It shows the dificulty each level is ranked ... interesting xD

Also, needs more tags like tutorial, joke and parody

Needs a tag like "Traditional" or something to put on normal Mario levels.

Huh, one of the two levels I uploaded is missing from my profile. Need to get on the game to see if it's still really there or got deleted for some reason...

This could be a game changer if it really works. My one problem with Mario Maker is not finding the kind of levels I like.

...you can only put one tag at time ? What about my themed gimmick remix stage ? =/

Also, really need something showing the level uses checkpoints =/

My profile:

Finally. Now I can actually find and play friends' levels. This is a game-changer.

Awesome, been waiting for this. I've been tagging my traditional mario style levels as Remix since nothing else fits the bill, and some are remixed Nintendo-made levels anyhow!

It's odd that they just straight up changed the p-switch in all of the styles where it was yellow to blue. They must be planning a future update involving shaking the p-switch. Maybe to create on/off switches.

More likely oit was likely changed just to match the blue P-Switch Doors

You can't set world record times (or even record a time at all) on your own levels. -_-

The bookmark site doesn't include level codes. -_-

Looking at your level, it does not look super easy to me. Looks pretty damn hard for an average player.

Yeah. I think any single block landings and required Yoshi jumps is going to bump up the difficulty rank.
I know that those things would make a level difficult for me when I first enjoyed Mario world, and it would make it difficult for my younger brother, even though it really doesn't seem difficult at all.

Haha the fire clown car gets even stronger when using a fire flower. Neat.

Awesome. Just put some wings on that Fire flower and boom SHMUP powerup.

I'm already working on making a Gradius style Mario Maker level. Cannons make good moai statues and you can use spikes to simulate the tight corridors of some Gradius levels.

Aren't the level codes in the URL?

Ohhhh, it is, nice catch.

To be fair I think that's a good idea.

I'm sure there are some good arguments against it, like preventing level creators from like creating cheap secret routes that only they know to get impossible times or something, but on the other hand if level creators can set their own times, there could be kind of a back-and-forth element between them and other players for the best time? I dunno, I guess to me it seems like any problems would be outweighed by the benefits of allowing it?

They didn't have to make the doors blue in the styles with yellow switches. The only style in which the doors were blue in the original game was SMW. In SMW p-switches could be blue or grey. The grey ones had the added effect of changing enemies into coins.

Also, the switch used for NSMBU style before the update was the ? switch instead of the p-switch:

Both p-switches and ? switches coexist in NSMB games.

http://www.mariowiki.com/?_Switch

? Switches appear most recently in New Super Mario Bros., this time with an orange color. When hit, these switches change or add an area of a level, anything from adding moving platforms to flipping the entire level upside down. The effects of these switches can be temporary or permanent, varying from switch to switch. They also appear in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, New Super Mario Bros. 2 and New Super Mario Bros. U with the same effects as in New Super Mario Bros.

Methinks the ? switch will come back in a future update and they could do pretty much anything with it.

Does anyone know which other Wii U or 3DS games have companion websites besides Splatoon?

edit : thanks for the links, El Sabroso.

These tags are really silly. What is 'thumbnail' supposed to infer?

Maybe I'm thinking about these too much.

Probably for courses with a nice pixel art thumbnail picture? But I haven't seen many where that would be the main point of the course, so it's still weird.

It's interesting to see the difficulty of each course.

It's sad that the World Record and First Play informations are not available for the old courses.

Of course they didn't have to. It just makes sense to have the new feature stylistically match the other themes and the other key component, particularly when it has "P" in the title.

What does the "P" have to do with the color? The p-switch in SMB1 style was yellow and had a "P" on it. The doors in that style are green. They could have just stuck a "P" on the doors or even had them turn yellow to match the color of the switch. With NSMBU just stick a ? on the doors and call it a day or even change the color of the regular doors, since regular doors in the actual NSMBU are green.

It was always strange that they used the ? switch for the NSMBU style instead of the p-switch in the first place.

I guess Single Screen Levels. So the thumbnail already shows the whole level.
That may be Nintendos Intention, but nobody uses that term, so it will be used wrongly by the community.

I like the Twitter integration.

Also, if you want to keep your own level tags, be sure to tick the box in Settings. For some reason, anyone can change them by default.

That's totally on Nintendo though since they don't explain their system anywhere.

There's a 100 bookmark limit, by the way. Once you go over, your oldest courses start getting removed. You can lock a course so it won't get deleted, if you really want.
