Leaked Tom Clancy's The Division Closed Alpha Gameplay (Xbox One)

It so weird. Polygon was yesterday the first game sites who showed it. And now every other gamesite took it over lol. Just because Polygon saw this thread. If they watched the alpha thread last week here they would have gotten way better footage and screens.

Best way to make your mind up you will find is to play the game rather than watch it. Videos are deceiving, play the beta for free guys then make your mind up.

This one is way more accurate from what it looked like in the Alpha.

Yeah, this looks gorgeous to me and as a native New Yorker, I can't wait to explore the game with my friends. Excited to learn what else there is in the game that we don't know about. Will there be strikes and raids ala Destiny? Are there non-Human enemy types? March is coming up quick and there's still a lot of questions about this game. Kinda doubt they'll hit that release date.

I thought Watch Dogs was out of this world when I seen the E3 first version (or whatever version it was). Then when I actually got the final game it was a big let down, the graphics scaled back so much that it almost felt last gen.

Watch dogs is more bland, innacurate and inconsistent than bad

It lacks the pizzaz that a lot of people want in games and it doesn't really gain it until night tiem when getting chased by cops

Almost looks like a PS2 game am I right?

Did you seriously think the Xbox version wouldn't be a downgrade compared to the PC version they showed?
This looked worse than Watch Dogs so yeah, I didn't think it would look as bad as it does. I'm just getting tired of seeing Ubitroll's unveiled games being some of my most wanted games and then going further down the list every single other time they show it.

EDIT: That gif above looks better though.

Happened once with watch dogs. And since then they have released Far cry 4, Unity, Rogue, The Crew, Syndicate, Anno and Siege

At what point are you guys going to move on?

that gif above is what the game actually looks like. If people actually read from people that played it, game looks really nice.

The Division looks way better than Watch Dogs on the Xbox...

It's almost like watching crappy leaked youtube videos of an Xbox game isn't the best way to judge how a games graphics are going to be on PC.

I enjoyed what I played of the alpha-(that was only a few hours mind you)-and will get on release-

people really gushing over that 2 second .gif? Theres better quality gameplay on youtube right now.

so what is it like then?

Its a RPG like any other RPG. Only difference is that if you want, you can play coop and there are some "homes bases" were you see other players walk arround. But if you want you can play the whole game by yourself like a RPG.

A 3rd person shooter with RPG elements and base building.Missions that can be played solo or in co-op.
If it has raids or strikes ala Destiny none of us have seen them nor has the dev mentioned them.
Oh and a PvPvE multiplayer mode that Destiny doesn't have either.

Played the Alpha. These videos are a horrible representation of the game. I'm buying the game plus season pass. 1st time I'll be buying a season pass. Shit was that good. Hype is that real. Haven't had this much fun with a game in a while.

The division is definitely a game you have to play rather than watch.

The alpha was fun and it looked pretty good.

Saw a few people comment that enemies take too much bullets....it's all to do with stats, there is no single bullet headshots in this game.

Bullshit, what of the reveal footage looked any more complex or survival than what we're getting now?
An actual grouping system with minor contracts/quests that could be full filled. It had CPU enemies that werent just mindless zombies or animals as well as the obvious PVP. Name a survival game that looked remotely similar to it did with the gameplay reveal at the Police Station.

I am sure they will. Marketing is just gonna start now after the Q4 titles now have released.
We saw already in a week one vid and a live action trailer. Just the start i think and the beta very soon.

Not always online
Main story has an end
RPG elements
Not like Destiny

This is ok for me.

Now I want to play it because game play is the most important thing. I can live with a downgrade if the game has solid frame rate and if it's not completely different looking.
I won't judge from gifs or YT videos, the first makes almost everything look good, the former makes almost everything look bad :/

Edit: I understand people being cautious with Ubi. I won't pre order anything from them and won't buy anything day 1 but I can at least wait for other impressions than Alpha / Beta (even more when it's videos and not my own gameplay impressions). I had hype for this game so maybe that's why I'm more ok to wait and see (for some games that I don't have hype at all for or don't think I'll enjoy it's easier to say a big no after reveal trailer of course).

Read through some comments here, I feel a lot of ppl saying it doesn't look good has not played the Alpha.

Does it look like the reveal? No

Was it downgraded to watchdog levels? Lol, no.

The game looks good, looks pretty good. There's a lot of detail in the world, plenty of props and effects happening around. I was pleasantly surprise when I loaded it up and started to walk around.

Stop panicking.

It is an always-online game.

Don't know whats got people thinking its not.

Am curious about the Destiny comparisons. Like Destiny this looks like a platform damn near purpose built for microtransactions/IAP down the line (online focused, RPG elements, loot, and that mysterious PvEvP mode if true).

i found some marksman rifle and did one shot some enemies in the head, but yea the bosses have much hp

Destiny is awesome!

Well the grind is sure something but the game play is superb.

It should strive to be 3rd person destiny in that department definetly.

Ubisoft doesn't have a history of releasing games in the same state as ACU, which was an outlier. Watch Dogs wasn't even a clusterfuck, it had great performance on the next gen consoles. And yes, crossgen is likely the main if not the sole reason why Watch Dogs had to be downgraded not just in asset quality but with the geometry of the world as well.

It was from Mike Fahey's stream on Kotaku.

Not the one from the stream, but:

I've never seen a single person wear a backpack like this, but doesn't it show up a lot more often in Ubisoft games? All the 40+ year olds wear beanies and backpacks like these. Ubisoft has their own fashion trend.

They also wear hoodies too. I didn't see a hoodie in there, but who knows.

lol, i wore one of these all the time when living in Germany

You do realize that just because we are playing the alpha, does not mean the game is in the alpha stage of development. You do realize there are different builds of games, right?

As someone who has worked in game's development for over 4 years, yes, I am fully aware that the build being played in a test like this is not the latest build available.

If you're implying the internal build is further along to the point of being considered a beta-candidate, and that this build, which is further behind but is theoretically more stable, should not be taken into some consideration of overall gameplay quality, when this game is within 3 months of release and should at the very least be content-locked at this point in time, then i'm sorry but i've been seen enough games at this point in development to make the personal assessment as to whether or not i'd like or enjoy spending my time with the full release.

It seems some people have said that online is required only for the dark zone? Maybe I've misunderstood or maybe the poster got it wrong.

But actually even if I don't like always online (DRM and possibility to qtill play the game in a few years is a concern in those cases) the most important thing for me is a solo mode with a main story.

If you have some answers that you can share I'd be happy to know more about the "modes" or the ways the game can be played :)

Thanks

Its a "persistent world" as they call it. So a connection is required.
Live and Plus isnt required. Only if you use matchmaking or go into the darkzone (pvp) offcourse.
