Michonne kissing Carl's forehead before throwing herself into the fray was a really touching.
Yep its nice to see how much they really have bonded since the back half of season 4. I could actually see Rick and Michonne happening. The thing she could really want is a family again. And with Rick she gets that.

Not only does she probably see him as a son at this point but Michonne has an immeasurable amount of respect for Carl.

Remember, that Carl was the first one in Rick's group to really give her a chance, he convinced Rick that she's one of them and the others followed suit. He not only made that call but made the call to save her life when they first met, as she stood there injured outside the prison fences.

It's telling that she's told Carl stuff about her life that even Andrea didn't know.

a slow episode doesn't necessarily equate to a filler episode. although they definitely can be and in many cases are, but I don't think they're mutually exclusive.

For many people that bitch about it, it seems to be. Unless the entire cast is killing zombies every two minutes, the show "sucks" for them. "Too slow" and all that. They're expecting the comic level of "oh here's this new character, AND THEY'RE GONE.gif" level of speed, which doesn't work as a TV show. People have to "bond" with characters and have arcs that take up the times between enemy attacks.

Best episode of the series so far. Just fucking amazeballs all over the place.

Also, Glenn lists all the people who made him who he is and doesn't mention Beth lol. Not just a Maggie problem I guess.

Beth didn't impact Glenn outside of being Maggie's family. Hershel gave him his blessing in marrying Maggie and giving him his watch that was in Hershel's family. What did Beth do/give to Glenn?

Though it's the first time he's mentioned his family as dead. IIRC they never really touched on that.

RPGs are OP

Hell, I'm surprised Abraham and Sasha weren't blown up by the splash damage (and the motorcycles not completely engulfing them in flames) and Daryl not having any backblast effects.

Great episode. The rocket launcher scene at the beginning was hilarious.

I was shocked they actually went with Sam's death scene. So brutal. Unlike everyone else here cheering their deaths I was really sad for Sam. He was traumatized by Carol and sheltered by his mom. What happened wasn't really his fault.

Was this the first time they've shown a child character being killed on-screen? I remember Lizzie was killed off-screen, and Sophia's death (before reanimation) was never shown either. Yet in this episode not only does one kid get eaten alive on camera, another gets gored by a sword seconds later. Yikes.

If they end up censoring Negan's speech even after all of the above, I'm going to laugh. Showing a kid getting eaten alive is OK... but swear words are not apparently??

How many lives does Glenn have?
7 times if I'm counting correctly where we thought his character could possibly die lol.
Season 1 - captured by vatos guys
Season 2 - well walker
Season 3 - Merle setting the walker on him while in the room
Season 4 - Maggie thinks Glen died in the bus with everyone else but he got off before it left
Season 5 - end of the season survives Nicholas attack with walkers on him
Season 6 - we have had 2. Dumpster dive and now last minute Abe/Sasha save from a mob of zombies.

Edit: 8 because he almost died at terminus with getting his throat cut.

I want character building, but the sentimentality on this show is so often forced.

Don't forget dustyherb also in season 5: Right as Glen is about to get hit in the head and have his neck sliced open by those terminates, Carol's explosion distracts them.

With the thought that Sasha/Abraham wouldn't show up Glenn's plan seemed really stupid. He was going to get himself killed to save Maggie when he could have easily fired off some shots and made a distraction without getting himself cornered.

This is true. I wonder how Nicotero would explain that motivation.

Forgetting he was next to get his throat slit by Terminus folks before Carol did her thing.

*Glenn'd

Do you think this will lead to a hardened Carl? Has he officially lost his childhood here and turned him into the badass Carl from the comics?

Maybe, yeah. The transition from a boy into a man was more in season four when Rick mentioned that Carl was a man at that point. His childhood ended there but hopefully the cool Carl will emerge from losing his eye and be really exciting. It makes him a lot harder and ruthless. My character is always so much more fun to play when that happens.

In other words: move along Daryl, Rick, [enter character here] - Comic Carl incoming.

So what you're saying is that Glenn has used up 8 lives then, eh? Hmmm...

I thought the episode was solid, but I think it would have worked better if they had aired it last year instead, seeing as how it was the conclusion to that arc and also especially because there's a (vague spoiler for next week)
bit of a timeskip at the start of next week's episode that would have perfectly accommodated the 2 month break in between half seasons.

Anyway, I liked that they got rid of the whole Anderson family (none of those characters ever really worked for me), but I am disappointed that they chose not to give Jessie a more substantial relationship with Rick before they killed her off. It would have made her death way more impactful and would have also given Ron a better reason to hate/point the gun at Rick.

Freakin' Time Warner man! Only when a new Walking Dead comes on does AMC go black. It's not the first time this happened! SO ANNOYING! Is there anywhere I can watch it online?

So sick of this crap. I can't wait to call em up and drop my crappy service.

man i think im sloowly get tried of this show.. and its sadly because of amc's over producing, im only at the opening scene but jesus christ this "we the badest of the bad guys" is getting really fucking old... plus damn AMC they show the opening scene in the commerical before the opening scene... i miss season 1-2 style.. shit wasnt overly done, and the story didnt have time yet to have shit repeat a few times... also do they have to make the bad guys soo fucking annoying...

Also why didnt they just floor it and run those mofos over on the bikes.. wouldnt have gotten them all but they could have shot the ones the did miss... really hope this second half is better... id go with...

s1>2(still had annoying characters though)4>>5>>>3>>6 first half...

That was my first thought too, though looking back on it, if they had just tried to ram their way through, they would have inevitably missed one or two (or more... they were on motorcycles, could've driven out of the way in time). Just one survivor alone would be enough to follow them back to Alexandria and reveal their location to Negan. They couldn't have risked that.

Can't see anything wrong with trying to run over heavily armed people in your truck filled with flammable gasoline. They even try to run and they would be shot dead, especially all they had on them in the front seat was their pistols compared to the guys holding shotguns, and assault weapons.
