Microsoft Ending Xbox 360 Production

Behold: the evolution from "cool, distinctive, attractive interface" to "every generic media center interface ever".

Still love the console and everything, but man, what I wouldn't give to have those blades back...

Sad fact, the tile size ratios are ad standard friendly.

Still have my 360 hooked up and play it regularly. So many great games. Hardware issues aside, probably my favorite console in over 30 years of gaming.

While the 360 had some great games, I'll mainly remember the 360 for Xbox live itself and how it changed online gaming and indeed the type of games we play, forever. PSN was a joke in comparison.
Unfortunately it never maintained its momentum for me and half way through the cycle you could easily predict the slate every year.

XBLA was one of the best things.

Trials, Shadow Complex, Lara Croft, Limbo etc. It was a new slice of gaming. I guess too many games get released for Summer of Arcade to exist now fighting for promotion but it was usually a great event with something taking your fancy and demos, don't think I would have bought so many without them.

Fuck the PS4K, I'm gonna get a sealed Xbox 360 and keep it in the closet when my current one dies.

Bought an arcade console in 2008, and man, had the best time ever back in 2009. It's sitting there now, almost unused, but I still do some Rock Band 3 and some of my old XBLA library. :)

Today is the end of an era RIP Xbox 360 I have a ton of amazing memories with that console it had such an incredible amount of games, Halo 3, CoD 4, GTA IV, Gears of War, Xbox Live, XBLA etc I will always remember it as one of the greatest consoles of all time, I had a blast playing with all my Xbox Live friends

One of (if not) my favorite consoles, up there with the original Playstation and the SNES.

Was gifted a 360 thru a friend, after it red ringed. Was able to bring it back to life for about a year, before the original Bioshock "permanently killed it". Ended up buying a 360 Arcade which was my only console until winning an Xbox One thru the Dorito's/Mt. Dew auctions. Will have to pick up a Xbox 360 E now for any digital titles that I own that don't come to Xbox One backwards compatibility.

Farewell 360. It was a great decade.

So, no Forza Horizon 360 confirmed this year?

I never owned one, but as a PlayStation owner you can't help but wonder where the brand would be had it not been for Microsoft's innovation with the 360.

Now just bring back mandated demos.

This reminded me I still need to "upgrade" to a slim model (the one with all the ports, not the HDMI-only).

One of the best consoles ever. That feeling when you discover Xbox Live... fantastic.

Basically defined my friendships in secondary school, bonding with people either through local co-op - my brother and I played a lot of games through splitscreen - or online through xbox live. So many hours of goofing around in Halo's Forge mode, campaigning in new releases, and just generally socialising when I was often far too shy for such at school. I scarcely touched the PS3 at all with just how much I grew comfortable with the 360.

So long, and thanks for all the fun.

I bought an used 360 at a yard sale it RROD'ed within 6 months.

I then bought an 360 Elite and it hasn't had a problem since then.

I didn't have too many memories on the 360 -- but I did have a lot of fun with XBLA games like Shadow Complex, Joy Ride Turbo, 'Splosion Man and Trials HD.

I enjoyed playing Gears of War 1 -3 on there and enjoyed COD 4 and Dead Rising. Also, their JRPG lineup was vastly underrated and I loved the Cave shmups that I imported too.

I guess I'll get a Live subscription and try to 1000/1000 G COD 4, Gears 1 - 3, Dark Sector and Stranglehold before Microsoft puts down Live on 360.

Best GIF for this moment.

I still remember picking this up in November of 2005, the best game system I ever owned in regards to exclusives and online gaming.

How much does a brand new Xbox 360 cost now?

Why would Microsoft want people buying 360. There are no more releases coming. Anyone buys 360 for 100 bucks would be buying used games. If MS isnt making significant profit at that price its pointless. Probably not many new XBL subs would come from it either. 100 bucks just takes attention away from XBO for a short time with zero gains.

Good night 360, you made your predecessor proud and you made my teenage years go by with glee. Even though I'm on my fourth one, I still loved the console.

Got a 360 with Bioshock and my first HDTV in 2007. I was worried about my system failing on me, but it lasted six years without ever dying. It's packed away in storage now, happily retired.

A bit early.

More facts:
It will never reach 90 million. And it's still on last place in its generation if you look at "units sold worldwide".

Too cool for school man.

On topic: Funny but today my son took a sudden urge to play the 360 rather than XB1.

My first HD console got it with Kameo and perfect dark zero on my first HD ready tv and i was blown away and this was before PC got the upper hand again but i played lots and lots of hours on it. Modern Warfare was my most played shooter, assassin's creed was new and different played the hell out of Gears of War 1,2 and 3 also buying Mass Effect and a bunch more.

Had 1 RROD but good thing you can ship it for free in EU to fix it and it is was free also. Lost also countless of hours playing Red Dead Redemption in single and multiplayer..played every Need for Speed game on it.

Also great controller still to date one of the best on PC also now i have Xbox one controller on PC but still that controller redefined of how a controller should be.

Reminds me that I never got to try that cool open world zombie game that came out on xbla

I have no interest in a one, but I never got it on 360 before I traded up to PS4

Also really really miss left 4 dead. Probably my favorite game on 360 and most hours in a game after Minecraft.

Would kill for a left 4 dead collection on PS4

My fondest memories are either the first time I saw a brick wall in PDZero (that detail) or playing the call of duty 2 campaign on veteran for my first achievements

Best console ever made.

I really hope they can somehow migrate the Live servers for 360 over to Azure. Online is way too intrinsic to the console for it to ever shut off.

Better than alot this generation too. Microsoft should of never moved away from mandatory demos of digital titles. It allowed people to make more informed choices.

omg yes this. It was the biggest disappointment for me about getting my X1. I was looking forward to all of the demos, and while there were a few, it wasn't like last time =(

Over 5000 digital-exclusive games (including XBLIG) and you can try them all out without spending a dime.

Don't forget RROD.

I forgot RROD a long time ago, as we well should have. Had 3 free repairs on 2 different consoles, many years ago. Both are still running to this day. Yes, they messed up, but they did as well as they could have after admitting the mistake, repairing them all for $0.

Loved the 360. Only down side to me was they came out of the gate hot with some exclusive JRPGs in North America in Vesperia, Infinite Undiscovery, Magna Carta 2, The Last Remnant, and after that... really not many, if any at all.

Still have the one I bought at launch.
Actually on day -2 since my retailer was kind enough to break street date for me.

Yep, it did RROD once, repaired and still going strong.
