Game plays kinda like Armada and Subspace Continumm

Beta Test starting. A bunch of us tried the Alpha, game is alot of fun, strategic spaceship pew pew combat with interesting class play. Game feels alot like Subspace Continumm. I played extensively throughout the Alpha and think they've got something really good going on here. Anyone I gave an alpha key to, the game client you downloaded will work in the beta (will already have updated)

Also Crossplay between Steam and PS4!

Press Release:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dead Star Coming to Steam Early Access on Monday,

December 14th, 2015

12.09.15

“Fight for your life on the wild edge of the known universe in

Armature Studio’s brand new multiplayer space shooter”

Austin, Texas – Dec. 9 – Dead Star, a twin-stick multiplayer shooter from Armature Studio, releases onto Steam Early Access December 14th, 2015. Dead Star will retail at $14.99 during the early access period.

Dead Star is a PvP multiplayer space combat shooter with a fast-paced arcade feel. Choose between 12 different ships, each with a unique set of abilities, as you battle the opposing team in procedurally generated regions of space. Your combat skills and teamwork in 10 vs 10 player matches will determine whether you die in a blast of laser fire or gain infamy as the galaxy’s greatest pilot.

Earn rewards for your success in battle, ranging from cosmetic items such as ship paint styles and pilot portraits, to new technologies that can be used to permanently upgrade your ship’s abilities. To enhance the experience, a new mode known as Escape Run will be available later in Early Access. Escape Run will pit a team of five players against seemingly overwhelming odds as they escort a massive capital ship through a series of live multiplayer matches, creating 10 vs 10 vs 5 chaos.

Along with Steam Early Access, Dead Star is also available for pre-order on PlayStation 4 at $14.99. Dead Star is a cross-platform title, with the ability to match-make between PC and PlayStation 4 users. Both PlayStation 4 Pre-Order and Steam Early Access will gain immediate admission into the ongoing multiplayer Beta Test.

Cross-play is a really nice touch. Was lucky enough to receive a key from you, Bamelin, so thanks again for that! I really enjoyed the alpha, looking forward to the beta now.

The beta is actually already live although the official day is Monday. The guys from Armature Studio are running games nightly I've heard. It will be interesting to see if the playerbase increases with the beta here.

Thanks for posting this Bamelin! We're really trying to build up a steady community, some feedback that we've already received will go into the Monday build (PC/PS4), so we'd love to hear what y'all think!

I have keys for both PC and PS4. I'm actually giving some away today on the dev stream and through twitter. www.twitch.tv/deadstargame

Will full crossplay be available right away? Lotta games have said they're going to do it only to have a half-baked option (Rocket League) or none at all (Warframe).

Oh and for platform-phobes out there (not me), will crossplay be able to be turned off?

Fuck yeah, new mode!! I've always thought this game lent itself to some fun creative modes. Looking forward to jumping back in with y'all!

Edit: Holy cow, just watched the Capital Ship trailer, that looks insane! Way more involved than I was expecting!

Just watched the capital ship escape mode trailer ... Holy shit so its basically a swarm/Horde mode except the swarm is actual other players??! Cap ship (you and 4 friends manning cap ship guns) gets dropped into a live match (people playing a regular mode?) survive and move to next match?

Is that how it works? Looks really interesting.

Yeah, it looks like you party up and then jump into other ongoing matches. Pretty unique, definitely looking forward to giving it a shot later in the beta.

Edit: You should consider sticking "Subspace" and "Armada" into the thread title, it may draw more eyes.

I think it's too late. Can't make changes to a thread title once thread is up I don't think.

Immediately thought of Subspace when I watched the trailer. Definitely keeping my eyes on this one.

I can tell you it's very similar to Subspace and Comsic Rift (old SEN game back when Infantry was out). Obviously graphics are much better. It moves at a slightly different pace as well compared to those two games and feels more strategic due to ship class structure.

I never played Armada but I've heard from die hard Armada fans the game is similar to that as well.

Enjoyed the bits I played of the Alpha. Will definitely hop in during the beta testing period.

Thanks again for the key Bamelin.

If folks are looking for ways into the beta/early access, just PM me. I have plenty on the PS4 front and limited number on Steam.

Awesome! Was in the alpha, but could never play when the team matches were actually available. Really looking forward to playing with/against others.

You're already in the beta, in case you weren't aware. That goes for anyone who had an alpha code. If you wish to continue to playing at launch, you'll have to purchase the game but I would suggest doing it prior to launch haha.
