W-what? Damn, exciting if true. I was so satisfied with just SC that I've just completely forgetten about the third.

I think I've confused myself.
2 is PS3/Vita. And you covered 3. Has Xseed said what platforms they will localize 2 for?

Edit: oh, I can purchase the FC/SC games on Mac?

Cold Steel 2 being ported to PS4 is up to Falcom, not XSEED. It only exists on PS3/Vita/ Same goes for the first game.

I'm saying that CS3 will most likely be PS4/Vita.

As for XSEED's localization of 2, it should be PS3/Vita like 1.

Ok, got it cleared up now. Thanks!

Most importantly for this teasing announcement, is that with 3rd confirmed, we have an almost guaranteed confirmation for the Crossbell games, too.

3rd is in an easier situation because a Falcom-developed PC version exists. For Zero and Ao, there's only the PSP version, which is impossible, the Vita Evo versions, which are also impossible, and the Chinese PC versions, which could be troublesome to deal with.

I'm not sure why you'd make that leap of logic. 3rd would confirm nothing more than 3rd.

That's not necessarily true.

Tom DID say that if they localized 3rd, they would almost certainly have to localize the Crossbell games afterwards a while back. Things may have changed since then though.

Damn my Mac fanaticism! I still hope they'll decide to bring at least for PS3, because PC isn't a couple of hundred dollar game system to buy for just one game.

Worst case, snag an OEM copy of Windows 7 for like sixty bucks and install a Boot Camp partition.

Tom says a lot of things.
And then other things that contradict those things.
And then claims that he never said the thing from before despite there being a record of it on the internet.

*says something he's not supposed to*
*gets slapped by his boss who says stops it*
*forced to deny it even if the post can't be deleted/edited*

With Ys PS4 delayed till next year, I'm starting to think we'll instead get the same thing for CS3.

2016 September release on PS3/Vita
2017 on PS4 (and maybe porting CS1/2 on PS4 AS well)

3rd basically acts as a set up game for the lore that makes up the crossbell and erebonia arcs, and they can't go much further into Erebonia without addressing the events of Zero/Ao.

They're going to go further with or without them though. We are getting CS 2 before the end of the year (most likely during the summer with the current progress) and are likely to see a CS 3 announcement before any hint of Crossbell comes our way (although I would expect 3rd before we get CS 3 here). We are going to be spoiled on things, that's just something to accept as a Western fan of this series at this point.

They're already going further into Erebonia before 3rd will ever release. And story reasons like this don't dictate business decisions. If they are bringing over 3rd I'm sure that they'd still love to do Crossbell, but you can't take that as some sort of guarantee.

Agreed. It would be nice and I am sure Xseed would love to translate those games. Will it happen? Eh who knows? I wouldnt assume anything unless its stated directly from Xseed.

Assuming things can often lead to chaos such as the "maybe Dark Soul 3 PC being capped at 30 fps" thread yesterday.

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
I'm surprised, they said SC was their last PSP release so... what does that mean? I'd be really happy to have the full trilogy though.

If it isn't 3rd there is going to be some massive backlash.

Incredibly surprised that they would have already decided to do it and be in a position to announce it already though. I guess from a story standpoint they don't really have a lot of choice though, without localizing 3rd (and at some point, Crossbell) players are going to be stuck without details that the games (CS2, perhaps CS3?) expect them to know.

It means PC only release, of course.

Would be a good surprise if they manage to bring the games on PS3, just for the people who really hate to play on PC. And they're still bringing Cold Steel II to the console, as well.

You can't talk about 3rd music without mentioning Overdosing Heavenly Bliss.

FIGHTING RIGHT ON

JUST JESUS FUCK SUCH FACE MELTING.

Oh my lord.

If this is true

ERRYBODY GETS A SNEAKER

"Hang on. Sneakers? On a priest of The Church? Is that seriously OK?"

I also wonder if Cold Steel has done well enough that they feel more committed to trying to bring over every game to help shore up the series' future here.

I hope people what said they want great JRPGs ain't dawdling and not playing and buying. Thirst is mandatory!

If they are somehow able to translate all the Trails games with non-missable I'll definitely play the series.

I have a compulsion to not want to even miss one game of a series if they are set in the same continuity.

Btw, can someone confirm something about the game
I remember seeing a picture of 3rd, back when Sen no Kiseki was announced, of a silhouette of 4 kids in some place; they had the definining caracteristics of the Sen cast, and the shillouete were the main colors of the respective characters (Hair colors, basically). People were speculating back then that those figures were the main characters from Sen.

This crack theory didn't pan out at all and was busted very early on in the hype for Sen.

If we were to somehow magically get confirmation of the crossbell games coming before CS2 drops, I'd probably actually hold out on CS2 and play through 3rd/Zero/Azure first.

Use this: http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/ to install Windows Steam on your Mac. Then you can install whatever you want from within the Windows Steam app. It's really that easy. I played SC for hours on my macbook pro and even finished the game; the only issue I ran into was with the FMV scenes, otherwise it was perfect.

The events in 3rd/Zero/Ao are going to be vital to the series as a whole going forward from CS2 though, it's not like they're a side story or a spin off. And if you do 3rd, you pretty much have to do Zero/Ao as well otherwise what's the point? Might as well stop at SC if that's the case, the blue balls would only get worse.

If they do 3rd, they'll release it and then evaluate things from there. How else would it work? There are people that would like to play 3rd for its own sake and not just as a stepping stone to Zero/Ao. And you can't really use the blue balls argument when the Cold Steel games are already being localized. They didn't stop at SC.

3rd isn't a "stopping point," it seems to be designed as a stepping stone. It's the game that transitions from the mostly self contained Liberl arc in FC and SC to the bigger underlying story for the series as a whole.

I don't know how much it specifically leads into Crossbell, but apparently both Ao and CS2 make key references to events in 3rd.

How does this contradict anything I said? It's an ongoing series, nothing is going to be a "stopping point." And with the Cold Steel games being localized the series has continued on past SC in English anyway. I've already seen things in 3rd relevant to the first Cold Steel game. The idea that more games in this series shouldn't be localized if all of them aren't is not something I agree with at all.
