I always wondered why there was never a WWI movie at the level of Saving Private Ryan. Pretty refreshing to see something new in games or media in general.

You should listen to Dan Carlin's Blueprint for Armageddon. Or don't if you don't want to feel miserable about it.

Also if people are going to be angry for media that glorifies horrible shit where were you when Sam Fisher was glorifying torture.

I think he's mistaken. He made it sound like modern guns have lock on built in because they are modern. When in reality it's just a game mechanic that's used regardless of what era the gun is from.

There was no glory in this war. No thrilling action or daring do, no heroes and villains, this was mass murder, a scar on the history of our species, and every single person involved in it was a victim.

This trailer, the entire concept of this game, makes me feel physically sick, and just so fucking angry.

How fucking dare anyone make a game like this about the First World War.

I don't know what's worse, the sick fucking emotionless, greedy cunts that would seriously exploit this horror of an industrialised massacre, or the ignorant, soulless bastards that will give them money and enjoy it.

Anyone involved in this, or seriously think of buying this, should be ashamed of themselves.

I have to say I'm excited for the setting and the gameplay it brings. Nice to know later in the year that we'll have Modern Warfare remastered and a WW1 Battlefield. Good breather from a lot of the futuristic combat.

I also have relatives that died in the resistance of WW2 in Denmark, but I still like WW2 theme. It's interesting and you shouldn't calm down. There is no one left that fought in WW1, so it ain't disturbed for them or anything. I think you are overreacting. Did you have the same reaction when the WW2 video game Rush was at its peak?

I am sorry but I don't see how drawing a line in the sand with this game works. It was an atrocious war, but they all are. If you have an issue with violence in video games, that's one issue, but to take up the banner against this one conflict doesn't make sense. Do you think the Vietnamese or Americans shouldn't have been upset about BF Vietnam? Is WWII not in a way shameful for the Germans? Yet we played the crap out of that. If you are taking a moral stand against war games in general, I understand, but taking up the rallying charge against only this is selfish and completely degrades your argument.

But if you are going to cry foul to this, cry foul to the whole industry, for everyone that would be effected, not just your own. This war is unique in scale only. Time will tell if they've handled this properly. It's clear from this thread that there's plenty of misinformation about this war, and the game has probably already resulted in more people going out to learn about i than anything else. Wouldn't reminding the public of the atrocities do more good than harm? Besides reminding you how shameful it makes you of your countries history?

They talk about Weapons, Vehicles, and more.

Talks about classes and how as a Pilot class, the plane is your primary weapon. Not sure how literal you take that, but interesting.

In regard to the setting, this trailer shows nothing of the storyline. It may be a very sober depiction.

In regard to whether gameplay will look like that or not, I played BF4 and Battlefront after seeing their promotional videos and I think they made it pretty well and I do believe they'll make it to their goal with this. Yes, even on Xbox One, although at 720p for 60fps, which I'm totally cool with. I really love the aesthetics of the Frostbyte engine.

In regard to them taunting the CoD guys... Well, they weren't wrong.

So if a film studio makes a movie based on the events that happened in WW1 its fine. Or an author writes a book on the subject thats considered fine too. But now a video game is being made and it's not ok? Pull your head out of your ass mate. It's part of world history. Past world events like these need to be told and remembered so future generations don't repeat such atrocities. It's up to the creative designers on how they decide to portray events.

Well color me very surprised by this turn of events. Was not expecting a WW1 setting but I haven't paid too much to AAA FPS shooters in the last couple of years. It is certainly not a war visited by video games much and let alone by a huge studio and publisher.

I'm hoping they treat the single player with care as we could get something really special. The horrors of this war are hard to imagine in this day and age. Seeing them adapt trench warfare doesn't excite me for the gameplay but the kind of story, events and characters they could cover both horror and heroism.

The talk of major real time damage to the environment alone excites me the most above even the setting. If we have near large scale destruction on a level granular enough that we can cope away at cover to taking out an entire building to take out enemies then count me in! Some of the most fun I had last gen was Red Faction Guerilla. If this can match or outdo this game I may buy my first AAA FPS in years!

Other than that I think I saw mustard gas and that's fucking scary. Also the Harlem Hell Fighters!

Edit: How did I forget to mention Lawrence of Arabia! Oh man one of my favorite films and one of the most interesting historical figures to me!

I have Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition preordered essentially just for Call of Duty 4 Remastered. I'm thinking right now I'm going to cancel that and put thay $5 on Battlefield 1 Early Enlister Edition.

After seeing what the game is all about I really lost all excited for COD4R. I'll definitely buy it if and when it gets sold by itself, but I'm only spending $64 once this fall.

Now of BF1 ends up not having a server browser and server renting I may reconsider.
