If there is a full Animal Crossing game on mobile with microtransactions , constant updates, etc. There is no need for a 40$ or 60$ boxed Animal Crossing anymore.

Yep these two IPs fit. You can totally make a micro Animal Crossing and it WILL make bank if they give you stuff to do with friends. I'm curious what FE will be.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much

That's exactly why it won't happen for the foreseeable future. Nintendo want that $60 from core players as well as the micro transaction money from mobile-only players. That's why this mobile expansion is happening.

You only have to look at Miitomo to see how cut down it is compared to Tomodachi Life. It's not designed to replace their traditional offerings.

Please do not fuck up FE on mobile, this is a chance for greatness. Animal Crossing is also a good choice, both could be huge.

Sensible choices, but I don't have any hope that it will be the same quality as the handheld versions.

Unless its straight ports of the 3DS games but with (worse) touch screen controls I am expecting Final Fantasy: All the Bravest types of games.

A Fire Emblem game where you can build an army out of units from the entire franchise (with the usual gacha gambling system) is something I can see happening and probably get suckered into.

Animal Crossing... dunno how they will handle that one. Doubt you can actually walk around your village either way.

Well, if Miitomo is under performing and they need titles that'll definitely have a good sized audience who'll happily pay for extras in them, they've chosen the two right franchises to go with.

Those are two perfect IPs for mobile. If Nintendo designs the monetization in a non disgusting way, I can see me spending $40 in each.

Gatcha collectathon where whaeles will subsidize the game for everybody else.

they have said that miitomo hasnt worked as they planned.

and why settle for a 60 $ game when you can charge more on a average on a mobile game

Well, at least some Nintendo games to play this year. Wait, They are coming this year, right? They have this under control, right? Not like Miitomo, Zelda, NX and everything else ...

Also, it's good to know where Nintendo puts its priorities these days.

Maturity, bitches.
Animal Crossing with a steady stream of updates is good.
But I don't really want the future of the series to be held back by the f2p model (highly doubt Nintendo will put a high priced mobile title out).
Hopefully this is a supplement/side title and an NX version is also in the works for those who prefer the more traditional model.
(That and my smart device battery already dies too quickly as is)

My god, this is a really good choice. A "lite" version pf Animal Crossing for mobile with in-app purchase will be huge for N.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
Really looking forward to playing Fire Emblem.

Business side, wonder how they will monetize - maps? deaths?

Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem should work great on mobile. Hope they're not doing the usual F2P poops.

AC makes absolute perfect sense. Make it a deeper and AC themed miitomo and watch it print money.

I'm interested to hear what the FE game will actually be. Would not be shocked it all if it was just a straight up digital version of their cipher card game, as opposed to the mobile strategy gatcha people are expecting.

Question: Will they be games? Miitomo is a social networking app, not a game. Will theses be games, and if so would they be their first mobile games?

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.

IIRC everything past Miitomo this year is supposed to be a game. Miitomo was the first thing they could get out in a short time period.

Is the Pokémon GO cycle going to repeat here, where people expect these to be Nintendo-tier apps, and then when it turns out they're mobile-tier, people are going to be super disappointed?

I mean, it would be great for them to be quality games, but I'm really not expecting anything out of them.

Remember guys, these (probably) aren't going to be full-fledged games. :p

This guy gets it.

Two of my favorite Nintendo IPs. Animal Crossing is a perfect fit for mobile. Really looking forward to hearing more about these.

I have my doubts that Fire Emblem on mobile will be a conventional Fire Emblem game, but it's a top-three Nintendo IP for me and the one best suited for the limitations of a mobile UI, so I'll be keeping my eyes open. Pokémon Go is probably the right analogy, though. There is still value in retaining the premium strategy series as is, using the mobile product as a tie-in and a hook.

Animal Crossing is an excellent fit and has plenty of room to vary the formula from the series on dedicated platforms, much like how Happy Home Designer already explored a point of divergence.

The Fire Emblem game could be like another gacha game called Phantom of the Kill. Hopefully better optimized at least.

Could work. I can also see it being some kind of card game though.

yeah I think it would be more like the spinoffs than the main title for AC. FE? I have no idea,

I think (or rather hope) that the Fire Emblem game will be a remake of a previous game or a gaiden game similar to how Thracia 776 was a gaiden game for Genealogy of the Holy War.

It could be something else entirely, though.
