Next news is the Sinking City. Our Open world investigation Lovecraftian game. Yes, you read well. Open World, Investigation and Lovecraft.

It’s bigger than what we ever did and we feel it’s the right next step for us, bringing the investigations to be free and opened in the city. We also believe that Lovecraft universe, Cthulhu Mythos is the right setting for the game.

YESSSS...

Gives me Dark Corners of the Earth vibes. Hopefully it's more like the first half (Though the part when your ship is attacked by deep ones, and you and the marines stationed there have an epic battle was pretty awesome)

This shit could be fantastic. Open world Cthulu? If I don't get to climb down a well, witness a churning horror from another age and slowly go mad as I attempt to return to the world above in the first 5 minutes I will be deeply disappointed.

Open world? I hope they manage to keep the atmosphere and narrative cohesive, and fetch quests in check.

Wait, wasn't Frogwares working on that other "Call of Cthulhu" game that Cyanide then took over? What's going on here?

Did they split off to do this instead...?

Wonder how this'll be. The whole squid arms thing in the first image seems way more overt and actiony than the aspects I like about Lovecraft, but perhaps they're just showing that because that's one of the first things people think about when they hear the name. I just hope the Lovecraftian themes / influences aren't reduced to "evil squid monsters".

That subway artwork reminds me of U55, that looked pretty promising. Too bad the kickstarter failed.

I'm not too worried about open world meaning an empty space filled with fetch quest shit because of the screenshot and artworks we have. I mean, there's not a lot of space for stuff like that if this is the state of the city from the start of the game.

I agree with you, but at the same time there's a lot of potential for amazing level design using the crazier aspects of lovecraftian horror. So there's definitely a ton of potential for going all out with it.

And Bloodborne proved you can definitely marry the "cool bosses" aspect of Lovecraft with the themes approach by the narrative. What a brilliant game!

Well though thats concept art the vibe I got was this was like the takeover, the full on takeover of a massive city, like the beginning of the end. So I don't think those looking for subtlety will be as happy. I could be wrong.
I actually think that could be just as interesting as well. But we are a long ways off of course.

Yes, they were working on that game. 2 Lovecraft games are better than one, though!
