Watch the Titanic sink in real time (2h 40m)

From "Titanic: Honor & Glory" game.

The video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rs9w5bgtJC8

Long video obviously but very eerie. Highlight of the game will be the most detailed and accurate virtual Titanic ship ever created (with UE4 engine). Supposedly, the whole interior of the ship will be fully rendered and explorable, down to the tiniest details, once the project is finished. The team also seems obsessed with the material and do a lot of research so they are trying to make it as accurate looking as possible. Now, imagine exploring the whole ship as it's sinking in real time. Using a VR device.

There's also a playable demo on the site where you can explore a small fraction of the ship (around 3% of it) and it looks INSANE.

I've been seeing this pop up for literal years. I appreciate the scope of the project, but it kind of feels like they're never going to finish.

Definitely going to grab that demo though. The work they've done so far is incredible.

...where is that RMS dude with a ship avatar that complained that the Titanic movie was not accurate because they got some insanely small details of the ship wrong ?

He will like this

I wonder why publishers don't fight each other to grab this. Is it the material? Or is it that the team wants to take their sweet time with it? Maybe they want 100% creative freedom as well?

Going by all the conversations I've had with that dude back in Smash Bros IRC chat days... he'd probably just find some minute inaccuracies in this and hate it as well.

They're afraid. The bar for Titantic games has been set too high.

Rescue came 1 hr 45 minutes after it sank. imho that's quite a quick response time for the middle of the atlantic. certainly those survivors wasted less time than i did watching that shitty film
So, morality choices?
Could actually be really interesting setting for a Last Express style game.

I played the demo these guys put out and even just that small slice was really impressive. Really looking forward to the finished product, whenever that happens.

So the actual sinking was shorter than the movie

Well yeah, there's a lot of exposition before that happens.

People died on that ship.

I know you're trolling, but I also want to add that asking for WW1 and WW2 and Vietnam games, we're asking for games were millions of people died and even more were left with life long trauma.

I'm glad this exists. It's kind of a virtual museum. Very cool.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
So wait, you explore it as it's sinking?

According to the devs, it's going to be a mystery solving game of some sort. It will definitely take place as the ship is sinking in real time but i bet this will be more like the second half of the game, first being before the event.

They also said there will be a free roaming mode where you can freely explore the whole ship as it sinks, without being restricted by the single player campaign.

Should have based it on the The Andrea Doria, longer play time.

It eased into the water like an old man into a nice warm bath.

Edit: Oops, some reason I got the impression it was a VR title (skimming and saw the word virtual). I'd still be interested, just not as much (honestly just being able to walk around the Titanic as it sank I think would make a very interesting VR experience. So would a lot of other disasters too honestly).

I was going to make a joke about this taking longer than the movie, but goddamn Cameron's Titanic is 3 hrs and 20 minutes long?! Wow.

That said, here's hoping the "gameplay elements" and the NPC and A.I. is good in this game. That could really hinder the experience.

Even if the game is trash, seeing this animation is absolutely fascinating. It goes really, really slow, but towards the end I'm surprised how fast it actually goes. I can only imagine what a VR experience would be like.

But it will be VR compatible.

Whenever I go to my cousins house, I always see their copy of Titanic on VHS with the two tape case randomly on their shelf.

They need to duct tape VR to a treadmill or something.

'Cause I think running from the Vesuvius eruption would raise my heart rate a bit.

Or, y'know, a T Rex.

A T Rex during Vesuvius.
