NECA Toys director outright says Crash Bandicoot is coming back

Crazy thought but what kind of Crash merch would you guys want?

I'd love to get me some collectible statues and plushies.

Twinsanity perfected the game, cut content notwithstanding. Open world for the most part but with linear levels so that the platforming is still tight. Funny dialog that breaks the fourth wall and doesn't take itself seriously. Start with double jump already so that the game isn't padded out with boring or overpowered upgrades (super slam and run being boring, death tornado spin and wumpa cannon being overpowered and also boring). Lots of variety in play styles, but ultimately always platforming. Catchy, iconic music on every level.

Do that again.

I want a big (2–3') plushie of Crash in either the Twinsanity or classic look.

After seeing how terrible the TF2 Neca figures were im not interested in their toys anymore.

But i do hope this means Crash is coming back or at the very least an HD collection.

TECHNICALLY, the only Crash game made by Activision or Activision teams was Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 2 for the iOS App Store, and it was well received.

A lot of the shitty horrible games like Crash Bandicoot: Mutant island, Mind over mutant, were licensed by Activision. So yea, fuck them. And anyone involved especially Vivendi universal.

But also fuck Sony for letting the property go the way it did. They had the money back then after PS1, they could have acquired it.

I wouldn't mind a collaboration deal with Activision co-publishing with SOny and have someone from Sony's side develop the game.

Other than the kart racer I mentioned, none of those games were developed under Activision's request. They were developed during and before the merger and Activision simply got them in the merger.

Also, I disagree that those games were "Shitty" and "horrible" but I wrote a long post about that the other day you're welcome to go read.

I wonder who will make the announcement of Crash's return (assuming it actually happens which I think it will) on stage at E3?

I'm guessing Boyes if it's a third party collaboration with Activision to make an exclusive Crash game, and Shuhei if it's through first party with Sony reacquiring the rights.

Nah, it has to be Shawn. Only this time he is in a full Crash suit.

With all these rumors, E3 never felt so far :(
I wish they take their returning characters only from the classic games, screw Crunch Bandicoot and this thing

I hope you do know that Sony never had any say in the matter. The true owner of Crash and Spyro was always Universal Interactive Studios. Sony just has a co-publishing deal with them. Their contract with Sony, as well as Naughty Dog and Insomniac ended and they did not renew with anyone. Mark Cerny, a Universal Games producer at the time, decided to leave. Sony acquired ND and tried to do the same with Insomniac, but they valued their new independence too much. Cerny formed Cerny Games and decided to follow ND and work exclusively with Sony contractually (a relationship that still continues to this day). If Sony somehow acquired the Crash rights from Activision, this would be the first time they've actually owned the rights.

Note: Universal Games Studios eventually became Vivendi Games following Universal's acquisition by French conglomerate Vivendi. Vivendi Games (previous owners of Blizzard and Sierra) ceased to exist when they merged with Activision to become ActivisionBlizzard. This is why Crash and Spryo are Activision properties currently.

The whole "Sony never actually owned crash/spyro" blurb has got to be common knowledge by now, at least around these parts. Even so, I don't think he even implied that he thought Sony owned them. He pretty clearly states that they should have acquired it, and not let it go down the path it did.

I didn't think so either, but that commercial where Crash went to troll the Nintendo HQ had me perplexed. Why would Crash have done that if he weren't a Sony IP

Just because the IP isn't from Nintendo's bigger competitors doesn't make that not make sense, he was an exclusive title to the console, and Universal Interactive was competing with Nintendo's Mario titles regardless by bringing that game out.

If it happens they should do it exactly same as the Kojima announcement. A video of Andrew House and some guy in a Crash suit on a coach talking about how excited they are about their new partnership. Maybe talking Japanese, I'm not sure.

Twinsanity is broken in the best ways...

This would be amazing on so many levels. Amazing self-parody, amazing reference, and hilarious.

If crash gets announced at E3, I will declaire E3 2016 better than last years.

Same. Wouldn't even need to see the other games at the show.

Even IF what he said was pure asinine bullshit, we still have sources that something is happening behind closed doors to back this up. Biggest factors being BruceLeeRoy's teases (and flawless track record of insider information) and SCEA President Shawn Layden strutting around PSX '15 with the Crash shirt. Shawn wouldn't wear that for shits and giggles. After all, it wouldn't be the first time Shawn wore a shirt related to an upcoming game (GOW4).

They know what the fans want and I'm expecting SOMETHING at this year's E3 with all these teases and such.

I really hope we're not being led astray.

Preaching to the choir on that one. It'll be a real dick move if this became anticlimactic.

However, I'll take BruceLeeRoy's word and Shawn's shirt into consideration and say that something's in development for sure. If the likes of Shenmue 3 and FF7 Remake can become realities, Crash has a shot as well.
