This is Nintendo's worst generation and one of Sony's finest, so I'm not exactly sure why this should come as news to anyone.

Yeah I think the only news here is how well the network related sales are doing. But overall sales for Sony vs Nintendo are the least you'd expect considering Nintendo and Sony's respective success in the console market at the moment.

Margins are much better for Sony accounting for FX impact though (Sony count FX towards operating income/loss, Nintendo does not).

So looks like they want PSVue to become a thing as well as PSN overall. Maybe they could start selling Music on PSN as well as Videos like Itunes.

Or does the music industry just do business with Itunes as the pioneers?

4-5 more years of this and Sony should be the healthy nimble company Kaz stated they would become. Good job righting the ship, happy to see a gamer CEO do it.

PS4 bundled with games is $350 here. So I expect a standalone model for $250 when PS4K comes in at $400 again. I think they would hit the target of selling 18 mil units again with those two models on the market, but they really have to nail the PS4K marketing, another February event maybe in order?

Well done to them. Question is will Nintendo start charging for online multiplayer with the NX...?
I hope not but I wouldn't put it past them with the new management and all. I'll only bite if they get their shit together with their network and have some kind of bonus.

I might be mistaken, but it seems like they might have an agreement or partnership with Spotify(?)

Sony should really rethink forced subscription for online play, PSN is obviously big enough to generate profit without it now and as much as it increase their profit, it's also driving some users away on the long run, the same goes for MS.

It's pretty obvious that the paid system is working for them and they are making a ton of money out of it. No chance in hell they will offer free online like with the PS3.

Of course they are investing in the network, like everyone else on the planet who runs one, even(?) the free ones like Steam and Nintendo. People keep posting/suggesting they are charging for online to improve the Network. Question was, do they invest the PS Plus money in improving the network or is that mostly for simply getting more income/buying licensing for PS Plus lineup etc

Common sense says its for all three, it's not very complicated.

not sure it's good to limit yourself. Why not have Apple Music, Google Music, Tidal and be platform agnostic?

Unless Spotify is giving them a good cut or something, PS music is a free app through Spotify, It's basically just PS marketing.
