I'm scared the real one will actually be worse. Nintendo is about as predictable/logical as Charlie in Always Sunny these days.

I can't tell if they've lost their (home console) touch, or people just don't like Nintendo anymore on a subconcious level and they're doomed.

Interesting times await.

You think those newer shots are photoshopped? I think they are almost for sure real photos of... something. People say that it's a 3D printed model, but that doesn't look like something 3D printed to me (not on a typical crappy 3D printer anyway)

They are incredibly convincing. And I say that as a vfx art director who's worked with some of the biggest shops in CA on reasonably big shows.

That said, someone with the time and skill could certainly create something that convincing, especially given all the noise and compression covering up any detail, and of course that it's a still.

I just don't know what to think after the making of video with the tape and everything in the same place. The white shot is crap and has obvious flaws. But maybe that was round 1 and for round 2 they added more detail like wear and smudge spec maps...

It's totally not a 3D printed model. But in a still frame with heavy compression you can make a render convincing.

The other hugely weird thing is that it matches the patent too perfectly and companies basically never put the actual design in the patent.

Is a buttonless monstrosity shaped like the ovals you filled in with #2 pencils during school tests really out of the question with these guys?

It's still good to hear though. I enjoyed MK8 and I really want one on their upcoming console, but it needs to be reasonable. I'm not buying crap.

I think the actual controller won't be a million miles away from this fake. I expect it to be based around a touchscreen although there will be button inputs as well.

It's like waking up from a nightmare.

Now I'm still worried about the guy from GI saying he heard NX wouldn't have face buttons.

All in all, my hype for NX has decreased a little. I was cautiously optimistic, now I'm cautiously on the fence. Next step, cautiously pessimistic.

That'd be a wacky series of events.

When the black one surfaced, I was positive that it was real at that point considering the consistency and lighting. Boy was I wrong.

It could still be real considering Sharp does deliver free form LCD displays to Nintendo and the fake was heavily inspired by a Nintendo patent from a year ago. There's definitely smoke here. But the patent shows an oval display with hand grips.

So, will the real controller be a crazy Nintendo idea in line with Wii and to a lesser extent WiiU, or will it be a more traditional controller that doesn't alienate gamers like WiiU did?
