Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for Win 10 |OT| Down But Not Out

I kinda have a feeling that there is some not-so-bad AF - 4x to 16x, hard to spot in the beginning of campaign really - applied if you bump the texture quality manually to "Highest". Note that if you choose High preset then you get High texture quality. Highest option isn't included in the top quality preset it seems.

Anyway, a screenshot on High preset + Highest textures:

It's a really good looking game with quality AF. Although in this shot it does not seem like 16xAF.
Have you tried forcing it and have you noticed improvements ?

That is... quite odd. That is not something I would necessarily miss (as I always click through all options to see if Ultra actually pushes everything up), but I imagine a lot of people could have lower AF as a result.

I've not read the topic but has it been reminded to people that it's 351,00₴ in Ukraine - £9.27, or $12.93

I think I found a work around for the long loading times with G-Sync enabled: tab out. It loads just as quick as normal and G-Sync continues to work normally once you tab back in.

2 hours later, and no response from Microsoft and I still can't download Gears. Awesome store, so glad I tried it out.

This shot in particular don't show any difference between app controlled AF and AF16x set in the driver.

The game uses FXAA which kinda blurs all textures a bit and this may be a reason why some people think that there is no AF while in practice it's definitely there on Highest texture quality at least (haven't tried the lower ones).

Here's an example, app controlled left, driver forced 16x right:

There is a difference but from it I'd say that the game is using at least 4x AF by itself.

Do we know how much vram highest textures is using?

With everything maxed at 1080p on my 970 it feels pretty close to 60 fps, but I can feel the frame pacing issues for sure.

I feel like the game also looks weirdly stretched or something. Hard to explain.

Any SLI support? No purchase for me without it.

I thought DX12 was supposed to improve gaming, but so far it seems to be making things allot more inconvenient or not working...

Does checking afterburner not work? I don't mean the OSD, but after closing or lowering the game does it display statistics when you open the program?

Thanks a lot. Indeed the difference in your shot is subtle. So the game must be using 16xaf sometimes, perhaps depending on textures.

Anyway I'll have it set at 16x in the driver and call it a day.

We really need a 21:9 checkbox in future PC OT.

Anyone confirm yet?

It seems that the game have a preset number of resolutions available as I can actually select 3840x2160 and 3840x2400 above my native 2560x1600 - and this results in supersampling happening.

The game isn't smooth at all and if I turn the framerate lock on I'm getting a really bad lag on the controls in addition to the same stuttering.

It is still fully playable though in my native 2560x1600 on my 980Ti. Just far from being smooth.

VRAM usage according to AB has peaked at 5.3GB for me during the first level of the game on Highest textures.

If you are in Germany and want to buy this, go to the regional settings in Windows and change your location to Austria and create an Austrian address for your profile, or you won't be able to do so.

Huh the gsync issues with cutscenes is more pronounced than I had originally thought. I guess the game considers the intro videos and the loading screens to be similar to the cutscenes in this game because I literally have to hold ALT+TAB just to get the game to load. Smooth regardless but holy crap they need to fix that shit asap. I want to support your PC venture MS, but shit like this makes it really hard.

Anyone know where the installation directory is? Or where I should direct Nvidia?

The game data is in "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.DeltaPC_1.5.0.0_x64__{blablabla}\"

There's an EXE there btw, WarGameUE.exe

The game something is in "C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.DeltaPC_{blablabla}\"

No, Win 10 apps can be added to the Nvidia control panel

How? Is this a (really) new feature? I've been having to use the global profile for my Windows Store version of Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Technically there might be an exe, but it works differently. Try launching it and watch what happens.

Yeah...

...But still...

...This is actually the EXE which is running in practice so technically a driver may be able to use its profiling system via detecting this process as active.

W10 doesn't let me go into WindowsApps...says I don't have permission and I need to goto the Security tab...wtf. I'm the only user/admin on my PC.

For info: a quick play with Nvidia suggests using the WindowsApps\ .exe file doesn't work.

Cutscenes are pre rendered that's why they're 30fps. They look low res on my 1440p monitor. Also the game wont launch with gsync. Without it, framerate feel very choppy. Waiting for them to properly fix the gsync issues.

Does DS4Windows work with W10 store games like this one? I know they're very strict on wrappers / injectors like SweetFX or Fraps.
