Buccaneer image. 5 guns of fun.

Yoooooo. I'm not typically the kind of guy who goes for the ships that Drake Interplanetary offer, but I'm pretty sure I can make an exception.

Roy Focker would approve of that ship's paint job.

I love taking peoples ships when they leave it on a landing pad.. took a few more screenshots but if anyone wants something specific ill do it. They currently have one store front that's closed on the Port.. i wonder what will take its place? The performance isn't that great and i know of a few bugs that needs to be fixed way before they plan on pushing this to live.

I've got 2750uec and the cheapest suit is 3000. How am I supposed to get to a ship? :l

Go to your EZ Hab locker or any locker by the Port Doors. You already have a spacesuit by default.

A few of the guys in Evocatti made over 100k in just a few hours. Most I ever made was around 46k as we lost everything each wipe. Money is pretty easy to make right now, I would assume once the game goes live it will be a little harder.

Found a cool video explaining the item ports in 2.4.

I don't understand why the range is so short when pointing at ports. They really should have just let us have unlimited range when it comes to changing loadouts. I mean, it's already unrealistic that we can change out any weapons or part in our ships instantly, not sure why they have to restrict the distance we have to be considering how big ships like the Starfarer are.

Because it is temporary and only an initial implementation. They have stated their intent to bring back the holotable, now using the new item port system. I suspect direct manipulation of ports on a ship will only be for things like repairs, if you're manipulating loadouts you'll want to do it through a menu for the sake of efficiency.

Interesting bug with forward rendered materials. Half of the screen fills up with these moving bars on only those materials that are forward rendered: cloth and glass for example.

Anyone else getting this?
Never encountered this before, but I must say great IQ you got there. Are these C_VAR functional with multiple GPU rendering now?

Stealth bragging taken to new levels.
?

edit: oh yeah, got it, nevermind.

Not multi-GPU, just taking advantage of the somewhat buggy TAA and not buggy shader AA.
r_DeferredShadingFilterGBuffer = 1
r_AntialiasingMode = 3
r_AntialiasingTAAFalloffHiFreq = 6.0
r_AntialiasingTAAFalloffLowFreq = 2.0
r_AntialiasingTAAPattern = 6
r_AntialiasingTAASharpening = 0.05

Oh yeah sure, I know you're rolling on mono card, I was just wondering if it was possible to use these tweaks under multi-GPU configuration, last time I tried it wasn't due to the temporal component.

Anyway, I guess the best way to know is to try by myself, thanks for the variables.

oh I am not sure! I have never tried em out.

Ryse allowed for TAA with multi-GPU. I imagine SC could as well.

And then, it works! I won't say it's flawless, minor flickering here and there on distant thin geometry -maybe it's not related to SLI, haven't tried on single- but it's definitely smoothing out the edges and drastically reduces shimmering that was still present on UHD.

Bonus point, it's basically free (< 2% GPU usage, margin of error maybe), the con is that not being on x16-x16 distribution, I guess it will tend to stutters with quick camera movements/quantum jumps.

Dictator, your huge and awesome screenshots has caused the page loading come to a crawl :p. It's a 7.1 MB .png and at the rate abload is responding it takes 2 minutes to fully load. It's not my internet since all the rest works perfectly fine and fast. Can you maybe put it in as a thumbnail?

I haven't seen shit like that since the '90s. Are we sure this isn't running on a heavily modified Wing Commander 3 engine?...

I should note that I'm running everything on default. I don't get that artifacting.

Oh yeah sorry :/ Though the thumbnail links provided by upload are definitely not working. Any idea which syntax would do that on GAF?

Nice to hear! But yeha, I imagine any bugs with the TAA (flicker and some transparency ghosting problems) will be fixed on release.

It's probably just Dictator's Titan dying.

It knows.

1080 cometh.

It knows.

i get that bug on 4K but not at 1080P. Its a common problem.
Yeah I think it maybe something that happens @ 4K. WIll test it out further today at some point.
Maybe he should wait until the Titan ZX, so he can play patch 2.5 at 1080p 30 fps.
30? 24 baby. Filmic.

thanks for wasting our money, Roberts

why didn't you have better foresight

Think of all the coffee machines that could have bought!

Edit: Unrelated, but I can confirm Test Squadron basically just zerg invites players. Got an invite on my new secondary account despite it already being in an org, and having a handle that should immediately identify it as not being a real player (particularly when paired with the joined org).

BadNewsBaron setup a 5v5 FPS battle on a Starfarer.

Awesome as shit, but it really highlights why Star Marine isn't out yet lol.

The concept is really cool but as you said, looks like a lot of work still needs to be done.

Have they mentioned how they're handling the "camera attached to third person model" conundrum? Like in Arma, movement looks pretty clunky. It's tolerable in Arma because the focus isn't really on close quarters combat but instead middle-long distance engagements. CQB in Arma has always had an element of frustration with it.

Now Derek Smart is using this FPS battle footage as proof in his ongoing war against Star Citizen.

It was pretty much expected that would happen. Even i thought that gameplay looked pretty bad at times and i defend the game a lot and know that it's in alpha and all that, there are a lot of issues in the video. I don't quite get what's supposedly good about that footage though, other than it shows it's possible to do these things while onboard a (potentially moving) player ship.

A lot of the issues in the video I suspect are server side, whereby the server isn't able to keep up hence the bad collision detection (subsequent clipping through geometry) and failure of weapons to fire.

Until they get server performance up, these kinds of issues will be prevalent.

that doesn't look good at all.

This is by far the worst FPS combat I've seen in game. I've been in the PTU a few times since 2.0 and the shooting and hit reactions I remember were better than this. Looks like it got wonkier, and it was definitely already pretty wonky. They really have their work cut out for them.

Considering I've had clipping through the Starfarer issues in 2.4 that I didn't have in 2.3 in the hangar alone, I wouldn't be surprised if there were a number of other regressions.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too. Looks worse than demos we've already seen of fps combat.

Its going to stay wonky for a long ass time. Its such a large game.. it would take years for all of the kinks to be worked out.
