NX Controller Rumor [Up5: Original was fake, and thus this is too]

Considering the majority of that speculation is very negative I'm not sure that's a good thing.

I think this is what Rosti meant by being disappointed the other day. They wanted to show it fresh out of the gate without any pre-conceptions and show you what it can do.

Now they have to deal with some negative preconceptions. Gamers aren't really sympathetic to new ideas or 'gimmicks'.

Someone on Reddit said it also had a VR mode. Looking at the pics I guess it's possible.

Just remember guys... it's not going to look exactly like this. It hasn't even been publicly revealed yet...

Heres the Wii / WiiU / NDS first public shots and actual launch products:

If they think touchscreen buttons are sufficient for a dedicated handheld or console controller, Nintendo has finally fucking lost it.

It looks uncomfortable, impractical and tries to solve a problem that does not exist. The screen is the very definition of a gimmick.

If this is true, Nintendo rocks for having the balls to atempt shit like this.

They are also probably not gonna have the slightest 3rd party support for not offering industry standard options out of the box.

I predict a flop like you've never seen before.

People keep suggesting that an attachment or dock with buttons could happen, but unless it's included with the console and every separately sold controller, there's still going to be trouble since 3rd parties won't want to bother releasing or porting games on console where only a limited percentage of owners will have access to a standard controller input.

Well yeah but that's Sony not Nintendo, aka the king of handhelds. *smug*

Also weren't those nubs similar to the 3DS' and not actual sticks? I mean look at the pictures, those are legit analog sticks. That thing does not go into a pocket.

shrug, I just wanted to make a joke, I wasn't really committed here. :3

The denial in this thread is beautiful.
"Guys it wouldn't have a confidential property label come on so fake lol"

"Guys the confidential property label doesn't say Nintendo on it come on so fake lol"

Wow!

Just woke up to this. Looks dope as hell. Haven't read through 50 pages of comments, but if people are still arguing about how Nintendo 'never learns' etc, I can't be bothered.

I mean, if you really think Nintendo being experimental caused them huge financial loss or something you must be kinda stupid. DS - huge success. Wii - huge success. Wii U, appealing to some sort of middle ground/very conservative - hot mess. (Also, the gamepad had little to do with Wii Us popularity really).

Nintendo have a vision, and yes, they probably have thought about the 'backlash' and the complaints. But really, they would have addressed anything that would make it a commercial failure/bad at playing games in R&D and market research.
