Rumor: "Untitled Spiderman PS4 Project" incoming

Hiiiiighly doubt Sucker Punch is doing this. I wouldn't even put any stock in that.

That said yes, give me spidey with awesome swing controls, fluid combat and proper stealth missions.

Also integrate those 3 together in a seamless way. I want to be able to employ hit and run tactics by zipping around in my webs, punching fools. I want to get overwhelmed and immediately find a place to hide, preferring to take out foes one by one now that I know I'm being overpowered. I want to quickly run away from a situation and think from a safe distance my next move.

I feel like the core of spideys skillset would be action, stealth and webswinging and marrying those 3 together where you can seamlessly move between any of the 3 would make for the most compelling Spidey game yet.

At any rate, I hope someone at Marvel and DC wakes up and realizes how they're wasting millions by not making decent games on superheroes (except Batman Arkham). It's almost inexplicable at this point, with comic book movies & TV shows at their height.

VR probably.

A Spider-man web shooting game using the Wii remote was always being requested back in the day.Considering plenty of VR games seem to use very similar mechanics to Wii games, I could see a first person webslinging experience using move controllers being made.

If it's a tie-in for a movie (for which Sony owns the IP), I was wondering if Activision's deal would hold?
I don't think we've seen Spiderman movies tie ins from Activision? But I could be mistaken.

If real (long shot), Sucker Punch adapting Infamous to a Spiderman game would be great... potentially.
They have literally made tie-ins for every Spider-Man film...
I get that but... You're missing my point. They don't fund games that they don't control the IP for.
They do, and it's different since Sunset Overdrive was a brand-new IP, rather than an existing one.

Not sure how I feel about Sucker Punch being thrown around as the goto developer for Spidey games. I do agree, inFAMOUS 2nd Son was good in terms of gameplay but the rest was pretty ... boring. The story was okay but the side quests were boring and the map looked nice but every 2nd block looked the same. They'd have to step up their game tenfold if they want to have a good open world environment.

Activision still owns the Spider-Man IP for gaming. And it makes no sense for Sony to work on it when they consistently want to own IP's for games they fund.

Disney/Marvel owns the Spidey IP for games. Activision has a contract with Sony Pictures that allows them to do movie tie-ins through 2017. The last studio that did Spidey games (Beenox) confirmed they are no longer working on any Spidey titles so could be that Activision called it a day early.

They could be developing it. It's no coincidence that we've heard similar rumblings about Crash.

Between Destiny and now the CoD deal, Sony's relationship with Activision has never been stronger.

Who said this would be?

Activision only holds the movie game license, and there's no way Disney would allow something meant to promote an upcoming movie to be platform restricted, there's little benefit for them.

Destiny x Green Lantern Corps......Take my Money!

Create your character as a member of the corp. The ghost can be Kilowog or what ever senior Green Lantern instructor. The evil is a spreading Parallax. Fly around the universe and keep it safe. Use your imagination and it could work?

As I posted in the other thread, Sony doesn't really publish games they don't own the IP for. I'm not sure why they'd do this?
Relax dude it is not set in stone that is what they do. Maybe spiderman which is a known quantity is worth it for them to not worry about owning the ip.

If this is made by Sucker Punch, I will lose my shit.

This alongside the Marvel Spider man movie and animated film would be so perfect. I neeeeeeed it.

Who said this would be?

Well, the rumor claims that Sony is working on it rather than it being a PS4 exclusive. It's one thing for it to be exclusive while another non-Sony studios developers it, and it's another for it to be handled by a Sony studio. It would be a waste for Sony to put one of their own studios on a licensed game.

time to take my meds
Sucker punch and spiderman makes too much sense.

But i think i would rather have infamous 4 with a spiderman like super power.

I get that but... You're missing my point. They don't fund games that they don't control the IP for.

They will make deals with third-parties, games like Street Fighter V and Haze have happened where they think it will fill a gap.

IP ownership seems to be when they fully fund a first-party game, I doubt Sony paid for all of the development of either of those above (or a Spiderman game) which is where the difference is.

Probably be next to impossible to wrestle the Street Fighter V IP off Capcom

Eh, I would use Infamous and Infamous 2 as a representation of what they can do. Second Son seemed rushed.

All I can think about is that GIF of Spider Man failing to rescue that woman from the burning building because of a failed QTE. Belly flops right onto the floor as the woman gasps in disbelief and the building proceeds to explode lol.

I'd vomit.

Literally vomit as in the momentum feel of swinging would make me throw up.
Would still play it.

All this "activision has the rights still"
Where are you guys in the "Crashbandicoot" threads?

I mean, that's a pretty different situation. Activision owns Crash outright. Activision has a very specific license to Spidey now, specifically the movie games, which is why for instance, when a shitload of Marvel games got removed from digital stores a couple years ago, the only Activision ones that stayed up were The Amazing ones.

At this point Spidey-movie license is the only one that hasn't reverted back to Marvel's full control by now. They changed policies pretty heavily when they got bought by Disney.
