What about Nintendo On? (Like that VR helmet mockup pre-Wii)

Console: Nintendo ON Entertainment Station, pronounced (NOES)
Handheld: Nintendo ON Handheld Unit (NOHU)

Marketing: Game ON the couch, ON the toilet (it streams like Wii U), ON your bed, fucking go outside and keep ON playing ON the fucking handheld, come back home and your game is still ON the fucking console.

This is ON the players. Greatness can keep ON waiting.

Jump ON.

What about the Nintendo REACT? Upload a video of Nintendo REACT footage, Youtube implodes with content claiming and some fine fines.

7c doesn't really work.

Add the Game Boy Advance SP (considered a new model because of the form factor AND front lighting), as well as the New 3DS (as it added the new circle pad, 2 shoulder buttons, faster CPU, and stabilized 3D).

I don't believe the DSi really added anything new to the DS other than form factor and some wifi changes.

Going from the OG DS to the DSi is probably a bigger change than GBA -> GBA SP, if not for the fact that there's two revisions instead of one.

The DSi has exclusive games, the GBA SP doesn't AFAIK.

What's happening now?

What is everyone expecting?

Right now I'm hosting a meeting for my book club.

Everyone is expecting healthy discourse and finger food.

I think there's a Nintendo financial thing happening tomorrow though. Financial results tonight I think?

Hardware, no, but the DSi launched the DSi Shop, which was a pretty big first step towards the eventual 3DS eShop and a rather large software difference between the OG DS/DS Lite and DSi.

I'm guessing NX naming information will release a month before its official unveiling if that's happening at E3.

Yeah, but that goes against the grain to just about every CPU decision that Nintendo has made thus far. They are a very RISC-heavy shop, and they have been like that for years now (likely dating as far back as the NES)... there would be quite a bit of tools that they would have to refactor moving into x86 (and don't mention Mac OS 10, turns out that a switch of that magnitude was planed for well in advance). And it would also ignore ARM (which they have experience with) being the "hotness" at the moment with many fabs (AMD/GlobalFoundries being just one of many) to shop around with.
There is as much business around this as it is technical, and again... Nintendo has a history about it's bottom line.

Saying Nintendo likes RISC is kindof silly. Everyone does, because it's simply more efficient. x86 is pretty much the only CISC architecture to survive and even that uses a RISC core internally.

I'm not really sure how much more work it is to go from PPC to x86 than PPC to ARM assembler (in C it's not an issue for either) . And I'm also not quite sure which low level tools they're going to move over directly from Wii U. But it shouldn't be a bigger issue for them than it was for Sony.

I'm certainly not saying they should, or will go for x86, but boiling it down to a preference for RISC seems silly

I could be wrong though and could be hours, days or years off.

Investor suit?! Are you dressing up like Kimi-san in celebration?

The earnings release is coming in just over 4+ hours. Then another 19 hours after that till the meeting. :)
