Abomasnow is one of the most popular Pokemon of the 4th gen. It's like saying Lucario is a bad design or something.
Gonna have to agree with you here. Gen IV designs just rub me the wrong way for the most part. Wouldn't call Spiritomb, Garchomp, or Lucario great either, and Drifblim is on the edge.
I know, I removed the line about Abomasnow in the quote because I was commenting on the thread being depressing part. If it came across as condescending or mean-spirited, that wasn't my intent. I just find it funny that everyone here is so invested in their favourites that they can't tolerate other people disliking them. And I'm guilty of that too!

I honestly like pretty much all of them except for Quagsire and Bidoof. Those two need to burn for all eternity.
I love Shinx too and I use him throughout Gen IV but I was just so dissapointed in Luxray. Lions are define by their mane and Luxray had the worst one I ever seen on any fictional lion.
I assume it's easier for me to like things because I find all of those Pokemon amazing. Garchomp is in my top 5. It's a land shark aircraft monster. That's like the one coolest things ever.

Luxray is a lynx, not a lion.
Although Shinx looking just like Kimba the White Lion is probably what makes people think the line is based off lions.
Pretty sure it is. In fact it even has a mane thing going on for gender even. Lynxes aren't "regal" like that. You also got Rivalry, Luxio (leo), and Shinx (sphinx, no it's not based on the name of lynx despite what many people say). Luxray has a mane, has a tail fluff, and its evolution relies on its mane growing.
Maybe when a lynx starts looking ilke a lion
Honestly the thing that really bothers me about Garchomp is that it always looks so angry. Dude needs to chill the fuck out.

Garchomp just seems like some focus tested 'ultra cool' Pokemon to me.

Garchomp does scream "XRTREEEME!" Add to its pretty ridic power and I never liked it.

Also on the topic of Luxray vs. Pyroar, I personally think Pyroar looks too gaudy (in both male and female formes), it gives me a new appreciation of Luxray's more subtle mane because Pyroar's is too over-emphasized.

I don't mind Garchomp, but I would like Flygon to get some more attention. Every Hoenn Dragon type has a mega evolution except Flygon. Salamence, Altaria, Latios, Latias, and Rayquaza, but not Flygon...

It's a toss up for me between Garchomp and Hydreigon as the worst looking pseudo. As others have said, Garchomp just looks so over-the-top EXTREME BADASS to the point of ridiculousness imo, and Hydreigon isn't much better in that regard, plus it has emotionless dead eyes. At the moment I'd rank them as...

Hydreigon looks a bit silly (it really should have a fully formed lower half) but it definitely gives off the sense of violent, destructive monster that will kill anything that moves. I'm pretty fond of it.
Even if Garchomp is edgy, it undeniably nails the "intimidating aura" that most Pokemon don't have. I think the panel from the Pokemon Adventures manga does a good job of illustrating that:
If I were to rate them, i'd probably order them like so:
Garchomp > Tyranitar > Metagross > Hydreigon > Dragonite > Goodra

Takes too long to get one due to it evolving at a high level, so it's highly anyone will use it on their in-game team. ¬_¬;
