Latest drivers: (as at 21/12/2017)
Nvidia: 388.71
AMD: 17.12.2
Intel: Depends on your processor; download the driver update utility

Tips and tricks:
Various CPU/GPU benchmarks and data: See this GameGPU article.
Note: The article is in Russian, but the data is presented via graphs.
Cap the framerate/potentially improve frametimes: Download RivaTuner Statistics Server, input your desired framerate limit in the "Framerate limit" box, and hit enter (the program comes bundled with MSI Afterburner and earlier versions of EVGA PrecisionX). Alternatively, those with an Nvidia GPU have the option of Nvidia Inspector, which can also be used to impose a framerate cap, either in a similar manner to RTSS or by way of forcing a different vsync interval (click the small tool icon to open the game profile section).
Note: Useful if you your system can't maintain, say, 60fps and you're sensitive to the wild fluctuations, or you're experiencing uneven frametimes. The greater window the engine has to render a given frame, if you're imposing a lower framerate than the game can otherwise provide, may also help in alleviating stuttering related to data streaming.
Stop the game from crashing after 15 minutes on touch-capable systems running Windows 10: Open the task manager, switch to the Services tab and disable TabletInputService.
Fix crushed blacks/colour reproduction issues during gameplay (for those with an Nvidia GPU): Open the Nvidia control panel and ensure your HDMI dynamic range level is set to "Full" rather than "Limited". (Credit to jackft.)

No HBAO+ eh? Wonder if it can be injected.

I think the game is an AMD pack-in and HBAO+ is a nvidia developed feature sooooooooooo yeah

From the videos i saw for the PS4 version, that version appears to run at an uncapped framerate that appears to be running mostly above 30 fps. I can't imagine that this will be an incredibly demanding PC game

Forcing it via the Nvidia CP generally works fine.

HBAO+ isn't Nvidia-exclusive. Naturally, though, it does favour Nvidia GPUs, but it generally has a rather light performance hit, unlike, say, Hairworks or hardware-accelerated PhysX.

So was tomb raider.
But yeah, there's no reason a game in 2016 still uses ssao and not a form of HBAO.

Game seems demanding as hell. As soon as you get to a crowded area, performance tanks. Turning off AA has next to no effect either. Wasn't expecting to have to turn down settings on this one, especially at just 1080p!

What seems pegged? CPU or GPU or both?

turned the Supersampling setting down all the way and put every setting at it's highest (except AA to FXAA, Shadow Maps to High instead of Ultra, and Level of Detail at High instead of Ultra)

those seemed like they had the most impact (that I could tell)...with the settings like that keeping 60 FPS was pretty steady except in the crowded areas...that's when things can get a bit iffy

I tried the PS4 Beta as well and I can the PC version performs a lot better from what I've done so far (not perfect but PC seems better as of now)

Could be that CPU holding you back, especially since you said it tends to happen in crowded areas.

Jasec that based pc ot God

Haha, it's ironic that AssCreed is almost only the one series I actually play but thus far I've not made an AssCreed PC perf. thread. :( I'd like to be able to say, "Maybe this year!", but alas...

I might give Hitman 2016 a whirl, though, seeing as I've never actually played a Hitman game (I'm terrible, I know).

cant get free or v-sync to work, 30-50 fps with a 390 and 2500k

man black desert online and the division run better than this small level

Currently downloading. Will report back. (i7 4790k, GTX 970)
Playing it on steam link and a steam controller.

Crossfire R9 290s
i7 4790k

Using everything medium/normal with Shadow Maps on High, 8x AF and Supersampling about 1/3 of the way up. Generally in the 70s in densely populated areas and up to the high 110s elsewhere. Seems like most settings are a few frames a piece but Supersampling is the big driver here and has the biggest impact on IQ. Turning it off was way too blurry for me but all the way absolutely tanks performance. Kinda interesting to put it on a sliding scale like that.

Overall, I like it.

Not sure if there's a Crossfire profile in place or if I'm getting negative scaling. Will try different CF settings, moderate overclocking and a frame limiter later.

Yeah must be the CPU I guess. You had a good run 3570k but your time might just be up. Also worth noting that the settings you set before the game launches reset themselves upon loading, so you have to go to the menu in-game to change them all again.

Wow. This runs like shit as soon as you come to an crowded area or use instinct. It runs perfect for like half a second than it hangs for another half or so. Hard to describe. (4790k, GTX970)

Sounds like it's not the CPU then.

AMD GPUs may fare better with this.

And the in game super sampling slider is weird as fuck. If you turn it down completely it lowers the resolution. So the 0 value is somewhere between a third and a half.

I noticed that the weird stutter is only coming when at the main deck where the bar is. It's unplayable in this state for me. :-/

Edit: oh.... The Apple updater in the background was the culprit. Stutter is away now. Nice. Still diving when in crowded area though. But it's perfectly playable now.

That's to be expected. At 0.50 you're essentially rendering the game at half your native resolution, which is why it defaults to 1.00.

The frame-rate is all over the place and I'm pretty sure it's the amount of NPCs. Gonna have to cap this because the drops are pretty frequent and jarring. At average I get about 45 fps on 1080p with High settings (except for Shadow Resolution which is set at Medium), but as soon as you look at the crowd it nosedives to lower thirties and sometimes upper twenties.

i5 4670K
8 GB 1600 MHz
Sapphire 280X 3GB

As for the actual gameplay from the simulation area, it's pretty good. Kinda small though, but obviously I assume it opens up much more with new and bigger areas as you progress.

Yeah I'm not going to jump the gun and upgrade my CPU just yet as more populated areas in Absolution seem fine. Worrying though that such a small map would be so demanding.

Larger maps with more NPCs? How does the beta mission stack up compared to something like the Chinatown level in Absolution in terms of size and density?

Chinatown has a lot more going on.

It seems SLI isn't working. Second GPU is showing 0% load on my GTX 690.

The FPS is pretty damn shite even on low settings. ;)

AFAIK this beta is just to test the network stuff for Hitman. I wouldn't really pay the current performance woes too much miind, for all we know this is an older more unoptimized build.

Like i said in the Doom thread, let's wait till it actually launches before we get concerned. IO has made some excellent pc games in the past so i give them the benefit of the doubt

So I tried it. I maxed out all details (i4770 here with a 970) before booting the game, but while I was playing I noticed all details switched back to Medium. So I maxed out them again but couldn't see any difference, so I don't really know if I played on Medium or High. The game seems very unoptimized, anyway.

Runs fine on my rig, 55-60fps.

Core i5 2500k @ 4.5ghz
12GB of ram
GTX 980

Well, you are above the recommended setting.

I believe I read somewhere that the Beta build is the build from January. I may be wrong on that though. IF that's true, then it's certainly possible optimizations have been done that will only be in the final game.

Damn, performance is all over the place even with latest NVIDIA drivers and with these settings:

Cranking up SSAA is not an option cuz the game will be pretty much unplayable.

My specs:

i7-4790K
GTX 980
16 GB RAM

P.S. Goddamn these extremely compressed videos during loading. I hate these F things. It's 2016 for Christ's sake. Can we please stop using this shit?!

Performance is all over the place even with most settings on "Medium", will replay the missions tomorrow with the frame rate locked at 30 and I'll see how it goes.

Now I see why this game supports DX12. I expect major performance improvements considering how CPU heavy the game can be.

Runs at a locked 60fps here with everything maxed except for super sampling.

i7 6700k, 32GB DDR4, GTX 980Ti

With SS it is hovering at around 35fps.
