That subway artwork reminds me of U55, that looked pretty promising. Too bad the kickstarter failed.
I'm not too worried about open world meaning an empty space filled with fetch quest shit because of the screenshot and artworks we have. I mean, there's not a lot of space for stuff like that if this is the state of the city from the start of the game.
Wonder how this'll be. The whole squid arms thing in the first image seems way more overt and actiony than the aspects I like about Lovecraft, but perhaps they're just showing that because that's one of the first things people think about when they hear the name. I just hope the Lovecraftian themes / influences aren't reduced to "evil squid monsters".
I agree with you, but at the same time there's a lot of potential for amazing level design using the crazier aspects of lovecraftian horror. So there's definitely a ton of potential for going all out with it.
And Bloodborne proved you can definitely marry the "cool bosses" aspect of Lovecraft with the themes approach by the narrative. What a brilliant game!
