The content self was always worth it. But after a month alot of servers with dlc maps are dead and alot of people go back again to vanilla. Wich is such a shame always.
I really thought they were going to do free maps. That would hurt CoD so bad.
Yeah wouldn't it be nice to have free stuff. Who cares how DICE makes money, give me free stuff!
sarcasm
Fuck. They had one chance. The premium/season pass model of new maps needs to go, it never works.
Course it works, they make a ton of money off of it, that's all they care
Shit ton of money to be earned with skins, camo's, battlepacks etc. Halo 5 showed that.
...Just dont split the userbase.
How is the coloring done for this and for the videos of that era?
For Conquest Large and Small at least you can find full servers for any map set. I know it's not as easy when you break out to other game types.Obviously it makes money, but that's obviously not what I meant. Trying to find games for the different DLC maps and modes in BF4 is infuriating sometimes.
Hardcore is a barren wasteland of Vanilla unfortunately. For Conquest Large and Small at least you can find full servers for any map set. I know it's not as easy when you break out to other game types.
BF4 always felt really unbalanced on hardcore mode to me but I understand the appeal. And yeah it's weird how it's mostly DLC servers that have hardcore running.Hardcore is a barren wasteland of Vanilla unfortunately.
:'(RIP the dream.

EA sure as fuck is not letting them leave millions of dollars on the table. Expecting no premium pass was extremely unrealistic considering the publisher.:'(
It would have been the ultimate "fuck you" to Call of Duty. It would have been the PS4 E3 all over again.
Maps gotta be free. Fragmented user base makes me cry everytime when using the server browser 😭
I heard from someone that one of the DLCs in development for Battlefield 1 has dinosaurs.
Nice work! I know for that photo in particular the colours are rather obvious, but do you know how much research goes into colourisations like these? For things like military badges I can imagine finding what colour to use to remain accurate somewhat of a hassle compared to commonly known things like uniform colours.I do this from time to time. Here's one that I'm working on at the moment. It's currently a work in progress which is why some spots are still black and white.
It's basically done by opening the photo in Photoshop and painting in the colors manually. For example, in order to get a more realistic look, skin needs to have a number of colors other than the actual skin tone. The same thing goes for everything else that gets colored.
RIP the dream.

Which reminds me, the person who did Franz Ferdinand also did The Red Baron:
Thats total bullshit. We all know it was the germans in ww2 that experimented with dinosaur restoration technology. In WW1 they were trying to revive vampires to deal with the leprechaun brigades being unleashed by the UK.I heard from someone that one of the DLCs in development for Battlefield 1 has dinosaurs.
Expansion Packs? There were 2 (Road to Rome and Secret Weapons of WWII). I liked them, even if the 2nd went hard on the alt-history angles a bit as arsenal goes.Nothing new, I remember different map packs and vehicles, etc. (theaters of war) in BF1942.
Mind linking those websites? As for research, I think it all depends on the person doing the coloring. If they're serious about it, they're going to put in work and do the best they can. I'd imagine someone like Marina to do as much research as possible to match colors on uniforms and clothing of the period. Luckily, with the internet, there's an infinite amount of information out there. There are websites out there with pictures of almost every kind of badge you can imagine.
That's neat. I like that stuff too, but I'm not really a collector of it. Even though I know my ancestors fought in World War 1, my grandad only has the Wehrmacht badges from his father. Those are the only ones still in our possession, I think, which is kind of unfortunate (or my great great great grandfather was just really bad and never earned any badges in World War 1, lol.)Personally, I like to work on military photos. I'm somewhat of a collector, so I have quite a few badges and medals at home, mostly from WW2. A number of family members were in wars throughout history, and another one of my friends is both a veteran and crazy super collector. Seriously, you can barely walk around in the rooms where he has his collection. If I don't know off the top of my head, I can usually count on him for reference photos or advice.
Mind linking those websites?
So much for John being right....
Thanks! That disclaimer on the second site is kind of funny.http://www.angelfire.com/md2/patches/

The first one is good for US WW2 stuff, but the pop ups! The second one is the one I used to identify some of the German badges that I own. I'm about to leave the office, but I'll get you some more in the morning!

Server browser? Oh thank god.
It will be Battlelog tho
Yeah pretty much this. Never regretted buying premium.Already assumed they were doing this, didn't know anyone was expecting something different.
Premium always has had content well worth the price though so I'm not complaining.
Well why else would there be Battlepacks?RIP the dream.

It will be interesting. Complex melee in first person games rarely ever feels right to me. And even when they get the mechanics down like in Chivalry it often tends to just look dumb from an outside perspective. (That's obviously more of a nitpicky problem)I wonder how advanced melee will be. Regular, heavy, blocking, etc.? Seems like this game will have a bigger focus on melee and melee weapons
For BF3 and BF4 I've been happy with the season passes. They put out tons of great maps, and tend to be pretty clear and transparent with what DLC they plan to put out. For BF4 we did get a couple of extra free community maps sprinkled in as well.Battlefield was the only game I ever played where the premium (season pass) was absolutely worth it. Just so they don't pull a dick move on us like blizzard and all of a sudden skimp on the content.
Yep! Except if you don't get the day-1/pre-order version of Battlefield you won't get the first DLC free. It's been the current model. Get the game at launch, you get the first DLC included. That won't matter if you get a season pass though, since all DLC content is included with that.Packs, DLC, Pre-order content, Day 1 Edition, etc, etc...
Its all so confusing!!!!
not gonna buy this day one, is all that content usually available later?

All sounds great. I'm sure soldiers in real life don't run around with XM25, UCAV and motion sensor, so this won't be the first time DICE use a little bit imagination. I'm ready for some crazy prototype concept weapons and gadgets, just please don't make the equivalent of XM25 and UCAV.A few notes from Eurogamer: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-05-10-battlefield-1-interview-dice
- They say they're playing around with the weapons a bit in that it's likely soldiers didn't actually physically run around with the machine guns they're using in Battlefield 1, but that they wanted to include them because they're a lot of fun. On the whole though, it's not meant to be alt history.
- It sounds like only tankers and pilots are dedicated classes, while things like horses are mounts you can use as an infantry soldier. This isn't 100% clear though.
- DICE refers to there being multiple heroines in the game, so presumably there are more characters in the campaign than the three in the trailer. I'm guessing six, with one for each rumored "Act/Episode".
YeahHarker?
John Harker clarified about a week or two before the announcement they backed off the alt history angle and it was only going to weapon-related, i.e. weapon prototypes or not exactly period accurate weapons, likely which allowed DICE to have more standard BF type weapons.
It's possible we could get an alternative history related DLC/expansion later on.
