Why's "cuck" such a popular word now?

This was brought up a couple of time in a recent Star Wars boycott thread.

I see it basically everywhere these days, on Youtube and Twitter and whatnot. It's used by itself, or words are blended with it.

I know it's short for "cuckold", but what's up with the obsession with using it? It's so weird. Imagining people using it over and over in real life seems kind of hilarious because I can't imagining someone saying it while not looking really angry - someone red in the face just shouting "CUCKS BLOODY CUCKS CRAZY CUCKS SIMULCUCKING THE CUCKS!"

The fact that the word just suddenly appeared everywhere last year was and is still so weird. Like, who decided "ok internet, we're all gonna say cuck now"? I can't be the only one that's noticed this right? I'm not crazy, I swear!

because /v/ found out what cuckolding is and cuck quickly replaced other insults

also in the term of star wars, bb8 is a "little white cuck ball" because it apparently represents white males or some shit while a black male had the lead? i don't remember

Gamergate.

The MRA/misogynist creep crowd latched onto it as the ultimate insult they could imagine.

I'm seeing it virtually everywhere as well, so much porn using cuckold or 'cuck' themes, and also being used as a pejorative against anyone else. Pretty much it's used the same way beta, white knight are used.

It's really only popular on 4chan as far as I can tell, pretty much seems to be associated with the anti-SJW movement and #GG for whatever reason...there's also a racial element to it claiming that "social justice obsessed men" are losing their women to the blacks or whatever.

But, yeah, I'd steer clear of using that word unless you want to have people assume you're a misogynistic racist. Or a huge fan of Much Ado About Nothing.

Never heard someone use "cuck" in my life.

It's all over the Internet these days if you ever look at some of the more hateful sections. You'd have to know some pretty terrible people to actually hear it used in real life.

i've never heard anyone say it in real life, which i'm glad for

'little white cuck ball' is one of the funniest things i've read in recent memory though lmao

It makes people salty, yet it is not politically incorrect, it is short and easy to write. The perfect insult.
But I'm struggling to understand how it's an insult. Isn't saying someone's a cuck basically saying "you're sexually and romantically superior to me"? I'd assume that's what a real non-fantasy cuckold would be anyway. Someone capable of stealing your partner away.

Uh, no.

A cuckold is the husband of an adulterous wife. In other words, they're a man who is unable to "control their woman" and thus it's seen as an affront to their perceived masculinity.

It's saying you cant even please your own wife/girl, so you have to get some one else to dobit.

Oh! I thought the partner/huband was being cuckolded while the cuckold was the one doing the stealing. I dunno, this isn't really my fetish or anything.

Its a very good word. Lets you know that the person saying it is both racist and sexist in four letters. Means you dont have to listen to the rest of the dribbling shit leaking from their mouth.

No, it's saying that you're such a beta male that you let other guys fuck your gf/wife. The bull (I'm 80 percent sure that's the term) does the fucking while the cuck is forced to watch.

I think when people whine about "SJW"s on /v/, they like to use the word cuck a lot because they love cuckold porn more than anything and they need to find a way to express that to everybody they know. I really don't see why someone would try to inject a reference to something gross like that into every topic it has no relation to unless they felt some sort of sexual giddiness every time it ran off their tongue and danced through their lips.

The counterpart to the cuckold is the bull? This probably references some old tale I bet.

Here's me thinking "cuckolding" was merely the action done by the cuckold to the cuckolded. I am behind in the terminology.

Well, I've seen it on NeoGAF too though here "NTR" seems to be more popular...

There was a user here the other day who felt necessary to name-drop that anime term in a thread about a woman being forced to call her boyfriend while being raped. Can't believe someone thought it was appropriate to post that in a serious topic about a serious issue, and then some dude like clockwork with an anime avatar came in to helpfully explain to everyone what it meant.

I have trouble taking anyone who says this or uses alpha/beta (in earnest) seriously. Usually those people overlap and have taken to just using this cuck bullshit now.

4chan.

There was a point where you couldn't even talk about an album on /mu/ without being called a cuck for liking it, especially in regards to "To Pimp a Butterfly."

I'd never even heard of this being a thing until now. But pretty much all of the internet comments i read are on Gaf.

Pretty stupid of people to make fun of people over a sexual preference.
Especially since a lot of times that's all it is. It's not even about being beta or any of that shit half the time.

From the definition in this thread I don't see how cuckold has sexist or racist implications.

yeah, even though the context of that statement was 'i thought that shit was only an anime term, i can't believe someone would actually do it in real life'

so inappropriate

'cuckold' doesn't, but 'cuck' as an insult mainly means that the people using it think a certain way. It's like the term/insult beta which has largely died down in general internet insult usage but is still popular amongst a certain crowd

I soley associate it with gamer gate losers harrassing a friend of mine on Twitter. I didn't know these dorks were saying it elsewhere.

Throwing infidelity around as an insult is a clear mark of someone whose pretty lonely imo. Though, so is caring that much about videogames so... It all makes sense I guess.
