Do I need to update the FW for remoteplay to work? I use my PSTV these days mainly for remoteplay (partly because the UK whitelist is so shit ironically), so I'm stuck as to what to do. Don't really want to buy another (and don't have enough HDMI inputs anyway)

The whitelist hack was the big news, but the same guy created a trophy hack that you could completely mess around with your trophies. Truly useless except for completely making sure Sony steps in. Don't understand the mentality of falsifying trophies at all.

Yes remote play won't work unless you update.

Knew it was too good to be true, glad I held off the purchase. The response from Sony was inevitable, but how they're handling PS TV as a product is just fucking stupid.

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.

Oh please. You couldn't even sync those. It was basically a local database hack.

Well I fucked up, not sure what I did wrong...

Ps tv on 3.20, did the hack, it worked, checked that it didn't get lost on shut down.

Did the update to 3.55, made sure to never go to the store or download anything, and it still patched my whitelist and the hack is gone.

I thought the whitelist only got updated when downloading games from the store but nope.

Hack doesn't work anymore, the #0 file says "done" now and it won't even try to open.

I'm super bummed out, oh well, I was expecting it to break.

If you synced them you got account banned.

Did you block the updated on your router?

It says done because you've clicked it.

Send the email again.

Edit: wait, you're on 3.55?! You're fucked. Sorry. Email writer is blocked on 3.55. Not quite sure why you updated.

My advice is deactivate the console, sell it and get a new one. They're cheap enough (£30 here in the UK at CEX boxed as new).

Did you block the updated on your router?

Well I updated the PS TV on purpose to continue using PS4 remote Play, I was hoping it would preserve the whitelist as stated earlier as long as I didnt download anything from the store :(

I didnt block the Sony's Whitelist URL thought, maybe thats where I failed, my plan was to move all my games from my Vita and never download anything from the actual PS TV.

When I did the hack I was on 3.20, made sure it didnt get lost on shutdown but it still got lost after update, as above, I really wanted to have both Remote Play and the whitelist, oh well.

The whitelist would update even when I blocked those specific sites on my router, so I either didn't block them right or it doesn't work. But reenabling the hack is easy enough, works every time too.

I'm beginning to think that blocking the white list is now more trouble than it's worth at this point (using this hack). Remote play is eliminated. Access to online stuff is eliminated. Netflix no longer works. Yes, I get to play some games on my TV that are also playable on my Vita, but at this point the hack is more pain than gain for me. I think I'm going to bite the bullet and just do the update.

This is more useful for the people that don't have a Vita tbh or those who want to play the non-whitelist on a big tv and don't care about the online feautres... The homebrew situation is basically PSP or older emulation atm which any newish tablet/phone can do better so yeah, it's not really worth it imo either.

As someone without a hacked vitatv, can l simply just redirect the vitatv white list to the vita whitelist via a proxy? I'm only after the ability to play a few games that are blocked.

The Vita doesn't have a whitelist. It just plays everything you can put on it.

I did the trick using Wololo's emails and was able to run an unsupported game (Hot Shots Golf). Of course, I would love to have my PSN games on it but I don't want this PSTV to online. It's already registered to my PSN account so if I use another PSTV to download all my stuff into a memory card and then put it on the offline PSTV, will I need to get online for my games to work?

it has to have at least some sort of blacklist that prevents you from launching certain ps1 and psp games. as evidenced by the period of a few days last year where everything was playable on vita and now it's not

That was an issue with the download list. If you downloaded those games when that happened, you'd still be able to play them now. This is different from PSTV where you can download anything that's downloadable on Vita, but then aren't able to play it.

Yeah, this. Vita doesnt prevent you from launching anything.

Got a PS TV for 20 euro (gamestop sale, Italy), I was on the fence but for such a price it's mandatory to get it :p
Should I update it or not?

Ok, so I was reading through the thread but I can't find an answer...Is it possible to download games I own on PSN for PsVita/Psone Classics with a "locked" ps tv? Or I would be stuck only with games on cartridges?

Well I got one but apparently it got updated to 3.55, it shall be relegated to PS4 streaming and some other compatible Vita games since I don't own a PS Vita.

"You need to update the system software in order to use this memory card."

Ahahahaha... fuck you Sony.

Blergh, guess that'll mean I probably won't be able to use my memory card in it anymore. Downloaded some dlc and updates from PSN on my Vita for P4DAN.

No prevention I assume?

Edit: Yeah, can't use it. Blergh. Not the end of the world as I've another memory card, but it's not as big. :|

Yea, I just got a playstation Vita with 3.35, and I have a Vita with a much of games on it. Am I screwed since I can't download anymore games due to software encryption on the memory card? At this point, I should bite the bullet and update the device to use key features.
