Nintendo Direct: new presentation announced for tomorrow

I got hyped for .0001 micro-seconds when I immediately read the "No NX or mobile info" I understand about NX but why no mobile info when Miitomo is actually launching this month? Nintendo...

Looking forward for this Direct anyways. Not that hyped because really, what else they have left to show? Especially on Wii U. My bets:

- Paper Mario U reveal trailer. Carbon copy of Sticker Star but in HD. Meltdowns across the interwebz.

- More animu RPGs for 3DS (ugh)

- 10 minutes of Metroid Prime Federation Force and lot's of "screw you fans we do what we want despite the massive negative reception with this game. Here's your new Chibi-Samus amiibo wich is the only way to play with Samus on the actual game"

- Pokkén footage nothing exciting.

- Mario and Sonic at the Olympics footage. Megaton

- #FE footage nothing exciting only weirdness that only 5 people are gonna buy.

- New amiibo announced

-Star Fox Zero exciting trailer with a special message by Miyamoto at the end to announce it'll be delayed again.

- Peeeeeeeeeeerhaps a lil trailer for Zelda's 30th anniversary like they did with Mario last year and maaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe another 3 second teaser of Zelda U of Link running on the same old grassy field we have seen for two years now.

Hype...

Im going with this as the most accurate depiction as well

So if Sun/Moon turn out to essentially be Black2/White2 but with ~30 new Pokemon as well as new Mega Evolutions, you'd consider that Gen VII?

I'm not saying that's likely, but it's not a completely ludicrous idea or you would have updated your site.

Yes that is Gen 7. The only way that SM is not Gen 7 is if that bird shown in the trailer ethier isn't a new Pokemon or isn't in the game and that Megeana isn't in the game. That seems very unlikely. New Pokemon = New Generation.

It's almost been 2 years already. God damn man. God damn. That is all I can say.

I only want a release date for Fire Emblem Fates, Dragon Quest VII and #FE, more is not needed.
The localisation of The Great Ace Attorney and at least one of the Dragon Quest Monsters games would be appreciated, though an overload of DQ games in 2016 wouldn't do the series a favour and Capcom most definitely prioritises Ace Attorney 6.

Yeah, although I'm trying to keep myself optmistic, I can't help but think that this is what gonna end up happening.

You know what pisses me off? Miyamoto pushed for Sticker Star because according to him, otherwise it would end up being "Too similar to the gamecube-one".

Now what are we gonna get? A carbon copy of Sticker Star.

All I want is Zelda. If just get that absolutely nothing else matters. Just not a 10 second tease like last time. Also, more often than not Nintendo does stray a little bit from their "Wii U and 3DS games for Spring/Summer/Fall etc." I remember their last direct was supposed to be about Spring 2016 games but we wound up getting that 10 second tease for Zelda Wii U and the announcement of DQVII and VIII for 3DS, where I believe DQVII is summer 2016 and DQVIII is sometime later in 2016.

They clearly are :p While there were just 72 new Pokémon, there were also 48 Mega Evolutions and 2 Primal Reversions. They're new Pokémon in all but name.

I was obviously just kidding but I never thought about the Mega Evos like that. Makes sense, I guess.

I still wonder what they're gonna do about Volcanion and Zygarde though.

I feel that's a really outdated way of looking at it. The Mega Evolutions introduced in ORAS weren't in the coding of XY, and there's every chance they could decide to add new Pokemon in that way as well.
Maybe new forms of existing Pokémon, but not entirely new Pokémon. Sun/Moon is Gen 7, plain & simple.

I think this is shockingly accurate. I can't stand more Pokken or StarFox footage at this point. I don't really have anything I'm looking forward to from Nintendo so far so I hope they at least have something new and (relatively) exciting. Not expecting much, though

No update on mobile projects or NX platform

I love how many times recently they've gone out of their way to say "We're not going to talk about the things you really want to hear about." A number of investor meetings, E3, Directs...

I just realized, Yo-kai Watch 3 is coming this summer, so in the Japan Direct, there could be new info for the game.

Plus we could get Yo-kai Watch 2 revealed in the American Direct for a summer release.

And the original Yo-kai Watch game for the European Direct.

It's literally the Yo-kai Apocalypse.

Mind blown.

I agree with this. But it's still pretty obvious that Sun and Moon are Gen 7 with all the talk of new eras and new worlds, in addition to the new Pokemon.

Why? I mean Pokken is a known quantity but it makes sense to promote it in advance of release. Plus maybe we'll get something new/their post release plan.

And Star Fox we really haven't seen anything new of since E3. The stuff in the November Direct was the same.

I love how this somewhat negative post is probably the most realistic set of predictions in this entire thread.

I consider it Gen 7 based on the following reasons:

1. It includes new Pokémon
2. Compatibility with past gens (yes, XYORAS) is only done via Pokémon Bank
3. The way it was announced; 1996 (RB), 1999 (GS), 2002 (RS), 2006 (DP), 2010 (BW), 2013 (XY) and now...
4. The press release said it was a new generation.

Hey Joe, I agree with you because of the first 3 reasons but do you have a link to the press release that says that it is a new gen? I totally missed that.

But Sun/Moon is 3DS-only, & we did see Zelda U footage last November.

Forgot about the Zelda U footage... but really it couldn't been from an earlier build and we'd be none the wiser.

If Pokemon was a generic AAA game that is supposed to release 2 years from now, then Concept Art + 3D Wireframes wouldn't be raising my eyebrows. But all things considered, that Pokemon Direct was suspect and I don't think we can close the door on potential shenanigans.

What is this exactly based on? You being optimistic?

Mega Evolutions are reversible changes in a Pokemon which change there stats, ability ect. Mechanically they are far more similiar to forms/formes than they are to whole new Pokemon.

If they do add new Pokemon to game X while it is not coded into game Y then Game X is in another generation. The term Generation is defined by new Pokemon.
