The king is back![3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf [1/1][Nintendo Selects] <ETC> (Nintendo) (¥2.700)
YSO predictions for Digimon are quite low - if those turn out to be reliable, it was in line with what I was saying about the decrease of the franchise in the second entry as happened on PSP - with the difference that this new game is on par with Cyber Sleuth in terms of production values unlike the second PSP game.
With this, New Leaf is going to easily surpass the Pokémon X/Y LTD even without the digital. And actually, it was already on the way to doing that without the price cut.[3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf [1/1][Nintendo Selects] <ETC> (Nintendo) (¥2.700)
Excelt for the fact that the game reuses Cyber Sleuths assets and looks noticeably worse in place.YSO predictions for Digimon are quite low - if those turn out to be reliable, it was in line with what I was saying about the decrease of the franchise in the second entry as happened on PSP - with the difference that this new game is on par with Cyber Sleuth in terms of production values unlike the second PSP game.

Unless if Sun/Moon can bring back the ip to 5M+ (which would be very surprising), the Wii U (Splatoon) and the 3DS (Animal Crossing) are the first Nintendo hardwares where the best selling game in Japan isn't involving Mario or Pokémon (or both with Smash on GC).

Plus this game is made by a different studio and isnt a direct CS sequel or a spiritual one.
I feel the biggest issue the game has is that it went after the current children's audience on Vita (I'm guessing trying to attract people who bought Minecraft?) instead of continuing to target people who liked Digimon as children and were now older, which seems to be a more realistic assessment of where the brand's appeal still exists.
Why are you saying that? I don't Next Order much more targeted to children and less to young adults than Cyber Sleuth.
Overall character designs and the story feels more light hearted compared to Cyber Sleuth from the videos I've seen.
Not in a way so that the game looks much more targeted towards a younger audience. I mean, YSO is predicting a 50% drop off.

Do pants not exist for girls in japan or something?Next Order looks like something built to be appropriate for 7-14 year olds whereas Cyber Sleuth is more racy/sexy/edgy for the ~15-22 audience. The characters are similarly older in Cyber Sleuth as well.
Maybe this comparison will help illustrate:

Save your voodoo magic. The mobile game is just an adapted port of the original game.
PS Vita game in 2016
It just looks so low budget. You can blame the world being more open, but if the scope of the game far exceeds the budget they were given maybe they should have found a way with less compromise.

Cyber Sleuth's first week was 76k if I'm not mistaken. I think Next Order will be somewhere between 55k-60k. So that's not really a %50 drop off, let's wait and see on Wednesday.
price-drop will help
I don't think it will help all that much personally. At the end of the day, the 3DS has been cheap since August 2011.

Yeah, just regular reposition. They said something for Gundam Breaker, and some other games.
After the abysmal state of the Vita release, it was pretty much an inevitability. Still, kinda sad for Western Vita owners. I'm sure you'll have a petition popping up within a week as usual.
So, completely honest question, but you do understand that products tailor their character ages, mannerisms, and designs at a particular target audience, right?KuwabaraTheMan explained quite well why Next Order is not necessarily aimed at kids, but the image comparison doesn't tell anything about a difference in demographic - perhaps you though so because the protagonist of Cyber Sleuth is not smiling?
And it has a limited physical collector's edition a la Child of Light as well.So Project Setsuna coming out on PS4 and PC in the West, digital-only. I believe Nirolak (and several others) pretty much predicted it.

Like there's a reason Pokemon and Yokai Watch star children, JRPGs tend to star teens, and Yakuza stars older men. I can go into this further if you need more clarification.
