Kotaku - No Man's Sky delayed

So I guess they are going for a WW release (6/24) instead of NA on the 21st... maybe?

If confirmed, lots of overreactions and certainties about PSVR/ 2 months+ delays to account for hehe.

Why the radio silence over what would be a trivially short delay?

This is the only thing that concerns me. If it is in fact just a 3day delay, then I would assume its because it hasn't been communicated to everyone yet and is still in its planning stages. AKA PR didn't hear about the date change until we did.

Yeah exactly. lol If it was only a 3 day delay then I would of expected Sony to comment on it already.

If the 3 day thing is true, all this would do is get some free headlines/buzz for the game without that much backlash. Well there was already backlash, but I can't imagine it'll be that lasting if it's only 3 days.

the latest footage looks a bit "downgraded"

This looks very cool, what game is that?

I love how people act as if a journalist has never been miss informed before. Seriously have you guys not been around when there's a hardware announcement before.

The amount of completely credible sources that turn out completely wrong is astounding.

Jason might not be misinformed though. He said the launch date was changed to be open ended. People at EB Canada have posted on Twitter and Reddit a new promo showing a new date- 3 days later. He was right at the time.

Because it´s not that short.

Source is Reddit which is also the source of the death threats against Jason.

Grain of salt.... etc...

How is an entire website with thousand of user the "source"? Whuut?

Also he posted a picture:

Might be due to problems of printing the physical copies ahead for the release of the game. What if they hadn't enough time to print those physical copies for Gamestop, and that it would not be ready for june 21st, but 3 days later, yeah why not?

Because GS would probably have sticker that says: "coming June 26" and not "coming soon".

They likely never have a specific dated sticker and instead were instructed to use "Coming Soon" as I imagine that's something they always have to stick on cases and whatnot for games with no confirmed dates.

The only way you can know whether a delay has resulted in a game actually being better, is if you have played the game prior to said delay and can pinpoint the exact changes that lead to the game now being better than it was as a result of the delay.

Games are delayed all the time. Good games, bad games, small games and large games. Why is it such a big deal in this case? I'm reading the thread and it's just not clear to me.

Sometimes you can play a game that should have been delayed.

The train wreck that was DriveClub says hello.

From what I understand from some people working gamestop (either on here or reddit), the coming soon is a generic gamestop sticker they re use for cases like this. They may not have known quite when and told them to use the generic sticker for the moment (since they would probably have that one on hand).

Anyways, I'm not sure I believe a few day delay but if so, once again I really hope they communicate it soon so I have time to change my vacation request (and not just cancel it).

I not saying his sources are wrong, I'm not saying his sources are lying. All I'm saying is that it's very possible this is all over nothing. Plus add to the fact that a lot of companies have a policy that they don't respond to rumours and you've got a perfect storm.

Sure, that's fair.

Either way a Friday release wouldn't be implausible I think.

I imagine because they game was announced quite some time ago and has been rolled out at more or less every big PS event with no date for ages. So moving the date they finally gave is going to lead to some disappointment/frustration.

Do you think they keep a roll of stickers for each day of the year on hand for these situations??

I don't know or care what the deal with this game is, but it looks like they got hit with unexpected news and they probably actually do have 'coming soon' stickers in all stores, so they used them.

Oh this game...I hope I eat crow, but I can't help but think of Africa on PS3 and Spore, same pattern of hype and user expectations, with the same ending...

I guess we'll know on the 24th of June...or December..or 2018.

I can sorta understand where some SOME people are coming from. Doesn't bother me tho I just went thru this with uncharted 4 and that was a much worst wait.

holy shit, from this guy's profile

Lol holy shit, I have an explorer's edition pre-ordered and I'm not the least bit salty about the delay. The devs have been radio silent for months working on the game, if they need to delay it I'm sure there's something unfinished or something game-breaking. I'd rather the game work.
