What we know so far about the Nintendo NX with sources

The most surprising thing about the alleged leak is that we might see Federation Force within the next 6 months. Since it's been dead silence, I'm wondering what will be different next time we see it.

F-Zero isn't an all ages game, stop stretching to decode TorteCity into an F-Zero game.

I really hope Zelda NX is a shoo-in. I need that big, beautiful game on the strongest hardware possible.

I advised Trev and his source to proceed with increased caution about this matter. As you say, tracing will likely commence.

My source is totally safe. We appreciate your concern though, yes the source is risking their career but precautions have been made before I posted this info to protect them.

Good, just make sure that your source stays safe.

By the way, did you hear anything about Rhythm Heaven Plus? Or if not, is there a chance that RH+ could be one of the lower-budget codenamed games?

It's going to be a mess. I guess the leaker either does not care about their job or did not learn anything from the public examples of Chris Pranger or even CBOAT. I hope this was a controlled leak but that's not Nintendo's MO so...I doubt it....

It certainly makes it more likely that report is legit but Trev or his source could have found this listing earlier and sat on it to make their report seem more credible.

I wouldn't post any more info, tbh. At this point, they know this kind of info's out there and will be looking to flush it out with fake info.

Interesting that there was no Wii U news in Trev's leak. Why wouldn't there be if the 3DS info is legit?

Aside from the obvious "Wii U is ded derpdedoo."

It's going to be an F-Zero that takes place in Sweet Sweet Galaxy. Since, y'know, torte.

And Sweets Park.

And Yoshi & Cookies:

Perfect! I am playing through Super Mario RPG again and just finished fighting the cake. I welcome more games centered around sweets.

Nintendo makes two comparitively weak consoles it seems they will never be able to live it down. Jesus. If anything, going by this logic, the handheld nx should be in the neighborhood of approaching the wiiu and the nx console should be at least as powerful as the xbox one. So ffxv and ffvr def dont seem outta the picture.

Also we know the wiiu was intended to be much more powerful but they had cooling issues and gimped the whole thing. I know i remeber reading that.

Hell wasnt the 3ds alao supposed to be more powerful but tegra couldnt deliver?

I am really thinking that the handheld (unless it's the controller itself or...heck, who knows anymore) could fairly easily equal, if not exceed somewhat, the Wii U in power. I really don't think it can hit PS4 (maybe "could," but the costs would be fairly expensive at that point for a handheld), but other than being long, the Wii U console itself isn't that incredibly big, and it had to do all sorts of trickery with a gamepad with a screen in it. It's certainly looking like the insides won't be similar to the Wii U by any means, but capable enough processors and such seem to exist that could at least match it. Without having to deal with another screen, I think they could get it pretty capable to a Wii U level of power affordably. I'm also still thinking that the handheld may mirrorcast to a TV and allow a console-like experience with the handheld.

Nintendo just seems to be heading towards "gamification" things, such as AR and Miitomo, and I'm really curious what kind of platform they are envisioning. Gamification is going to relate somehow and tie into the whole experience. It's interesting as there is a Mobile World Conference going on in Barcelona and Sony mentioned people look at their smartphones 150 times a day. Yet, they (along with some other companies) want to reduce smartphone "usage" and instead move towards other ways of interaction, such as wearables and AR. I've been playing some mental acrobatics applying this concept to video game devices and how Nintendo wants people to play/experience games in a new way. Nintendo will aim to make this concept so easy that kids can understand and use it, so it can't be too radical and needs to be intuitive. I've gotten nowhere. Either thinking on it is something too simple/ordinary or too complicated. They're going to take something already existing or "out there" and apply it uniquely, but what?

Trevelyan9999, thanks for the morsels!

Mpl90

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
At this point, I woder though why the Wii U part of the leak didn't contain the Nintendo Selects releases, since they're both for 3DS and Wii U, not just 3DS.

He already leaked the Wii U stuff, & it's just games that we already know about except for one unannounced game (which is likely Paper Mario U).

I hate to tell you this, but if this is legitimate information, the leak will be traced, simple as that.

NOA doesn't just hand out fiscal/budgetary information to most of its employees. There is a very specific group of employees that are privy to such pertinent information. In fact, I'm pretty sure I know exactly what department your source works in. How could I possibly know this? Because I also know someone who is privy to such information, and I can guarantee you that they would never have released this information, because they actually like, and want to keep their job.

I hope for your source's sake that someone leaked that information to them, because if they received it directly, it's beddy-bye for your brave little leaker.

Actually if I was an official ninja, I'll start with Trevelyan9999, not with the actual leaked info.
I wouldn't mind too much, though. Ninjas aren't what they used to be, especially japanese ones in today's internet world. And they never was that threatening in the west.

Something just occurred to me. Trev, is your list mainly for games that are getting physical releases? If so, this could mean that Picross is a digital-only release, & that the other two lower-budget codenamed games are likely late localizations of Rhythm Heaven Plus & Style Savvy (both of which would get physical copies).

My guesses are:
Torte City: Yokai Watch 2
N-Stars: Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 (localization hinted)
Caviar F: Picross 3D
Cadillac: Rhythm Heaven Best

I still think that Picross 3D could be a digital-only release, while Caviar F & Cadillac could be between Rhythm Heaven Plus & Style Savvy. Of course, you could be right, since I would be more inclined to agree with the first two guesses. But either way, I hope Rhythm Heaven Plus is one of the two lower-budget codenamed games.

I doubt federation force has changed that much aside from being polished up. They aren't going to make a whole new game just because some people on the internet who never played it got mad.

People got mad about tropical freeze, 3D world, windwaker etc too.

I prefer not to have leaks but I understand their appeal to people (they could be fun). That being said, I really hope nobody gets into trouble by this!

Wario's car is based on a Cadillac. Just sayin...

Pokémon Rainbow has been has been a very obvious signifier of a fake leak for years and years. Its presence here sounds VERY big alarm bells for me.

Yep. Bogus Pokemon Rainbow rumors showing up near the start of a new Pokemon gen is something that's been happening for a long time now. Tanks any belief I have in this, but I'd be happy to be wrong.

I will update my website soon, but my source said to not go too crazy with Pokémon Niji (translation Rainbow) code name. While it is the 20th anniversary Pokémon game on 3DS, code names rarely are the final name.

Now you've got me hoping F-Zero will be chibified next. They should just do that with all of Nintendo's "serious" IPs. Chibi Eternal Darkness. 😂

Neoxon it's like you don't read and memoriz my posts. 😉 I've suggested this about a zillion times now, long before Trev's leak and also since then 😵 Style Savvy OS the likeliest to get a physical release and then whether RH or Picross would is a toss-up I think because I was under the impression the two RH retail releases in NA had a lot of leftover stock (or at least the Wii game? Maybe that's what I'm thinking of) and I'm not sure how Picross 3D sold for DS at retail.

My guesses are:
Torte City: Yokai Watch 2
N-Stars: Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 (localization hinted)

I wonder if YW has been out long enough for 2 to come out yet. Was it already hinted or confirmed for this year? I suppose that could be one of the games then. I thought N-Stars said mass appeal big budget game though, does DQM really fit that bill?

Oh and were the other confirmed DQ games on the list?

So it's probably just Pokémon Z. Fair enough.

I'm saying that I agree with you on Picross 3D being digital-only & Style Savvy getting a physical launch. As for Rhythm Heaven, it sold fairly well on the DS, so I could see the 3DS game getting a physical release.

10 million sounds super low for Zelda's marketing budget, though it is only in one territory.
But, despite only revealing one new game there are several listings for it that popped up so I guess there's no need to be too skeptical.
Caviar F could be Yokai Watch (main Yokai is a cat) or a Callie Marie rhythm game (sounds like something they'd do)
Pokemon rainbow is funny since that's the fake "leaked" Pokemon that gets announced every year :p
N-Stars sounds like Nintendo Stars but that's probably too obvious

While expected, I think there still quite a bit of people who thought NX console wouldn't come out this year. I'm just happy I'll have a way to play the new Zelda without having to buy a Wii U. I know a lot of people here think it is a great system, but it wasn't going to buy one literally right before the next system comes out.

Not really considering its a wiiu game (sorry wiiu) and it seems like the nx version will slip into next year. Plus a new zelda has a ton of word of mouth. I wouldnt spend much on a dying console either.

Plus the re-reveal of the game during E3 should go a long way

Do we have any idea about past Zelda marketing budgets? I figured they were going to go for broke with this new Zelda since it seems pretty damn ambitious. I imagine it's the type of game they could use to reel in lapsed Nintendo fans or people who don't think Nintendo makes "real" video games.

Brehs already leaking marketing budgets

This is what happens when you decide to keep your mouth shut until E3
Yeah that Zelda budget seems way to low for marketing. Maybe the NX version has the bulk of the marketing?

Also, we all know Nintendo is incompetent in using the Internet so they'll never find Trev :p

We don't usually get marketing budgets, but MK8 and Splatoon got big pushes
And, if anything, Nintendo would push both versions back or Wii U back.

Seems like the budget for the Wii U version

Promote Zelda NX as killer app for the NX = profit

Other great points! (Especially Chibi F-Zero! Chibi Eternal Darkness would be creepier than the original!)

I wonder how these departments have changed with the growth of digital distribution? They have means of marketing and such still, but I'm curious how that has changed the way they operate, much less what information they would ever need to know about. Nintendo could be more closed off now in this age than ever before just from this.

Wario's car is based on a Cadillac. Just sayin...

Oh man...come back to us Wario in that sweet ride!

Summer
Code name: “Torte City” big budget unannounced game for all gamers core/all ages
Dragon Quest VII
Code name: “Cadillac” (casual friendly smaller budget game late summer)

Fall-Holiday
3DS Hardware Price Cut
Code name: “N-Stars” big budget game for all ages
Nintendo Selects Wave 2
Code name: “DMW2” possibly Disney Magical World 2
Dragon Quest VIII
Pokémon 20th Anniversary game “Niji” Japanese translation: “Rainbow”

Thinking back to the shared library concept, I wanted to focus on this section of the release list. Though 3DS releases, do you think there is anything keeping these games from another handheld or a console? I'm not seeing that really. In fact, if "N-Stars" as a Skylander-esque amiibo platform thing is true, why couldn't/WOULDN'T they crossplay that across devices? Also, with the 3DS price cut and Dragon Quest VIII, Fall/Holiday seems like prime NX release time to me!

All those leaks, legit or not, get me super thirsty for that new format Nintendo Direct, they got to announce Paper Mario Wii U soon enough.
About NX home console first, honestly I was expecting it.

It is weird that an employee in marketing decided to leak stuff making his job harder. Just kind of funny, I guess
But they're also not very specific, maybe because they just don't know all that much.
I might've complained a bit, but I'm kind of glad it's that way. Leaves more surprised for the rest of the year.
Trev mentioned Zelda NX being a launch window game. I expect it to slip into early next year.
I'm guessing he meant that Zelda U is basically done while the NX port is being worked on

Mannnnn reading this thread has been something else hahaha :D

I went through the same as you Trevelyan (but not trying to verify my source) and was laughed for several threads (later redeemed).

In the end I thought it was not worthy so now the little information I get I keep it to myself and enjoy reading all kind of speculation from people here.

My only contribution:

- ShockingAlberto has been wrong before so I don't understand why a "ahahaha" post is taken as gospel (no offense to ShockingAlberto).
- Cadillac is the New Style Boutique game (so you only need to speculate about the other ones).

E3 is around the corner guys, be patient! :)

Amazing at the fact that the OP still has member status right now.

I want to believe that in fact it's Caviar F that is the F-Zero title we yearn for.

F - (number of people who like caviar = zero)

It's entirely possible he was juniored and returned to member status. Unsure what happened back in 2012 though, that was before my GAF time. If only Parody Thread Urges was around back then.

I do think F-Zero is coming back eventually. I wonder if the new controller or HH control input will entice them to make a new game.

Yokai Watch 2 wasn't hinted but I'd be surprised if NoA skips it.

For 3DS, DQMJ3 is as big budget as it can get, giant open world, rideable monsters and full online modes. DQM games sell no less than 2m in Japan, I guess they have "mass appeal".
