Killer Instinct Season 3 |OT| Super Microsoft All-Star Bros for Xbox One & Windows 10

Plan on getting Season 3, but I am wondering if the $39.99 ultra edition is worth an extra $20. That seems to be a lot of money for some accessories.
Also wondering the same thing. Already have Seasons 1 and 2, so the best way to upgrade to full character cast would be to get the Combo Breaker pack, right? The extra $20 for the Ultra just gets me 1 alternate costume for 8 characters, and some meaningless cosmetic extras, unless I'm missing something.

I am not very familier with battletoads i never played before but god damn he us fucking awesome . Even his insulting move is the best. My new main and mskes me want a new battletoad . Kinda like hyper ninja turtles

Yes, that will give you access to all of the characters(excluding Shadow Jago I think). I also have Season 1 and 2 with all of the extras and accessories and I figure I would just go ahead and get it all, but not sure if I want to spend that much. The 18,000 KI coins is like $39.99 itself, so its tempting, but I wonder what would I need them for if I have all of the extras, etc. I think you also get earlier access to future fighters with the $39.99 Ultra Edition. The $20 Edition will probably suffice in all honesty, but I am wondering if I can purchase something later if I do not have it like an alternate costume or accessories. Didn't see an option to do so in the KI store.

My hunger for a new Battletoads has skyrocketed after playing this!

I know the soundtrack already get plenty of love, but damn do I love it. So many great tracks. So many!!
I'm totally in agreement with your opinion of the matchmaking system. People keep saying it's the reset system messing up, though I have been put against people who are in Silver when I probably shouldn't as a scrub.

I mean, you do learn from people above you. However, I don't think you easily learn from people who are so far above you, that you don't even know what you're doing wrong, because the skill gap is just too large. I mean you can defer to other people also at that level to say what you did wrong, but it's probably going to be a rather long list, part of which will be down to total inexperience which sadly comes with time(and practice).

In my case it's probably going to be a long road until I become anything close to decent, I practically have zero 2d fighting game experience.
I do hope folks are right and it is just a temporary issue thanks to the ranking reset. A game with such a great netcode doesn't deserve a matchmaking this bad.

I agree.

I went 3-7 during the qualifier period, which is actually a bit better than I expected. It feels really odd to be back at square 1 with a fighting game after so many years of being decent at Street Fighter. I even warmed up to Guilty Gear quicker than I am in KI so far.

I think I really need to go to the breaker practice and spend an eternity learning how to break every single character. That doesn't sound like all that much fun. I already spent a decent chunk of time in there breaking TJ and Fulgore, but pretty much no one else.

I also am struggling because I don't know when to press buttons. Is there a common/official source for all frame data in the game?

Also, for PC players: Anyone run into an issue where the game just starts running at half the FPS as usual? I was playing and finishing the last 2 dojo combos and out of nowhere I had insane FPS drops. I closed every open program, restarted KI 3 times, and nothing fixed it except for restarting my PC. KI, Windows and my nvidia drivers are all up-to-date.

Edit: Fuck it I bought the Supreme Edition just now, I don't feel like re-learning a new character every week by sticking to the free edition. Hopefully I get my moneys worth out of the game!

Another question: Which character plays closes to M.Bison from SF4/SF5? Not charge, but more like... safe-ish pressure (scissors).
Check out saberwulf, the charge partition in this game like nonexistent. So, saberwulf has great pressure and is a charge character.

Not sure why I didn't just forward the damn Xbox ports. Thought I did but I switched modems last year

Anyway that took care of my crashing during matchmaking issue. Was able to connect to maybe 6 or 7 exhibition matches in a row and a few lobbies before I remembered I have other things I should be doing and not "testing" if the game works. If only I could get a job procrastinating smh

Playing against Shago as Arbiter is a nightmare. At least my trash Arbiter that keeps forgetting half his toolset.

Dear people asking for an official source for frame data:

Its in the game. Go to training mode, turn on attack data. Also view the extremely detailed and helpful command list, which also has explanations on what moves are for, and their frame data.

I can't wait until the bugs are fixed so I can see a proper tournament. While it was cool to see Nino win two(which should have been all 3 ) of Sleep characters where banned.

Why do you make so much sense? :/

Any character that can really stay in Arbiter's face can prove to be a problem. I've been finding that mashing jabs to get the blowout usually gives me enough time to create some space. Bashing a plasma nade over your own head is also a good option to 'reset' things.

My game keeps crashing when I'm matched up with someone after playing a ranked match or two. Has there been any solution or any update by IG on the situation since other people in this thread have been complaining about it too.

EDIT: and either I'm better at this game than I thought, or online players in my region kinda suck since I pretty much bodied a dude whose rank is Master.

Edit2: ok keep getting bodied now. Order is restored.

Thanks, I should have checked before asking, I suppose! In my defense, I'm used to Street Fighter which makes you scour the internet (or buy a guide) for any and all information.

At the same time, I also enjoy looking at frame data and stuff while I'm at work, and it doesn't seem easy to find online (or I'm bad at google).

I keep forgetting to use his df roundhouse as anti air. That button is crazy and I can never remember lol

We also have hitbox viewer available in game. Enjoy.

You can try port forwarding the xbox live ports

http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/networking/network-ports-used-xbox-live

I still disconnect if I end up searching for too long but its much better than what I was dealing with before.

We're too damn accustomed to capcpom bullshit.

God bless Capcom but they really built people up to not expect much lol. Pokken's movelist is pretty similar to this where it gives a description on special moves and what they're useful for. For a 2D fighting game where there aren't 100 moves listed like Tekken I can't see why you could thrown in a small description of what everything is useful for. I was really impressed that I could just go to a character's command list and read actual english words that told me stuff about the character. It's mind-blowingly novel! Between that, hitboxes and in game frame data it's almost like I don't need to have an app open. Wow!

Taking a page from Capcom though, can we get some trials though IG? Some real fucked up demonic shit.

Thanks

KI is about learning the rules and building your own combos. You need to change them frequently, mid match, to avoid becoming predictable and getting combo broken.

As such, I don't feel a trial mode really adds anything to the game.

Tons of amazing combo-video-worthy stuff out there, some practical, some not, but the point is that the exploration is part of the fun in such an open system.

I'm with Keits on this. Finishing the dojo gives you all you need in general considering that each move tells you how it can be used in the command list so you can apply what you learned. You'll be mixing it up to constantly during a match to really have a "set combo" or else your opponent will catch you.

In my opinion, KI isn't like SF with a bunch of strictly-timed, hard-to-execute moves/combos. The difficulty comes when facing an opponent and decided what to use and when (using the right breaker, etc). For that, we already have combo breaker training.

The only argument I would have for it is the fun of executing a bunch of trial combos. I enjoy trial modes, even though I'm not sure if it would necessary help you improve in KI.

An excellent point and thanks for responding. From playing the Dojo I do feel like I have a sense of how I might use Jago, his juggles and corner only options etc. from the few combos you're shown. While I'm not suggesting a character centric full Dojo be made available there's some value for those of us severely lacking in imagination having things spelled out like how to get a re-stand in a combo for example. There does come a point however where "google it." or "check youtube" are completely fine non-dismissive answers though (like now!). Maybe in time I'll grow an imagination. Besides, there's much cooler stuff on the way.

I was thinking of what I could do with Kim Wu and 3 dragons but then I gave up and went back to Hisako. I'm just not that dude sadly.

Watch gamerLCD,Pink Diamond,C88Bloodpretty(UL Maya) and Charlie boy for Kim wu.

Hey Keits if your still around, I got a couple Q's!

- When are Tusk and Kim Wu Shadows going in?

- Can we get colour customization for our Shadows too?

- Will you guys consider doing a funding drive for stages for the rest of the characters that won't/don't have them?

In my opinion, KI isn't like SF with a bunch of strictly-timed, hard-to-execute moves/combos.

Well, until you start trying to implement manuals into your combos at all.

All of the other timings are straight-forward or intuitive enough to be able to grasp pretty easily, but it seems like every manual is unique in every situation, and the only one that's ever pointed out to you timing-wise is that one for Jago in the Dojo.

I feel like this is the only real thing missing from the game's training modes and additional data - something that would point out when you have to press the button to do a manual instead of an auto-double.

I played maybe ten games with someone in unranked, just swapping between characters. He was consistently better, but that particular match-up was totally one-sided in Shago's favor. As far as I could tell, neither of us were on our mains, but YEESH, lol

Woops, you're right. I forgot about manuals!

well trials as for only combos don't add anything, but what about tutorials for use of every character's Instinct, combo traits, and unique tools ? something that teaches new people what is unique about the character is being selected, aside from KI mechanics

you can take some challenges were made for Guilty Gear, where they teach you matchups with basic information about the other character, and also teach concepts like zoning, anti airs, hit confirm, option selects, stuff having a little example that lets you elaborate from there, just to give you the idea

Yeah. I feel it's pretty disappointing that the big bad won't have his own stage.

I just really love their stages, and I want as many as possible, haha. I understand the stages they make take a lot of hard work, and arent necessarily 'needed', but I love them, and I want more even if I have to pay extra. haha.

Same.

Also, I can watch plenty of character breakdowns on YouTube for strategies and concepts. People keep asking for super deep tutorials in-game, but it seems like you quickly hit a point of diminishing returns in terms of development effort that could be spent elsewhere. KI's was great, but is all they really need in the game itself at this point in the game's life.

Hey I spent 20 canadian on the new 8 characters.
i'm really impressed with how they improved the look on every stage.
Really good job on the guys who made this happen.
After playing through a bunch of the revamped stages and playing against the new characters.
I really feel like the developer earned my money this season.
That hard work pays off, excellent job!

Both of my sticks (HRAP 3&4 Hayabusa) doesn't work...but my X360 controller does, thank god.

I'm a bit salty though, I really want to play this with a stick...is Joy2key reliable in this case?

Yeah the game is X-Input only and doesn't work with Xbox One sticks atm. I use Joy2Key for my HRAP V3-SA and it works out okay besides the weird control layout I have to use outside of the actual combat controls.
