I like it . I think it will be more Nintendo in looks once final. I think its their console/portable combo. Take the controller with you or connect it to the tv with a small box. It does look like a PS vita design.

Imma just close my eyes and ears and hope it's a non-required peripheral or something.

The reveal is going to be a hot mess. God.

If anything, leaks like this will soften the blow.

Could you imagine if they just whipped this fucking thing out at E3 for the first time? The meltdowns would be beyond legendary.

After using iPad for *heavy* gaming in the last 3 years I have ZERO problem with touch screen buttons...

...however...

...WHO THE FUCK THINKS AN OVAL CONTROLLER IS ERGONOMIC ?!?

NINTENDO, YO, THERE IS A REASON EVERY SONY AND XBOX CONTROLLER EVER HAVE HANDLES AND ARE NOT OVAL!!!

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The ovalness of this shit NEEDS TO GO!!!

If this is the controller I think I'll be giving this a miss. I hate to be negative but it looks like one of those terrible internet concept designs that get posted up on N4G.

The shape of it REALLY makes me think there's going to be an attachment that has buttons.

maybe they're not actual buttons but physical buttons that push down on the screen in a predetermined area that a developer can use, if they want want to use the attachment.

In this case it would bring the buttons closer to the nubs.

Looks interesting to say the least. I'm intrigued to see what exactly Nintendo's plan is for it (assuming it's real).

TBH, after the initial mind warp of the Wiimote reveal, this isn't anywhere on that level.

Oh no... That won't do at all... I don't understand. This is the same as Wii U, the controlles will be so expensive and they'll...

Oh no... I can't go through this again.

How can this be real? Look at the size of that ear bud, now how the fuck did a grown up pair of hands hold it? Thumb on top and two fingers underneath? And how do you hit the mouse wheels? Or the no buttons go that matter. What is it 5 inches across? No way it can be real, even Nintendo can't be that fecking stupid!
Totally agree with you.. Is too small. Thats why i think is fake.

This could possibly work out for them when you think about how successful the DS was.

Nintendo shouldn't be taking a huge risk like this, though.

I am firmly in the "virtual buttons are total shit" camp.

But interested in whether the "haptic screen buttons" rumor is true. I am not really sure how that is possible on a screen? But that would be the only way to save it. If some how you could get a button "feel" despite being a flat screen.

There are definitely ways to create resistance on a flat screen that could simulate physical buttons. The question is how well they work with the current technology, and how expensive it would be. But incorporating materials that respond to varying levels of force and become more or less resistant depending on the force applied is a very real thing

NX is about to make Wii U tablet look like a good idea.

I could have sworn there was critisms over Wii U games not fully utilizing the Wii U Gamepad.

What can they do differently here to try the same thing without the buttons??

I hope this isn't true or there's more to it.

See, I always wanted Ninty to see the light and switch to capacitive touchscreens, but this is too far.

Why you gotta be like this Nintendo? Can't you see I'm dyin' here?

It may be that I just finished a round of Laser Quest and am knackered, but I'm actually feeling pretty apathetic about this whole thing right now.

I genuinely think this might be fake. The fact that we have no shots of any software actually running on it is incredibly suspicious to me. Someone with access to decent fab technology is fucking with us

I wonder how much they charge for screen replacement if you drop it?

It looks neat and I am sure some games will work extremely well on it (I like smartphone gaming done right and this is inbetween). But I do have to wonder what this will mean for, say, fighting games or some of their own classic titles, where d-pads are preferred by many.

And I also really wonder how annoying it could be if many games have wildly different button lay-outs. I never have to look at my dualshock because the buttons are always there, it is a reliable constant without any learning curve (after your initial use). In addition to this, I have to wonder how devs will add buttons on the screen and how this will work together with a game being displayed on your TV.

I'm trying really hard to find a good reason for this design but I cant.

- More expensive, probably more expensive than the Wii U pad because of the odd screen shape

-No buttons

-3rd parties had issues with Wii U pad, this looks ever weirder

-Nobody is asking for this! Not the hardcore, not casuals, they dont give a shit. Who is Nintendo making this for? fucking bizarre.

This thing will last even lass on batteries considering the smaller size compared to the Wii U controller

Assuming this is real, this looks like a giant fuckup by nintendo. I still its fake or a weird prototype model.

You do know that they design their hardware in mind or probably at least change it before production through feedback from devs, right?

Looks like what I would expect out of a Vita2...

I never would have imagined that Nintendo would basically take a Vita and make it the next controller for their console.

I can't believe that Nintendo made a new controller even more expensive to produce than the WiiU's controller... like wow...

Knew those strange sticks led some credence to that Reddit photo. Now I just hope Nintendo pulls a Wii U and gives us real sticks for the final model.
