Hopefully we don't have to wait till the 20th to see Gully.
They can take as long as they want with him. Alex is here and everything except survival mode is good.
Holding Down+back moves him slightly and holding down+forward moves him a bit farther opening up new combos from different ranges.
Neat and now I need to experiment with this.
Just had an ultra gold gief player rage quit at the end of the match, fuck that pisses me off. Woulda earned a lot of points too.
A 3.8K SS Dhalsim ragequit on me too and he wasn't even bad. People quitting against players with 1000 to 3000 LP less than them are truly scummy. They take some serious work to beat and then they ruin everything by quitting.
I know Alex is just doing squats in his win animation, but I like to think it's him aggressively teabagging his opponent. Channeling Jerk Alex's win quotes
He moves like I'd imagine a Gorilla would which makes sense because his SFV version is on some King Kong ish.
I think his win animation looks pretty dumb. So does Mika's; I have no idea what the hell Nadeshiko is doing.
She is providing a template for modders to insert male characters into. Those were some of the best gifs we got out of the game lol.
I only did casuals yesterday but almost everybody stayed for the full set. How's everyone's experience in ranked? Do people stay for the full 2-3 matches often? I feel like I vastly prefer getting the set of 3 and I get a lot more 'game time' since I don't have to wait as long.

I don't really care about points but I guess I should probably try and get out of super bronze someday.
I don't rematch super bronze players and below regardless (also Ryu usually) of the results. The 4K players seem to do the same to me since one win on them netted me over 100 points and they only get 70 for beating me twice. This new matchmaking system is great because I can limit my exposure to problem characters and fight people on or above my level multiple times. Much better than the random 1 fight setup they had before. I think the game would have had a far better start had ranked been implemented like this from the start. Now we just need Capcom to explore the idea of point distribution based on per match achievements (perfects, EX/CA finishes, combo length, etc.) on some level.
Sure thing. I'll edit them in here once I look'm up.

HP: 10 Startup, -3 on block
HK: 17 Startup, -4 on block
F+HP: 10 Startup, 3 on block
c.MP: 7 Startup, -1 on block

Flash Chop:
LP: 13 Startup, -4 on block
MP: 19 Startup, -4 on block
HP: 25 Startup, -4 on block
EX: 11 Startup, -2 on block

Slash Elbow:
LK: Startup 14, -3 on block
MK: Startup 19, -6 on block
HK: Startup 24, -7 on block
EX: Startup 14, -10 on block
Thanks for putting this out there.
Also, thanks for the explanations of "honest" guys... appreciated.
That in mind, who is the most dishonest I could learn to get myself up to gold easily? I'd love to just knock the silver/gold achievements out and not really have much to worry about going forward other than finishing hell/extreme survival at some point.
It takes work to get to gold rank. Ken, Ryu and Birdie can only take you so far.
Depends. I got medium tier back in MvC3 and have been playing fighting games since SF2 was in arcades. My reflexes aren't what they used to be, but I'm not super scrubby (I don't think, at least).

I was just thinking if there's someone I could win with more consistently than Ken, maybe it'd be worth putting a little time in to get the silver/gold league trophies/achievements.
Is there an idiot's guide to being an annoying R. Mika? I have trouble trying to play grapplers... I was thinking of switching from Ken to Ryu just because Ryu has more tools and hits like a bus. Another nail in my "anything to win I guess..." coffin. ;)
Ken is already amazing. You can't do much better than him.
Anyone up for some matches?

Alex mains welcome, need to play against some good ones to get ready for the onslaught in ranked once people feel they are competent.
There are plenty of day 3 Alex players. Don't think there is enough time for there to be good ones.

After maining Mika for two weeks, I'm gonna have to agree with Mike Ross. I'm not sure this is Street Fighter, it's more like Random Bullshit Fighter.

So why is Mika so reviled? I play as her and get as good as I give most of the time - I feel like she's very punishable if you know what you're doing against her.

Whoops, misread the question.

She's all about the mixups. So you have to guess whether or not you need to block or avoid the command grab so people hate the guessing game. She has a lot of control and her pressure is scary. She's not the most fun to fight against, she's fun as hell to play.

We need a good player in this room to challenge Rojo.

You guys should try having Crackpot invite. He's really good. I was getting outclassed and I was feeling some lag (not why I was losing) so I backed out. But yeah, have Crackpot invite.

I feel like I'm OK at footsies compared to the people I play but I make one defensive mistake and I lose 40% but I can't do that as Chun.

Like, I beat the Ken's that randomly heavy DP in my face but struggle against the ones that use cr.mp cr.mp then back off. I shouldn't let them jump in as much

Because one f+MP landing puts you into a really stupid death loop where there is NO safe option. So to a certain extent you can be really low IQ and mash f+MP the entire match until you land one and then boom, you have a chance to win.

Laura is also low IQ, so as was already said don't pay too much attention to Mike's whining. I do look forward to them nerfing the Mika loop. Something so dangerous should not be that simple to initiate, and I'd prefer to see her have more mileage out of her vskill than the whip.

My Ken, for all my hours playing as him, is not a horse nor does he taste of raisins... that is, he is not amazing.

I guess we'll see how the Ryu experiment goes. Already 2-1 and hit Super Bronze, so that's progress, I guess.

That's definitely where I'm at, too. I have to learn to reliably convert a passion press into a rope throw, since her game revolves around that move so much and a single whiff can make everything fall apart. One of these days I'll just spend 10 hours straight in Training mode with the dummy set to Random block and stay in there until my accuracy is near 100%.
Yeah, it’s what I’ve been recommend to do as well. Just go to the lab everyday before your gaming session and do 10 minutes, then once you’re done playing, finish with another 10 minutes. Said it’ll become muscle memory and you’l be hit confirming off a one hit in about a month or so. I hope it works, Ken becomes a lot more dangerous once that part of your game rises up.

Also, Mika is full of crap, but her and laura only destroy you when you don’t know the frame data or don’t have a solid defense. Both of those characters can be zoned out, and really, have to use meter to do anything about a FB but jump over it, Mika can slid as well but it’s risky up close. I feel like Laura and Mika both are really strong at the bottom level, semi-weak mid level, and then, once you get near pro level you can destroy with them.
