So we know of what 8 schools now? 3 missing right?

Hogwarts
Castlebruxo
Mahoutokoro
Uagadou
Ilvermorny
Durmstrang
Beauxbatons
Koldovstoretz

There must be one in China, near Shaolin Temple perhaps and one near India, in the Himalayas perhaps. The other one might be Russian or a relatively new one in New Zealand, I guess.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
1) I'm miffed neither China nor India have magic schools of their own despite having two of the oldest mythologies in the world. No way all the wizards/muggleborns of these two countries combined will fit into the Mahouwhatever,

2) Head canon time. It's reasonable to assume that every wizarding country has some knowledge of other existing wizarding countries because physical distance is trivial to them. Thus, the American school would have no reason to be segregated like muggle schools at the time. The prejudice of wizarding society will always look twards the muggle/non-muggle divide, not along racial lines. Taking this to the logical extreme, we could maybe infer that Ilvermony played a part in the civil rights movement of Potterverse.

You really think that the wizards and witches lived in racial harmony in the US? There was like one black student in Hogwarts (not really lol). The white wizards nowadays are probably complaining that the wizarding school isn't as great as it used to be and now want Trumpledore to be the new headmaster

But is there a Catholic Magic School?

"You can tricks and magic children, but none of this disproves Jesus. He did miracles"

Like I said, it wouldn't make sense. Magic is the equalizer among sentient races in Potterverse. Your worth in the wizarding world goes up and down depending on how much magic you have.

Wizard Trump would be talking about banning muggleborns from Ilvermony, not minorities. He would be the Voldemort/Grindelwald of the US.

Actually, the American school has had to be closed numerous times. Turns out that in the secret Wizarding Constitution (a few Founding Fathers were Wizards) we have the right to bear deadly curses, it all stems back to when the British tried to banish us from ever using any deadly curses against them in an attempt to squash our rebellion. As a result, even the killing curse Avada Kedavra isn't outlawed or prevented from being uttered in our magical school. Unfortunately, this has resulted in a number of school massacres but we've got to protect our right to magical self-defense. Only way to stop a wizard shouting Avada Kedavra is another wizard shouting it back.

I'm going to assume there wasn't any racial segregation given how steep of a divide there is between Muggles and the world of Magic. Most Wizards probably didn't even know of the full extent of racial segregation until the lead up into the Civil War. There stance on slavery as whole would have been interesting though.

Does it mention anywhere when the American school was founded? Was it Pre-United Stated or post?

Yeah I always wonder what civil rights movements etc. look like in Potterverse. Like do the Malfoys also hate black people? Any homophobic witches or wizards? How much of a secret was Dumbledore's sexuality?

Honestly if the wizards lived in their own little magical world/communities as the british did, then I guess. The 'mudbloods' would come to school having grown in the real world and would be confused as to why the different races lived in harmony. I doubt someone would ever ask JK this in a Q&A if the American school ever dealt with the topic of race from the non-magical lineage students introducing the topic at school?

Oh right, Ilvermony would also be heavily multicultural because it probably serviced all the North/South American colonies.

And committed genocide against the Mesoamerican wizards but they don't talk about that, clearly.

Shit, I bet Uagadou is the only reason we never ended up as house niggers to every wizarding family in Europe. Elves are probably free there too, European wizards are fucked up.

In an ideal world where "Uagadou" isn't an afterthought, I'd like to imagine that it's not one single location, but many interconnected enclaves secreted away here and there all throughout the continent (that's many times bigger than Europe, Rowling), like a distributed network. Hence, the vague location of "mountains of the moon".

Who am I kidding we'll never hear about ti again.

I like to imagine that just because she has only mentioned 3 schools in the novels and 3/4 now that it doesn't mean others don't exist, just that she isn't about to come up with every freaking school.

Because a brazilian school being the only one in SA is stupid. With every other country around you speaking spanish what does that mean for them?

It's says that Africa has dozens of wizarding schools, Uagadou is just the largest. It's the largest wizarding school on the planet apparently.

Oh, I didn't actually read the thing.

The wand is a European invention, and while African witches and wizards have adopted it as a useful tool in the last century, many spells are cast simply by pointing the finger or through hand gestures.
Sheeeeit. These guys are boss.

Woman needs to stop dropping tidbits like this and just write another damn book.

She's making a play about the after years of harry and the gang.

I hope there's a song about Harry facing depression

"I might be the boy who liiiiiiiiiiiiiived

But sometimes I want to dieeeeeeeeeeeee"

edit: wait the african schools use hand gestures? hahahahaha holy shit they're doing naruto ninja moves

International wizard politics would be fascinating as fuck to learn about. Their stances on The World Wars, Slavery, and things like that would be a great read.

Give me a Star Wars Encyclopedia type book about the Wizarding World and I will buy 10 of them.
