Media Create Sales: Week 49, 2015 (Nov 30 - Dec 06)

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Well, 3DS sales will make them smile, Mario Maker's performed solidly, and all of those games were cheap titles with heavily reused assets. I'm sure internal expectations were pretty damned low.

They're filling time on both platforms now, so I'd be surprised if anyone in Nintendo was losing sleep over the performance of these titles.

Isn't Zelda also doing mostly in line with the former Four Swords games in Japan? So far, I'd say that Super Mystery Dungeon is a disappointment, while Amiibo Festival and Chibi Robo are straight up bombas. Mario & Luigi is trending towards the bomba territory as well.

Really surprising to see PS4 getting those numbers without an important release, guess the price was the tipping point after all?

I have a sneaking suspicion that when we get a title that is actually effective as a direct comparison (DQ11, one would assume), we'll find that DQ is bigger on handhelds these days. It's a tough call, there. FF hasn't really ever been driven by handhelds anyway.

He's not saying DQ is bigger in console than handheld, he's saying it's bigger on console than Monster Hunter is on console. Read what he is responding to.

Fucking Monster Hunter man. Nothing else even stands a chance. Really makes you wonder what will happen when PS4 gets a Monster Hunter game. How much of a bump will it give a home console as opposed to the insanity that occurs on handhelds whenever they release I wonder.
Oh God you opened the can of worms already

The price on that bundle doesn't really make it easier for Splatoon, does it?

Well, if you're a kid, the price isn't easy to justify the purchase (remember: Wii U bundles' prices have costantly gone up for whatever reason). But, if you're a squid, things are different.

The answer to this is easy.

Alphadream = Kirby RPG

Intelligent Systems = Paper Mario 3

I'm definitely more of paper Mario guy, but at the same time BiS and superstar saga are brilliant. I also like PiT a lot. Haven't played the other two.

Maybe Camelot can try their haND at another rpg like Kirby. Or monolithsoft like when they did attack on the saiyains.

Nope, give me a console m&l with 3d exorable environments please. Or just put paper Mario rpg on consoles. That's one franchise I haven't come close to franchise fatigue on. They just need to return to greatness...

Kirby would be cool though....but it would need some really good NPCs. Does anyone come close to bowser

The game is good though, I hope it sells better in the west.

And regarding this week top

MH is strong. This franchise seems unstoppable on portable. It's the 3rd party equivalent of Pokémon (Yokai seems to be too close to Pokémon imo to keep the sales very high for the next upcoming years).

And Splatoon !!!! I'm so happy that a new franchise on a system that wasn't and still doesn't really sell a lot get the attention it deserves.

Simply astonishing looking at 3DS numbers and software sales.

PS4/Wii U sales would be decent for a normal month, bad for holiday period. This numbers should be the average monthly sales not holiday sales ...

Wii U got a monster hunter game. Not much happened and it would be the same on PS4.

Will be interesting to see what MH will do on NX.

I just feel like after 5 M&L games in a row it'd be nice to see Alphadream try something else. And they're a tiny team that specializes in 2D so I don't think jumping to a fully 3D console M&L is really the answer. As is they even needed Vanpool to help out the 3D sections of the 3DS games.

Camelot would actually be better suited to a bigger 3D console Mario RPG, provided they're given the time and resources for it.

Yeah it seems good from reviews and what I've seen.

The second week yso predictions might show some legs. It bombed in the UK but France, Germany, and the US might do better

PS3 Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution 5,334 / 15,969
PSV Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution 2+ - 3.030 / ???

Hardly a disaster, but really doesn't seem worth making either, considering they're not doing a physical release in the west so it probably won't gain much traction over here.

That FuRyu game seems to have disappointed on Vita, they haven't had much luck with their anime tie-ins on the console outside of To Love Ru which did well twice.

Very lukewarm starts for Mario & Luigi and Minecraft on PS4. I guess both with have legs, though how much for the latter one is questionable.

Blimey, Youkai Just Dance did even worse than I was expecting.

Hardware is decent all round this week though (relatively), which is nice.

I wonder if it's got a chance of making the million solely from retail by the end of the year (it's well past including digital now, isn't it?)

Every week I'm saying the same, but the million was guaranteed this year since forever
(ok, since the announcement of the bundle).

3DS sales were expected but what did PS4 & WiiU have? They seem to have sold well too.

PS4 had a new model this past week:

[PS4] PlayStation 4 Jet Black 1TB <H-W> (Sony Computer Entertainment) (¥43.178)

Wii U just entered in Holiday season mode.

Yeah, in my perfect world PM is on consoles and m&l is on handhelds. Without mixing the two. Hm, almost like before.

Yeah it'd be cool to see Camelot do something rpg wise. Or monolith as an in between project If they're big enough.

TTYD would make such a good and easy HD remake too. The sprites were already huge and down sampled in the original gc game so you wouldn't even have to touch them.

FF and DQ is bigger on home consoles.

It's really arguable for DQ.
I have a sneaking suspicion that when we get a title that is actually effective as a direct comparison (DQ11, one would assume), we'll find that DQ is bigger on handhelds these days. It's a tough call, there. FF hasn't really ever been driven by handhelds anyway.
Let's see sales figures between the two DQ11 versions first.

I think you kinda missed his point which was about FF and DQ being bigger than MH on home consoles (which is most likely true), not FF and DQ being bigger on home consoles than on handhelds.

Haha yea going by the reactions here I see I might have made a mistake... Aaaaanyway, not really sold on DQ being a heavy hitter for home consoles. FF I could see but DQ seems to have shifted heavily to handhelds and I fully expected the 3DS version to absolutely destroy the PS4 version in Japan.

So, since this week Wii U got a bigger boost than PS4, even with the 1TB model, do you think next week Wii U will outsell PS4?

Wow Splatoon increased even more.

Splatoon is a beast. Will this game wind up being more popular, selling more than a historic Nintendo IP on the Wii U?

If so....that should be a message to Nintendo..... time to branch out more from traditional Nintendo mascots.

Wii U is really doing far better than it should given that release schedules for it are paper thin and a successor isn't too far away.

The power of Splatoon, eh.

So basically no more metroid, f zero, star fox, yoshi, is what you mean lol

Whats the best selling Vita game so far?

How long till Vita Minecraft matches or overtakes it coz at this rate the game will probably hit 500K by Feb or March next year

I think is Minecraft including digital sales.

Without digital it's beaten it not counting re-releases; and it'll get there soonish if we count them.

Media Create (end of 2014):

147. [PSV] God Eater 2 # <ACT> (Bandai Namco Games) {2013.11.14} (¥5.980) - 52.509 / 423.536
271. [PSV] God Eater 2 [1/1][PlayStation Vita the Best] <ACT> (Bandai Namco Games) {2014.07.10} (¥3.024) - 23.453 / 23.453

09./15. [PSV] Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition <ADV> (Sony Computer Entertainment) {2015.03.19} (¥2.592) - 11.179 / 424.367

God Eater 2 isn't updated for this year though, I guess.

I didn't think he was suggesting that MH was automatically going to be massive on console, just that he was genuinely curious about whether that userbase would transfer over in any way; as such, I read the reply as saying that those two franchises do increase in sales when going over to console.

Splatoon keeps on trucking. It could very easily reach 1 million by March, I think.

Yeah, misread that, sorry about that. He's definitely right (in japan) for this if that's what he meant.

Worldwide sales from October:
F-Zero (SNES) 2,85
Metroid Prime (GC) 2,78
Splatoon (Wii U) 2,42

Splatoon is definitely going to surpass the highest selling Metroid and F-Zero games. It's also already ahead of any Pikmin, Fire Emblem or Kid Icarus.
