something strange happen to me in the training mode
i was trying to get a piece, wasted all my chance, pressed A twice and the rabbit gave me another 5 chances.
is that normal?

Has this been confirmed? I've read that if there's only one badge left in the machine and you waste multiple plays trying to get it then they'll just give it to you. But what if there's more than one left?

Well, yes. If you go through a pack of plays without winning a badge, you're awarded one random badge from those remaining in the machine.

Ah, interesting. Still doesn't take the sting out of spending $1 for one badge, but better than nothing I guess.

Yeah, other people have mentioned it in the thread previously: http://neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=192792530&highlight=practice#post192792530

Somebody mentioned that the badges are left in the same position, too, so if you whiff the first play, you might as well whiff the rest while trying to move the badges to an advantageous position. I do wonder what happens if you whiff the second set, though.

I can't believe there are so many Megaman badges. I only have $10 eShop credit right now. And I don't know when they will be available in NA, but I'll try to get as many as I can. They look neat.

Booted this up for the first time since Day 1.

Got a free play because of the pokemon anniversary and promptly got 4 badges

Used my daily free practice to earn 3 free plays. Got all five badges there including Mega Blaziken.

I tried it because I heard about Mega Man badges. I will have to git gud at this in time for those.

edit: just saw the mega man badges on the previous page. combined with the one MM theme you can make some really sick layouts using those robot master badges. i have a decent amount of eShop credit from stocking up during card sales. I am now committed to getting all of those.

Looks like we've got the same in Europe this week- just for once, we're up to speed with the other regions! Not that I personally care much for Pokemon badges, though...

Next week will have to be Twilight Princess HD, I guess?

The Megaman badges suck. They're like too small and don't fit in with the rest of the Sprite badges. Super disappointed.

I had a practice badge get stuck in the chute today. It fell out of sight but didn't "count." I had to drop another badge down there and then they both fell down properly.

What's the L+R trick?

Repeatedly press L and R (or left and right on the circle pad or d-pad) to alternate between two panels. On certain panels, especially ones with slopes, this will cause badges to fall if you do it enough. There's a current Fire Emblem panel where you can get rid of the arrow after about 2 minutes of L+R. There were some underwater Mario panels recently where I was able to snag some free bloopers after 3 minutes. Other panels may take considerably longer to make any progress. Only attempt it if you have at least 1 active play, or else you won't be able to collect any badges that fall.

Here's an example (skip to 3:10 to see the glorious results): https://youtu.be/j1dA2SJ5R9I

She goes on about "Wow that really WAS a hard one" (Not exact words)
No more free chances after that.

Do my eyes deceive me, or are these Nikki badges new?

WVW69i7vjEs4Zs1rgg

Any and all Nikki badges instantly become top priority for me.

That set was up for Valentine's in the EU, can't speak for America/Japan

Regarding the Mega Man badges, is there no badge for his face in the centre of the robot select screen?

The L + R trick never works for me. I mean, absolutely nothing even slightly judders. I wonder if it's because I'm on N3DS and it doesn't have to reset the panels each time.

They've done that as a theme instead.

I'm on n3DS and L+R works for me just fine.

Waii! Mega Mawile! She even got specifically mentioned right off the bat when they brought up the mega evos :D
You can bet that was the first thing I went straight for with my 2 free plays :3

~crosses fingers for delusional hope of it meaning something for Pokken~

Oh, that's a great idea. I assume all of the surrounding portraits are badge-sized if you change to an appropriate scale?

I've had it work for me on an N3DS, although I'm not particularly good at it. I think most of the badge movement actually occurs when the scroll is happening, so by the time it stops all small movement has ceased.

I had my first success with the L+R trick, IIRC, on the Zelda panel with a large amount of rupees on it (not the Wind Waker one, one prior to that - probably ALBW)

The thing that fascinates me about L+R is that I'm fairly sure it's deliberate, and not a bug. It's completely illogical to have the 'toggle between machines' control having any influence on the physics, you could simply scroll the new one in without there being any physical component to it. They don't do that, and I really can't see any reason they don't do that unless they intend the abuse of physics.

You won't really notice the movement until something is on the brink of falling. I prefer using left and right on the d-pad myself. I just put my middle and index fingers on left and right, then try to find a good rhythm. I do it while browsing GAF, and listen for the sound cues. The Fire Emblem one with the arrow is a good one to practice on right now to see if you're doing it correctly. It should take no more than 2-3 minutes for the arrow to slide out. I also used it successfully on the recent Cheer Reader panel, which makes me think it's particularly effective on arrows.

And, yeah, L+R has to be deliberate. They probably put it in to mimic tipping crane machines in real life, heh. Not that I've... done such a thing.

Edit: Yeah, L+R trick should work on Yellow Devil. He did it on a similar machine before: https://youtu.be/fIr9L6THQlk?t=3m18s I wish I had thought to use it before I wasted 4 plays on Wind Waker Ganondorf. -_-

Wow, some of the AC panels are only here for a day. I went to go hit the one with Shrunk and the two big blocks. I decided to see if the left one would be best to hit with my Free Play. So I moved it over there, close to the wall without bumping into it. (It finished coasting pretty close to it, though.) The hammer went down maybe a centimeter, stopped, took a swing at open air, then called back. How wonderful.

The game REALLY should be more liberal about "Hey, something went a little weird during that play, here's another one."

Got some more badges yesterday for Pokemon's 20th anniversary. Went to the Steel board and got all of them, but really wanted Magneton and Klinglang. Also got the Mega Evolution starters, but really wanted Mega Blaziken.

I can't be the only one who finds it ridiculous the the arm sometimes goes through a badge? It happens way to often that I try to grab a badge and push another one aside, but instead it goes completely through the other badge that I'm trying to push aside and than it has the most ridiculous grab. It barely does anything.

A team of the world's greatest physicists are currently trying to figure out how this damn game works. Every board seems to operate in its own spacetime continuum. The good thing about the crane sometimes going through items is that you can spear some badges for easy grabs.

I got some letter's of Mega/Rockman's name, but I only grabbed R O M A N. At least that's a word.

Any tips for some of the Fire Emblem ones?

I caved and paid money for 5 plays to get the Pokemon ones I want, and then some of the FE ones. :(

Also, good lord, those new Animal Crossing ones yesterday in NA made me want to die. For future reference, here's the one with DJ KK and the evil Brewster gyroids: https://youtu.be/VSDYgzYWXmc?t=4m4s

I posted it on the last page, but videos 154-160 on this playlist show how to (and how not to) get the current set of FE badges: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDbHCpfKIHMt8zXVLeikSlmrkfFsPmeV2

Thanks...I got 20 plays and got most of the FE heads I wanted and have way more than I need now. I'm good for now, lol.

A repeat NA practice catcher today? The worst part was the claw got stuck on the left wall for like a minute as it was bringing something up, then just ended up dropping the badge.

Games Tuthinoko celebrates 4000 badges and tries to get Mega Man 1 sprites and MM2 portraits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7UQdL1t5Yc

The placement of Air Man has to be a reference to Air Man ga Taosenai.

Same here. Wasted two practice turns and got no real plays today because the claw got stuck and dropped the badge.

Damn I got four moves for the JPN game and got all the MM2 bosses except for the best ones: Air Man and Quick Man. And the MM2 boss portraits are on a bomb map. They really want you to fork over that cash.

Rhythm Heaven theme is finally up in the US, but there aren't many RH panels up so I don't want to buy 10 plays, haha. I only need one of the badges. Hopefully since that theme is up until 3/3 they'll add a few more different panels tomorrow.

Here's hoping...
I already own all the ones that have come out in NA.

Also Just got some play pass cards from my Nintendo Rep. Guess I can find out soonish if they count towards getting themes (probably not)

Here's what the cards look like (back/front)
(Code is already used so don't bother)

Probably not.
In the NES Zelda badges we still have them all in Japanese characters.

I'm okay with that. How long will it take for these badges though?

The actual Badge Arcade took a year until it was released outside of Japan. I don't think the badge sets should take that long though.

I wish they timed it so the Megaman badges came out at the same time as the Legacy collection. I hope I don't have to wait months and months.

Physics! Wanted to get Karate Joe but he's just... stuck! No more plays!

Luckily I used the L/R trick and he fell down within about a minute.
