Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen PC |OT| Wolves hunt in 4K

Your pawns will stay with you always unless you dismiss them in the Rift.

There's a passive skill you can learn later on that gives you increased stats if you choose to go at it alone.

nah fuck that, this system is too interesting, alot more than I thought. Good to know thanks. Game seems great so far, gonna roll with 1 fighter, 2 mages and me the strider for now

I picked the assassin type character because I thought I wanted to be a magic archer, but after climbing up a Hydra's neck to chop it's head off, I'm thinking I might wanna just crawl on dudes forever.

What vocation should I aim for to be a "mount beasts and slay them" type?

I reached out on that issue and it would take a sizable amount of work to get working on DX9 games it currently doesn't. With PC gaming already moving on to DX12, doesn't seem worth the effort. Especially when there are already options for texture mods on MY Framework games, tho less elegant.

Update GeDoSaTo. There was a bug that made key presses not get read, but Durante fixed it.

Striders are the best class for focusing on climbing and things.

Ok, never mind fixed it. Apparently Steam created some weird 0kb DDDA file within my steamapps common folder and there was no DDDA folder like there should by. I deleted that and it works now.

Any random suggestions for what vocation I should roll first? When I played it on console I went full Ranger/Strider, but I want to try something different now.

When I choose to search for a pawn made by friends I only get 4 results? That can't be right can it

Edit: Whoever made a red head called Melisandre, good job

Can you guess what kind of character I will be playing? :p

I always go Fighter until 10 for the HP boost then you can go whatever you want from there. In my 100% run I leveled Mage/Sorcerer for around 60 or so levels then changed to Magick Archer.

Replace Magick Archer with Mystic Knight if you want.

I updated GeDoSaTo and DDDA is in my whitelist, but I can't seem to get the overlay to pop up still.

Might just do that, thanks.

Yo guys how demanding is this thing? If my (pretty old) machine can run, let's say, Dark Souls 2 perfectly fine, will it be good with Dogma?

I have an intel core 2 quad q9300 @ 2.5 (says win7, while xp recognized the overclocked 3.0 *shrug*) with 4GB and a hd6850. = 7? year old machine with graphiccard-upgrade.
I run on lowest shadowsettings, distance_view low and DOF off (not tried higher yet)
and the "only" trouble I'm having, weirdly enough, is the character not showing up during the character creation and in the status menu (everywhere else and the equipmentmenu seems fine).
Otherwise it runs totaly fine at least up to now (killing goblins with firearrows).
Edit: except for a graphicerror in the water where the priorities in the z-layer seem a bit screwed up. (hm, maybe the reason for my other problem?)

I'm getting this weird effect as if colors were in 16 bits or something, banding shades heavily, which I'm not seeing in anyone else's screenshots:
GMbGDnD.jpg

I've tried with HDR on and off but no dice. Not using any outside filters or tools. Anyone knows why this might be happening? I have a GeForce 960 if that helps.

PSA: If you want to use the screenshot mode sans watermark, then update and use GeDoSaTo.

Go into Share menu option, line up your shot, then use the "Hudless Screenshot" key in GeDoSaTo.

That's a safe team for sure, you might be interested (especially for indoor battles)
If you are out on the field you could trade one of the mages for a strider :)

Ok my pawn has been updated back to the aggro drawing warrior she always was, now without the overpowered BBI gear as well.
Go nuts ;D

I tried to add friends pawn and there wasn't a single one :( so I just sent out another 30 or so invites to people actively playing in the steam group. Need pawns!

I updated GeDoSaTo and DDDA is in my whitelist, but I can't seem to get the overlay to pop up still.

Here's the entry as is in my User Whitelist file.

Code:
DDDA || Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen

Other than that, I would try checking resolutions to see if GeDo is even hooked in at all. Hope it can help bud.

Anyone know where saves are stored? Going to get an SSD soon and i want to back my save up instead of just relying on Steam Cloud

Fighter's are fun, they even have the Dante stinger move.
Later play as the assassin for sure. If you want a complete different experience than play as a mage, but I always recommend playing all vocations, unlocking all their augments skills (since you can share those) and choose the best vocation for BBI.

Well, there are certainly no gear drops as such, outside of BBIs cursed items which you still need to purify before you can use them. You'll find new shit in chests etc, but for a good portion of the game, shops will offer effective upgrades and you should partake in 'em.

In the future, it helps to check PCGamingWiki. I updated the save location there as well.

Update my arctool to support Dragon's Dogma PC:
http://www.tzarsectus.com/tools/ARCtool.rar
http://www.tzarsectus.com/tools/ARCtool-PC-batch.rar

You can unpack and repack all the ARC files. It also lets you convert various file formats (by adding extra command line arguments. just edit the batch files, or add it when running the batch file in command prompt:
- TEX (-tex) Textures
- XFS (-xfs) Gameplay variables and scripts.
- LOT (-lot) Enemy definitions.

This is definitely for advanced users, so people who haven't done any modding before might get lost quickly.

I'll write more extensive documentation later along with some general information about where stuff is among the game files.

you could do that on 360 too.

Oops you're right, Nevermind. I remember on PS3 it was greyed out for me at some point. Thought maybe you had to beat the game once or something (since it wasn't greyed out later for me on another playthrough) but turns out that was never the case. You could always start it granted you had DLC or Dark Arisen.

Well, this is thrilling. Exactly how long does it take to unpack?

I've had one progress bar complete - time remaining was blank throughout.

It's now doing more disk stuff. Again, no time remaining information.

All I know is that it initiated at 19:34.

Steam, please make your processes more efficient.

EDIT: Finished. I knew posting a moan would give it a virtual kick. 49 mins in total.

Best gear (stat wise) will be dropped from enemies,
but I honestly think that you wont care about how awesome the stats are for some of the gear, if you are like me and care more about looks, than I would buy as much as gear as possible, to get the best look for your pawn and yourself.Money does not come easy tho, but medicinal items can be farmed from trees and locations.

Honestly don't worry to much, trust me you will be running this game post game (and new game plus) and you will always have a chance to get anything you miss.

Just explore and play the game to your liking.

Excellent point, something I forgot to mention , I saved most of my money until I got a weapon , that I really, really , like to upgrade it to the max.

Took like 5 minutes for me on a SSD.

Thanks, I'll give it a go later. It was working for Valkyria Chronicles a week ago.

Some questions:
1. Subtitles in cutscenes is supposed to be huge and lowrez? Or is it bug from downsampling?
2. Why i only can downsample to 2880x1620 and 4k and nothing else? Through DSR.
3. If i downsample is it better to disable fxaa or leave it on? Or maybe inject SMAA?

Anyone else getting micro stutters when panning the camera?

Found some ppl on steam discussion forums with the same problem, but no solutions so far.

And is there a way to acess a config.ini or something? Wanted to put my FPS to 144 instead of "Variable".

You need to use a program for unpacking PIRS (xbox specific container file format) files. I use a program called wxpirs for doing it. If you unpack DD_SAVEDATA_01 you'll get the actual savegame (which would be called DD_SAVEDATA). And that's what you'll use with my save tool.

I got the save to load, but it's stuck on the accessing server screen on initial load if I try to start the game in online mode. I ditched the two pawns I had with me from the 360 save, slept in game to sync with the server and re-saved, but I get stuck on the same accessing server screen every time I start the game. So something's not playing nice. Maybe it's my pawn causing an issue somehow if it's trying to find it on their server.

Any reason why my Dragon's Dogma won't finish? Like I had it pre-loaded but now it claims it needs to update but gives me a disk write error. :(

Should I just redownload?

I have that too, it's ugly. Tips to fix it would be nice.

Everybody's game is like that (color banding), it's just how the game engine is. Seems like maybe you have your brightness higher which would make it stand out more.

My friend isn't able to play for some reason. When it boots steam just says "Preparing to launch" and it just loops that over and over again. On my friends list it shows them as booting the game, closing, and then booting it again endlessly
Just had to restart steam

Why are unpausable cut scenes a thing in this game? Tried to pause part of the intro and skipped it instead.
Massive fail capcom.

Now I have to watch the intro on YouTube thanks to some idiot thinking it's still acceptable for the Start button skipping major scenes with no prompt or warning.
Yup, exact same thing happened to me lol
"Ah, let's pause the cutscene and get ready before we finally get into the g--" whoops

About the sky banding, Boris mentioned it the other day, I think he said it was hard to fix without heavy performance impact. Wait and see

Nice, will give this a squiz after I get into the game a bit.
