If I use an HDMI to connect my tower to the breakout box and then an HDMI to the HMD, how do I also push the feed to the television? Is there a second HDMI output on the breakout box for it?

Don't know how applicable it would be for you, but I have really long cables coming from my computer in another room going out to a living room for when people come over. For this i'm using a displayport to hdmi cable that plugs into a 20 ft HDMI cable going to the breakout box out in the living room along with a long USB cable. I also have a 25 foot HDMI cable going from the HDMI output on the computer to the TV in the living room for specators. I have an optical cable as well for audio (for my wireless headset), but i'm pretty sure you could just mirror the audio to that TV through that HDMI cable using the audio mirroring feature in Steam VR.

Got Ethan Carter "working". Seems like it only works with an xbox controller. The steam controller isn't recognized. And the starting menu is just screwed up for some reason.

The game looks horrible in VR. I have no idea what people have been praising so much. Even at 130% resolution scale, it's blurry as fuck 10 feet away with any AA on. And without AA it's jaggy and shimmery as hell. Seriously, this game is GORGEOUS maxed out on a regular display. It seems to default to settings that seem really really low and cannot be adjusted. Not going to bother playing this in VR unless I can find a way to tweak it. Sigh...

ask 10 different optometrists and you'll get 10 different answers, ranging from "their eyes will shrivel in their eye sockets" to "It'll give them superhuman vision."

In my experience, kids are a-ok with VR headsets.

I think the age limits are more for the kids hurting themselves. Tho if I remember correctly the 3ds didn't want kids under 8 to use the 3d because it could affect development or something. My 9 year old I am sure will be fine with the vive in small sessions.

Odd, my only option was the 2 day business for $30.
Hell yeah, a new May buddy! Welcome to the May club, "May" I interest you in some cookies and milk while we wait?
Maybe something a bit stronger?

I'm having real problems with the heat on my face after 30 minutes or so. Anybody else? It's a real bummer!

Also Xortex is my jam!

That is one thing I was worried about when I heard about how much brighter the screens were on the Vive as compared to the Rift. They are driving those screens much harder. I hope this doesn't become an issue. 30 minutes isn't much considering I'd spend hours in elite dangerous with the dk2.

This may interest you.

EDIT: I can also assure you that over time you will acclimate to the temperature. Your body will adapt. It shouldn't take long either. As someone who trains in extreme temperatures for my health I can give you some tips on adapting faster. If you want, PM me and I will give you a routine to try.

I never even got the option to change the shipping.

Audioshield is a great party game. The design of the shields, the haptics and the effects make the whole thing so damn immersive. Wish they had more gameplay variations though.

I highly recommend puzzle lovers to check out Light Repair Team #4. If you like Talos principle, this will totally be up your alley. It's a cool idea and they've nailed the scale. Looks very clean and pleasing too! I love the feeling of having to move, bend, even lie down to get the right angles.

Looking forward to irrational exuberance. The free prologue was quite mesmerizing, like the blu.

I actually gasped and looked around for cover when I accidentally dropped a grenade right next to me in Hotdogs, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades. And man, those weapons look so realistic! Haven't seen models and materials looking that good even in regular games!

I must say, this is the best launch lineup I've ever witnessed. No big AAA titles, but there is so much quality in here regardless. A lot of unique titles standing out!

And I haven't even played the crowd favorites yet, like The Gallery, Xortex, Hover Junkers, Space Pirate Trainer or Job Simulator. Saving the best for last, I guess? ;)

Been playing without glasses or lenses (-1.75/-2.75) for the past 2 days and I've not noticed any blurriness at all. People with prescription in the range or below should definitely try it without glasses first before deeming it necessary.

The Vive arrived this week while I was on a trip, so I didn't have a chance to try it out yet. Unpacking and setting up the Rift CV is similar to the DK versions, just more user friendly and everything feels like a very polished experience. Setting up the Rift feels like you're setting up a new monitor that comes with some calibration software. I'm just starting with the Vive, but it feels more like setting up a screen and a 5.1 system in terms complexity. Very impressive, but also a bit intimidating. I mean, just look at the box; it's huge!

edit: I'll try to post some impressions this weekend on how the Vive and Rift compare in terms of gaming, but getting the Vive up and running will take some time.

Ain't that the truth! I haven't felt this antsy waiting for new gaming hardware since after I ordered the parts for my first gaming PC.

I can sympathize, I thought I was over the worst of it after going through the hell that was the dk1 wait (especially with that delay), but nope, each time a new vr headset comes out the anticipation is always there. I'd say the Vive occupies a more rarefied place though in terms of hype, room scale is a helluva drug.

This is great news. I'm only like a 1.50 I believe

It really, really doesn't help that I've had multiple experiences at conventions with the Oculus Rift DK1 through CV1 and the Playstation VR, but nothing with the Vive. It's completely uncharted for me. It'll be intense; my first experience with consumer VR, at home, will be with a device I've never had any experience with. Excited doesn't begin to explain it.

+1 for both of these - I've really enjoyed my time with Light Repair Team #4, and the visuals of Hotdogs, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades are some of my favorite on the vive. The developer made his own PBR shader set for Unity and it looks ridiculously good compared to the standard shaders that unity uses.

The shock and awe of the first experience with the Vive (if everything is functioning correctly) will be one you never forget.

Yeah I was just echoing what others have said, I haven't tried it before either, and that unknown of what high presence with tracked controllers is like, I just can't fathom it outside of all the reports here and abroad. Krej's post today comparing it to the Dreamcast launch in terms of impact just made the wait all the more difficult, and seeing various impressions compare it to the first joys of gaming from childhood adds even MORE hype. This train don't stop!

y'all should be ashamed
I've never experienced VR before sans Google Cardboard; I had a chance to try the old Oculus (the first gen version it looked like) back in October but I didn't want to dampen my experience of trying consumer VR so I passed. Should be able to crack this open on Saturday (I'm setting up my new computer tomorrow). Oh man oh man!

That's how it was for me. The only prior experience I had was that shark demo for PSVR at PSX. That too the very first iteration!

This is light years ahead.

Dude. If this is your first true VR experience ever your brain will probably explode once the headset is on your head.

Yeah, it will my first time ever as well. I haven't tried anything like it unless you count the 3ds or Imax lol. I am trying to temper my expectations. It's weird though because atm I am more excited to show it to family and friends than I am experiencing it myself... Although that might change once I get it on.

hey guys how do you get the headset to stay put when looking down (say, 170-degrees)? Mine likes to shift around a bit which is pretty obnoxious in games like fantastic contraption. Do i just need to keep fiddling with the straps or is there some ingenious method..

Setting up the Vive was easier than I thought going in, I just put the lighthouse units on stacks of books; I'll mount them properly to the walls this weekend, but they already work flawlessly.

Tried some games on Steam and after a few rounds of Audioshield, I can safely say that the game is my personal killer app for the Vive right now. The Budget Cuts demo is fantastic as well.

I never used a Pre unit, so this is my first time trying the controllers. Roomscale VR, the Chaperone mode and those two controllers work so much better than I expected. The build quality of the headset doesn't feel as high-end compared to the Rift (the Vive is heavier, less comfortable and doesn't offer as many options for adjusting the fit), but the image quality is at least as good (I can still see a slight sceendoor effect on both headsets, but the Vive has a sharper image and no ghosting issues for me).

Oculus really needs to get the Touch controllers into early adopter's hands quickly; imo, the Vive feels like the next step in VR while the Rift is a polished evolution of the DK1/2.
