Amazing. WW1 is essentially the launching point for modern warfare, as well as the end of traditional warfare. Such a varied and intriguing war.

Shameless plug for Dan Carlin's coverage of WW1 in his Hardcore History Podcast (it's something like 10 hours long).
I recommend everyone listen to that. It's fantastic.

No. BF1 and CoD:IW will sale 15M+ each. Everybody is happy because that means they can go back to past real wars and not suffer in sales. Which means less works because they don't need to come up with any weapons, enemies or locations. I'm not sure who you think is still making FPS games that will suddenly shift to be past wars themed.

The problem with AAA FPS games will remain them being mostly military focused which means yet again zero creativity with the arsenal, how weapons behave, unique gunplay mechanics, secondary fires etc. And yet again zero creativity with enemy types and variety - everybody is a human with the same boring weapons and maybe a helicopter.
To be fair, the goldmine with past wars are the many untold stories to tell and the unique fronts. Not the "enemy types"

Reserving judgement for actual gameplay, that reveal was verrrrrry meh for me. I love BF so I'll probably get it anyway though.

Knights?

DICE borrowed CoD's Juggernaut

This is so hype. If they deliver on the destruction (and it isn't just dumb canned BS) I'll be there day zero.

I really liked the remix of Seven Nation Army as well. Then again anything will sound good after that COD trailer....

So they have three cosmetic/gear packs listed, and one of them lists that it comes with early access to a map.

I think they're not selling map packs?

Hope not, I kind of got burned with the dlc because the majority of BF players didn't buy premium, so I had less opportunities to play maps outside of the base package. I would assume they'll have something to sell like weaponry and cosmetic items in exchange.

Good if true, community will no longer be split like before

Yes, WW1 setting! I'm really interested to see how the campaign will look like.

Also no words on the (inevitable) Premium Edition to get all the "optional" DLC?
Thank god.

They must change that Premium model.... should... but honestly I don't think they will...
Sooner or later they'll drop the news, and thus the community shall split once again.

You can see debris from the left-side of the crumbling structure 20 seconds into the trailer disappear.

Pre-order cancelled.

Earth-shattering Intuitive Destruction - With intuitive destruction no battle is ever the same. Destroy vehicles big and small, and demolish entire buildings. From tiny wooden houses to massive stone forts, even the grounds on which you're fighting can be blasted apart.
- War Stories from the Far Edges of the World - Discover a world at war through an adventure-filled campaign that captures the variety of a global conflict through the eyes of several different characters all united by this first modern war.

So does this mean everything is destructible, or just more marketing buzzwords? I mean this description could be used for just about any BF that's had destruction...

Any more details on this?

WW1 was one of the last major conflicts where medieval armors [more comonly only chest pieces] were used as protection.
The germans used the armor a lot for their mg nests. But of course we got a dude on foot wearing armor and charging like a juggernaut.

Thank god we're getting a World War 1 one, finally. I might actually get this. I find modern warfare games really tedious. They all look the same as well. A Battlefield game set in WW1 is sure to look and sound absolutely phenomenal. I'm in. Maybe. Burnt by Battlefront (Beta was great fun, main game felt massively unbalanced with stupid weapons that should never have been in there like Homing Shot).

Surely the setting means we won't have any daft homing missiles, and keep it at the basics. That's where I find these games most fun, a simple set of weapons and that's you.

Cool, thanks.

Just for curiosity sake, what's up with Hardline?

It's just wrong... it's wrong! /cartman voice

Too much to cover to be honest. But just take people's advice. BF4 is the real deal, and still the best shooter this gen to date with TitanFall up there too. But BF4 has a ton of content and support.

The tone of that trailer, the music rendition and the setting oh how I view WW1 are on polar opposites. Like WW2 is a setting that usually has an air of respect levied to it. Maybe they were just following hollywoods queue there. But to go all out "war f-yea!" For WW1 is bizarre to me.

It doesn't bother me in a COD or a fake conflict. But when you do this for a real event it bugs me

Bad music choice (should have used an acoustic song or something) but the game looks awesome. Can't wait to see gameplay.

Someone tweet DICE to use more fitting music for their next trailers, please.

I don't think they could have picked worse music for that trailer if they tried.

white stripes bad music? god you people have horrible taste in music
